my favourite Detector that you can get early enough on is called Bear, it has a segmented ring to show direction and distance to the artifact, but it displays distance as widening the lit parts on the ring instead of giving you a meters to display

basically if the game does not either A. mark a place on your map with a orange mission marker or B, tells you that your objective is now to wait out the emission, whatever place you're is is not considered safe.

it also makes me sad how impractical they made the PKM because they couldn't make it work for whatever reason. the PKM used to be really strong, using a heavy round. but now it's on par with some ARs mid game or something and the ammo is still just as heavy for some reason too.

literally they made the PKM fire the 7.62x39 round so it would be used in something other than the conversion for the Dnipro. but the round is coded to be as heavy as 308 and 7.62x54 so you get like ok damage, under 3 bars of penetration but for the weight of sniper rifle rounds

literally my Glutton PKM when loaded is like 17 kgs.

And the fact that faction wars is the ONLY a-life simulation that is present in CS makes it even more boring than CoP A-Life, which is technically worse than CS one (Cause NPCs in CoP can despawn, don't really have objectives, can't even move between locations... But they CAN generate interesting situations that are impossible in CS)

If hitting a body part would result in a stun, like hitting the head does, I wouldn’t be a fan. It would just let you stunlock people and remove their aggression

In that case, I’d struggle to see the benefit unless they took the same approach as Dishonored. Since enemies there have helmets that prevent frontal instakills, hitting the leg is genuinely useful since melee kills after you run up can insta kill them. If some enemies had tougher helmets I could see that being useful, otherwise it would be more of an optional aesthetic thing

Like your rdr2 example is prime here. When I played that I literally just went for headshots. Shooting the gun out their hand or tripping them is just a waste of bullets. But if S2 had more situational benefits to them, I could see it offering alternate options instead of just, the face

If they're up armoured then better penetrating bullets would be needed or if you didn't have that you could shoot their limbs and get the jump with a knife kill between the armour or shooting between their armour on the side or neck

Rdr2 yes headshots were the one, but it was fun for me to play around with them and made the npcs feel more authentic

Like say, if they are throwing a grenade, shoot their hand to get them to drop it. Shoot the leg and they can’t crouch. Shoot the leg while running and they trip. For tougher enemies that makes which part to shoot a genuine decision

Stalker gamma armour system is good I think, exos you need to shoot them a lot in the head or need penetrating rounds.

I think that alongside this limb based stun could potentially work well. Old stalker had it's gunplay based a lot around moving up close, s2 still wants that which is evident by its sight sway and tap fire wobble, but ranged still works fine. Then big targets you could start off by weakening them with leg and arm shots, take out the grunts with headshots then focus on the big one

that kind of dynamic sounds fun. Greater positioning requirement in group fights with an element of target prioritisation and strategy revolving around attrition over just headshots
