You’re using a combination of settings and resolution that eventually cross the 8GB threshold as more and more data is loaded. Dumping it into shared memory, which slows it down substantially

Most artifact spawns are random, there's a couple like the Weird Flower, Weird Ball and other "altered item" artifacts that are static though so they'll be in the same spot every playthrough but I don't think they respawn after an Emission so you can only ever get one.

Also the Chinese Steam client is in large separate from the international one, now obviously some Chinese people get around the gov't restrictions when possible but the voting and even player count of Wukong on the global client isn't indicative that it has a majority chinese playerbase. Majority Asian? Maybe, but there's a lot of factors to take into account when we get to talking about Steam Awards voting and the fact China is largely insulated even on the internet so much so that the chinese players we DO encounter are a minority of their own video game population.

Also by that same logic US games should be winning top spots constantly due to 350+ million people are in the US and it's the 3rd largest country on the planet but half the time French, Canadian, European and Asian games are taking the top spots despite the fact the most used language on Steam is English. Using population as a reason a game won largely discounts the love a game gets outside of it's home country.

I found 7.62 ammo being sold at STC Malachite, think I also saw 5.56 but not totally sure on that since I don't really use 5.56 that much in game. I prefer the Vintar and Lavina which both use 9x39 I think.

Dnipro is considered the best but honestly every weapon is viable as far as rifles go since you'll be mainly using rifles on Human enemies. SPSA and the Saiga shotties are undoubtedly the best weapons for killing mutants in the game though.

Find a rifle you like and use it till you find one you like better, I've been using Valik's AK you get in Zelissya for most of the game so far because of how versatile it is but other people prefer to use a Viper, or a AR416. Just depends on preference. Though don't forget Armor Piercing ammo, works wonders on soldiers.

STALKER 2: How does armor work. When I have a "jacket" so that I can equip a "gas mask" to the head section. Will that setup give more (armor/protection since they both have "stats") vs a suit that has a builtin headpiece (so you cant equip a seperate "gas mask") as well. You can see the natural progression of the weapons in the game, weapons with the same calibre might have higher pen stats, if you have one AR that only does 2 pen and one that does 4, pick the higher pen. This will narrow down what to use early, mid and late game matey

Oh also, 7.62.39 is extremely rare so do not sell it. I have not found a trader that sells this ammo. By the time i hit late game i had 800 rounds saved up, this ammo will help massively at a certain point. So i would recommend keeping it

I found a possible fix that fixed my save at ''back to slag heap''. if you have invisible characters in your game(for example, Dalin was invisible during the cutscene for me) download UETools addon from nexus. then open your game and press f10. paste this command there: XStartEmission this triggers an emission and after the emission, Dalin wasn't invisible anymore. hope that helps someone

Ward like SIRCAA is government funded, they have some degree of independence but doubt it's a lot. They hire a lot of mercenaries but are not themselves.
Spark is a group which solely worked with scientists originally, Malachite are non government funded scientists (or even partially government funded, who knows). Their relation is that Spark continued working with them.
SIRCAA is 100% funded by the government, Malachite, perhaps to some degree, or perhaps privately.

this is a bug introduced with 1.1 (unable to skip cutscenes), i think only new games are affected, older saves should work fine (pre 1.1)

Great, that should be it. Although that upgrade menu could use some rework. Clicking on upgrade icons won't highlight the selected one. Some feedback on which one is selected would be cool. Also I know you can withdraw the last upgrade still a 3-5 second hold to upgrade would be better.

Stashes need a revision or two as well; I'm sick of every stash being full of the same crap almost every time. Stashes in the original trilogy had better stuff in them way more frequently. There were still stashes with basic supplies of course, but they weren't 95% of what you find like they are now.

I think some UI effect rework should do good for the upgrade menu. Like selecting an item actually highlights the icon, making more apparent that you can toggle some options on and off, upgrade icon positions are wrong on some weapons. No problem, sorry for confusing you. Some changes to the upgrade menu UI probably wouldn't be a bad idea, or maybe a toggle to let us choose between selecting points on the item (like it is now) or switching to an old-school CoP-style view. Hell, maybe even find a way to combine the two.

The only attachments we didn't have in the original trilogy were foregrips, lasers, and a shotgun upgrade that makes it magazine-fed. We still had scopes, grenade launchers, and suppressors.

Correct, upgrades and repairs were introduced in Clear Sky and effectively perfected in Call of Pripyat.

Shadow of Chernobyl had no repairs outside of mods and no upgrades outside of unique weapons/suits. We did still have weapon attachments though.

Corpses with artifacts are basically a stash with one, and higher-tier stashes have rare ammo. Low tier stashes (backpacks) are just that: low tier stashes. If every stash had the loot of a blue box, there would be WAY too much high tier loot everywhere

Except that almost all of the stashes in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 are low-tier garbage. Again, stashes in the original trilogy had decent to good stuff in them way more frequently than in S2.

You still had stashes with basic supplies in them (e.g. basic ammo, basic medical supplies, food) but you also had stashes with special ammo, mid-tier or even high-tier guns, weapon attachments, suits, etc. Stashes with artifacts did exist but were pretty rare, and the "legendary" stashes were about as rare as they are in S2.

