That said, going artifact hunting for one of those side quests to repair my reputation was very fun. Planning routes to the next anomaly and running into places and side activities I hadn’t seen on my first playthrough. It took me 6 hours to find the one they wanted (bloody Flower Bud I think it’s called?) but it was fun either way.

If outside of the render radius you are rendering pixels to calculate what is around NPC's to know who has the advantage, there is no reason to have an outside radius to begin with considering at that point you never really despawn or derender stuff

I mean there's some point. All you need to render is the depth map, skip the shading and texturing, it's not meant for eyes to see. Also you can abort the render once some threshold crosses. I'd see why they'd be tempted to do it this way, which would explain the computational requirements. But none of that is really needed for immersion, you can fake most of it. I wonder where the compute requirements for offline alife are coming from...

If you're talking about LLM phrase processing then yeah and fun fact, turns out nobody actually needed FP32 for phrase processing, FP8 is good enough for weights so the answer was "no good reason, really". Hell, there's very smart people working on making the computation analog. So asking "why algorithm slow" IMO is always a relevant question that usually can be answered with "because I didn't profile it"

You are looking at this as if the calculations will be done on a one by one squad basis when the system will be used by a lot of NPCs excluding mutants, the number doubles with mutants present, you can see that the game isn't doing so well when it was off, 1.0 I mean, and Shaytech can attest that when you forcefully extended the range and turned features on, the performance got worse with a lot of cut features
It's never as easy as implementation, you need to bother how a large number of entities will affect performance to be judging a list of actions on the according to it's environments every frame

The thing about the b580 is it only performs better than the 4060 with a high end CPU. If you have a low to mid range one the 4060 outperforms it. It’s weird but yeah idk why it do that

I was a little burned up, when I started the game, I did kinda hope to relive my first experience when I fired up SoC the first timed and got scared by a bloodsucker, all this gloomy atmosphere and so on, but Stalker 2 turned up to be a different game, somewhat close to Fallout 4 I would say even, because of the leveldesign
