the problem is from what ive seen that there is currently nothing keeping track of the agent sid of the actors.
the spawners are a simple thing, imagine your street where you live some houses gone but the ones remain are the spawners lets say 30% of the street, and lets say from those you dont see the last 50%. the game can perfectly keep track of squads that dont trigger spawners beyond render since the spawners are inactive, it is only during render that they actively spawn npc's.

it is that very system gsc appears to be using but its not working, imagine your town, 30% of it is left, your neighbourhood is your render, you wont see what happens at other side of town and there are moments where a house decides to "attack" another house nearby expanding the lets say colour (faction), there is nothing atm that keeps track of what house colour is in what part of the town and you being in another neighbourhood doesnt influence the houses, you can test this yourself by booting up, going afk somewhere for minutes/hours and save and log off, in theory if these spawners and offline is working the types that you will gradually come across will shift to the population dominating in offline but it isnt, it never is atm unless you want to tell me its just no major faction in control and they keep fighting for hours? and if you turn off your game and come back and go afk at the same spot, the npc's you will come across will still be rng, this is due to the spawner system not expanding (like i said with the houses)

I mean what you're saying is not wrong, that's one half of a-life as it is right now. But there is also offline simulation. A guy on youtube did a whole video on it. Actual a-life squads can go into combat, and if they derender it is resolved offline. The squads that are spawned JUST to fight eachother will disappear when derendered and never be rendered again

That is quite literally the a-life system simulating the rest of the battle. You derender them, simulated combat happens, computers are fast, you look again and only some of the winning squad is still alive.

Offline combat worked almost the same way in the old games, although with more features like looting etc after combat and it would actually spawn the ragdolls when you rerender the scene. But the offline combat simulation has always happened in the blink of an eye (computers are very fast)

Also just wanna point out the logical tomfoolery of "there is no offline that resolves the fight, it happens instant at de-render" how can it be resolved instantly if there is no offline a-life to resolve it

no i mean say they are fighting at the edge at 95m, its 4 monolith vs 4 neutrals, as soon as you are at 96m they de-render, if you go 1m closer again they respawn, but this time due to scenario it respawns the 4 monolith as dead since the other 4 are neutral. what i mean with the offline part is its not like say you see 2 different patrols at 2 different sides in a radius moving closer to eachother, if you run fast you can de-render both, stay afk go get a snack and come back, the game will not have calculated their meeting in offline

For the record, I am by no means pleased with where the current a-life 2.0 implementation is at, but to say that offline mode doesnt exist is just blatantly false at this point.
No it doesnt have as many features as it used to, and no it also isn't persistent if you travel all the way across the zone and back. But if you stay in the same region of the zone it does persistent and does persist across saves. However all the random spawns that aren't part of the a-life system does make it feels more halfassed than it should and could

i don't believe offline a-life is here in current build tbh, what you described it a basic save state of actors in runtime, turn off your game and try again next time. theres a big chance it will roll something else. sure it persists as in it knows theres something there but not the same exact thing

The 4 monoliths are dead because the fight was resolved offline and the 4 monoliths all died. It's more common to see 1 or 2 guys from one half still alive.

But yes the offline mode is very limited in the current version, and not that many things are simulated by squads that are 100% in offline mode.

I am unsure how you know they never met though, they might have and one squad would have continued? Everything in offline mode that we dont even observe at all is all speculative right now. We know that the stalkers that die in offline mode dont get ragdolls spawned in when we come back, so from all we can see maybe they did meet and fight, the bodies are not persisted into online mode.

Offline a-life is there. Persistence is weird at long distances etc but there is something there that goes beyond simple save states. You can test it yourself, run ahead of a squad until they derender then wait, they will render again along the same course that you were waiting for them at.

Sometimes it does go wonky though and you might see the squad of 4 sparks became a squad of 2 sparks with different armor and names, but the squad itself was persisted and simulated

that is exactly the online director doing the work, pre 1.1.0 when a-life went offline they despawned in offline instantly, what there is now is a sort of curtain that is hiding the longer range the online director has control

To your last point, exactly. It's utterly broken, but there is a simulation happening at the deeper level. And offline combat has always been resolved fast. The biggest difference in feel right now is just that there are no bodies for you to see if you miss all of the combat

the bodies are unfortunately fake atm, they are either handplaced by gsc or they are a literal scenario that can spawn a dead body at random, 3rd and last case is bodies created by the vs scenarios they last longer, but bodies from natural encounters do despawn faster

From what I've seen personally. It only gets really wonky when you go from lesser zone to garbage for example. But if you stay in lesser zone, I've literally ran across the entire lesser zone, 400-500 meters away from squads and back to see the same squads, same names, same gear, etc