Stashes in in the original trilogy felt rewarding, the stashes in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 do not. (Outside of the "legendary" stashes, and even then, the good stuff is usually just sitting next to the container, while the stash container itself usually just contains the same crap as usual, just more of it and maybe slightly better ammo.)

Another problem is those stupid wooden boxes and the ammo and med containers. While the original trilogy (especially SoC) had these, they didn't always have stuff in them (usually they were empty) and there wasn't nearly as much stuff in them as there is now.

The game really does shower you with supplies to a kind of absurd degree and I think it needs to be changed. I'm not saying we need to go all the way to the Misery/Anomaly/GAMMA level of resource scarcity, but what we have now just seems like too much.

I remember most of the stashes being low tier supplies. The ones with weapons and suits and such were really rare and in "difficult/puzzley" locations, which is the same in s2 to me.

the originals enjoyed the luxury of their maps not being 64km^2, and as such there's less area to fill with loot. this means stashes can be more "to the point" and have more stuff in them in terms of variety and value. s2 has a massive map and the progression is mostly the same. specifically, you have pretty much the same amount of gear in each tier that you have to climb. to add more variety and value, they could add more systems to the game which require the player to progress through the tiers, but that risks overcomplicating the game with dogwater systems (gamma and anomaly)

that's also true. honestly, i don't have a problem with low tier stashes being everywhere because i love exploring and parkouring everywhere and it's nice to have at least something as a reward, even if it's mere stuff like food and ammo. i do not expect POIs to be filled to the brim with loot if you look hard enough: that would break the balance. honestly when i found a corpse with a pristine rhino and a ram in the truck cemetery i was shocked they decided to put 2 high tier guns in a mid tier area

there's also a gazillion amount of armours everywhere, which i'm fine with i guess. felt like more than what you would find in the OGs

I think part of the problem too is that they are mostly all low tier stashes, even in later parts of the game. Scientists or military having the same stashes as bandits.

It would be nice if they brought back special weapons with different stats for the stashes, even if they were a bit unrealistic. If I can withstand shots from 20 enemies at the same time while healing myself, and the weapon damage isn't realistic, why not add something fun here and there?

The reason they don't add anything interesting is that they don't have many options in the end—a very large map for the limited amount of actual content they have.

I had it, sold all the items to a trader (specifically sold them to Eugene), then slept. I checked Eugenes inventory to verify they were sold, then uninstalled the mod, and still have ragman's inventory crash
but it's not instantaneous, it's only when I mouse over into his trade window

well, the mod items can't be seen in the inventory, but the space for them is there, when you mouse over to the trader window, the game tries to display something that's actually not there, resulting in a CTD, usually

was able to scroll and everything until mousing over ammo (I have no mods altering ammo either) which is weird, then I got hit with a EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION crash

I did, I'm really lost, I was able to move around his inventory and stuff, but mousing over ammo boxes is what's crashing it. Was able to mouse over weapons and attachments, read them, etc without an issue though

which as far as anything that touches weapons in any way, are two visual mods (one being red shotgun shells, one to change the ammo icons so they're easier to read), and one to change the fire mode of the apb. Nothing that should actually touch the ammo types beyond a texture file (which I have this mod disabled too just to see if that was possibly causing it)

I've noticed since I've been playing since the last patch, Skid's shadow seems to show the wrong suit he's wearing. In my game it looks as if the explorer suit was a debut suit and that the Spark SEVA is showing as an SSP-100. Weird.

Some named weapons have custom stats or come with preinstalled upgrades that cannot be replaced or removed, but I think the Journalist weapons are just skins of standard versions.

I know the MP5 one, the AR one, the revolver one, the PKM one, the Riemann SMG one, and the shotgun one all have base stats plus a different skin. The Veteran Vintar has a cool custom skin and at least one unchangeable upgrade on it.

The Stalker games have always been designed in ways to make maps feel very large. Foot travel to new areas and exploration is a big part of that, I would say.

I love exploring too, but if you're just clearing the map at every point and exploring everything that's not the same as just traveling from one point to another. You made it seem like walking an almost straight road between two map points took 6 hours.

I think you're right, it possesses a higher potential stat total when fully upgraded as compared to fully upgraded stock Lavina. The Veteran Vintar has this same advantage, if I remember right.

honestly i would love to use stuff like the lavina and the s-14 more but it's semi-rare ammo and my performance is not good. my meta strat is to use semi-autos with massive scopes to be able to headshot stuff while peeking out of cover

This is a valid strategy, to be fair. I prefer semi-auto rifles and headshots from cover or distance. Enemy NPCs can shoot full auto with laser accuracy no matter what gun they have, and their shotguns might as well be sniper rifles for how they hit you from any distance. Close range combat in the open on anything but Rookie difficulty is basically just guaranteed health loss, bleeding, and a massive armor repair bill.

When you collect all the lesser Journalist stashes, th story leads to you a specific location for the final stash, it requires a code to access too, so it's deliberately gated. I'm unsure if you can just go directly to it and access it ahead of time if you know the code though, since I didn't access it until I was supposed to.

Second playthroughs are where to use guides and mods. Vanilla runs you can get the best experience from just enjoying the game as designed. The problem for some of us was that the bugs interfered, and not everyone was as patient as I was haha
