I feel like their largest/underestimated design choice mistake was actually trying to make one large 'persistent' world. I would have gladly traded having to load into zones for world immersion, loading into zones does not really break immersion (for me)

I liked starfield, but imo you need to look at it as a game to play once and never touch it again kind of thing. Cause I agree that theres not much replayability potential compared to other Bethesda games. Especially considering it's a new franchise and what not, it's kind of expected that it wouldn't attract every Skyrim or Fallout fan into it

I don't want to sh*t on KCD, they obviously did a good job, but a huge part of that must have been the decision to just keep what worked well and not try to invent the wheel again.
When you look at the new game it's more than apparent that it's basically just more of the same - which in this case is not a bad idea. The game was already there, people just need new locations and quests, which of course is still worth of 7 years of work.

But like I said - you can't compare this with Stalker. Original KCD release was super rough, maybe worse than S2, despite being in early access for years.

Yeah, I really wouldn't want to do the whole "Welp, time to move my entire base/stash to the next region!" thing.

It's not too bad in The Long Dark though.

Besides, much like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., TLD has at least one place in most of the regions that you can use for a safehouse, so you don't always have to move that much stuff at once.

I hope the clouded areas will be expanded with new locations in a dlc, if there will be any. I hope they'll somehow implement the actual town of Chernobyl ruins. Yknow, the one the whole area and power plant were named after?? Idk why it was never even mentioned in the franchise.
Also, regardless of my complaints, I still love that I can ignore the main questline and explore the map as I please and hunt for artifacts. Love returning to Rostok for trade and r&r after a long tour across the map. Definitive stalker experience.

They definitely will be, there was an early version of the original map that was leaked some time ago, plus we already have in-game evidence of at least two places we're likely to visit. (Limansk and Cold Island.)

That's pretty cool then. Limansk was one of my favourite locations in the old trilogy. Wouldn't complain if some actual new regions were added too though. Sometimes exploring the map doesn't feel like exploring at all, because most locations are just upscaled ones from the previous games.

I subscribe to the idea that the PDA maps we had in the original trilogy weren't a true representation of where regions were.

Additionally, according to the testing Anomalous Dugout did, the total area of the Zone that we explore in the original trilogy is only a tiny portion of the whole thing; GSC redesigning the map would probably have been inevitable.

In my headcanon Zone is larger than the irl exclusion zone, and the maps in PDA (at least in the original games) weren't accurate due to the Zone being one big dimensional anomaly. And it's boundaties aren't clearly set - they fluctuate from blowout to blowout.

I initially thought there was mainly an issue with collisions not functioning correctly since release. Turns out basic physical materials like dirt, ground, leaves, etc are defaulting to translucent so npcs can see/hear through the map, walls, fences and the like... They have core mechanic issues to fix before adding complexities.

ok, I need to know if anyone else is experiencing this. I'm consistently having every group of enemies in the game popping into existence at 50m. Doesn't matter if its some random guy guarding a door, a sniper or a wandering squad. They are all completely invisible and just appear out of nowhere when I get within 50m or so, and disappear when I walk backwards while looking at them. The first clue I get of enemies being nearby is the being spotted UI showing they can see me. Is this normal?

1 out of 10 trees also suddenly appear out of nowhere at 50m as well. Every 5 steps some large foliage noticeably pops into existence. Is this supposed to be happening or is there some glitched setting or bug?

This isn't slav jank, this is non-rendering entity meshes while their lights and effects are rendering, it's extremely consistent, every entity at the same radius de-renders.
I've played the vanilla stalker trilogy, stalker and gamma-based modpacks a ton and I've never seen something this constant and glaring of an issue.

I have a problem with bright nights. I noticed that after the last patch the nights are bright, it's e.g. 23:00 or 1:00 at night and it's too bright as night. And it's not the fault of mods or settings.

CoP's A-Life system was really cool because I'm pretty sure the level of activity was affected by the side-quests the player did/did not do and how they solved them.

In recent interviews they've said that due to S2's success, they're now planning on supporting the game longer and more intensely than they initially planned. They even said that restoration of cut content and implementation of ideas that didn't make it to release being on the table.

No dude, we just want the game we were hyped for to actually be good, and not a buggy mess. It's really not that weird to want to enjoy the game properly, without using mods, console commands and other workarounds to simply be able to continue playing.

New content would be cool (like maybe new mutants outside of those we know from the original trilogy), but most of all, players are concerned about bugs, softlocks, and npc gun accuracy

I have to sincerely apologize to devs for my frustrated game crash report comments - I had crashes very often (5-30 minutes), usually after I opened the map, journal, or even only escaped to the main menu. Turns out the culprit was the Precision Boost Overdrive enhancement (PBO) on my Gigabyte X670 Elite AX - I had my CPU temperature limited to 80 ˚C and it was killing the game. Once turned off, the game runs great on both Windows, and Linux. But it took me a very long time to realize PBO might be the cause... :(
