tried it out, im crashing specifically at one cutscene. the mod lowered my vram usage but even with 5gb of vram usage the cutscene would crash when it freezes just slightly, im assuming its that somethings just giving up as soon as it freezes for a second, it doesnt give it a second to wait or to try load or whatever. i need to find something to fix it

5gb is stable but only at this cutscene its not working, my vram is slightly overclocked in msi afterburner to +500 mhz so that might be an issue with instability? if thats still the issue when i reset it then i dont know what to do

Just tried out S2 finally on Game Pass for an hour, kind of exactly what I hoped it would be tbh. Call of Pripyat-y gameplay but in a whole open world space and nice mod influenced touches like food anims etc.

Deffo still needs work though. AI feels a bit dumb. Balance is both unforgiving yet easy with high bullet damage but absolutely drowning in healing items if you're looking around

its weird because i downloaded 1k textures and it got to around only 5gb vram usage out of the 6, and then it crashes which is strange. its likely due to shaders compiling or something causing the game to stutter/freeze, but as soon as it freezes the game gives up and just closes/crashes

my drivers are the december 2024 ones, 566.36, matter of fact i had to reroll to those ones because my game kept crashing on the new drivers due to the instability and horrible vram management on the newer ones

not about that in the start, but since you are inside a building during the mission cutscene, it has to also render stuff as well and compile textures and all that

the issue ive found is that the game just closes itself when it freezes since the vrams having an issue

Yeah I'd say wait a bit. Outside of some bugs and glitches, balance is just generally off IMO. Lots of the non-human enemies have annoying behaviour patterns and everyone is way too bullet sponge-y. idc how monstrous radiated dogs are, they shouldn't take a bunch of MP5 rounds to die

Economy doesn't seem too bad so far, repair cost is a fair chunk but not insane. I had to do 2 side quests to afford a good shotgun which seems like a good balance. It just encourages you to be careful with your ammo

I think the AI has a 'time until shooting the player on spotting' delay that needs to be reduced and that'd make the AI immediately feel much better. I think that combined with bullet sponge-y health makes them feel video gamey

But yeah, as expected from all the first impressions and reviews, great foundation just needs further polish and refinement

Haha, I have to agree that I think bringing deathmatch to stalker is a bad idea, it won’t do much for the game… but Co-op on the other hand.. I don’t get why they didn’t make it at least 1 other player can explore the zone with you, players have been screaming out for co-op in stalker for years and people are still actively trying to mod in multiplayer on the OGs. Scrap deathmatch and bring in some co-op mode instead.

I found reactions to be good on Stalker difficulty in 1.4. Definitely not dumber.
They have decent self preservation, melee etc now.

I'll keep playing and report any issues, but so far so good.

Also I've often wondered if difficulty effects stuff.
Like people go on about enemies spawning in front of them, but I've never had it happen. How can that be?

dogs, boars and rats all attack you, run away, then loop back
A-Life patrol took cover against nothing and one guy started spinning around on the spot in the middle of the road
'Take All' Inventory button sometimes greyed out, sometimes not
world feels weirdly empty currently cos you notice you often only come across enemies as you approach locations AKA spawning enemies around you as you're playing probably to preserve performance
bullet damage is unforgiving yet enemies are bullet sponges and you're also flooded in health kits and bandages so balance feels both weirdly too hard and too easy

man does it need more time to cook, v Early Access vibes even 6 months later

I have to say though, I'm not sure what modders are thinking with the Reduced Repair Cost/Increased Carry Weight/Sprinting mods. Economy feels pretty well balanced and your inventory is v decently sized, you just can't carry every gun ever

I'm walking around with three shotguns, two rifles, two pistols, hella food and healing items, still got 30kg left

Only played 5hrs, I've not even tried to do every side quest and I've still got 15k. Once I've repaired my new damaged guns I'll still have about 5k left for ammo and health
