A shader cache is where your compiled shaders (they make things pretty) are stored for easy and fast access so you dont have to compile them whenever they show up in game

hey, i need a little help, i bought stalker 2 on release and noticed almost instantly that i cannot play without DLSS, which isn't the problem, however on medium settings with a 5800x, 32GB ram and a 3070 i notice 40-50 fps and drops to 20-30 fps in populated areas, is there any actual mod that helps with optimization or am i done for?

you may look at some optimization mods, they may give you +5-10 fps here and there, but the game itself should be running mostly pretty fine now after 1.1 (usually ||rostok|| is the worst area related to npc), about settings in general I think probably the most taxing are hair, shadows, and foilage based on my testing

They’ve likely tried to address it in that case, thus breaking the mod.

The issue with patches is that most of the time, the data that’s causing the issue is already written in the save. Only suggestion I have is reverting to a save from before you encountered said bug, or ask GSC specifically if their attempt to remedy it should apply to previous saves as well. If the answer is yes, I’d let them know that it didn’t work.

There is one I have found for the specific issue but it only takes the damage it causes away. The illusionary enemies and charging phantoms still spawn and can damage you. Make sure you take pills every time you leave psi radiation

Okay A-life definitely works now.
I heard gunfire and screams, looked down from top of a cliff down to a river bank where bloodsucker was mauling a bunch of Varta boys.
Managed to save one of them, help him out with a medkit. He wasn't very grateful but I suppose that's lore friendly.
I continued by the river but after about 2 minutes another bloodsucker jumped at me. Took him down with a boomstick and while I was patching myself up,
distant shots started to land on me, but I couldn't see anything in the dark and throug the foliage,
so I just sprayed my Viper in the general direction and ran away.
Terrain didn't let me come back around soon enough, so by the time I got to the place where shots were firing from there was just a bunch of dogs running around.

Then I got near the windmill village and from the distance loners were fighting off pigs and dogs,
Just as I wanted to help them, military guys showed up and started mowing down everyone. Died once cause I was too in the open.
Later I fought them off but the loners were swiss cheese.

I looted the soldiers and started approaching the village again, having the main street stretching in front of me.
LOUD bloodsucker scream again. I look down my AK sight and what do I see? An un-masked bloodsucker strolling at me at leisurely pace, but barely visible, about 150 meters down the road.
As I started taking shots at him he immediately went invisible and started sprinting at me.
I was carrying too much stuff to fight him off.

i think imma just wait few months at this point untill the game is even more polished up, just too many problems, i think they never actually tested any minimal spec hardware or playtested it at all at these specs, some locations are just plain unplayable (Cooling towers expieriencing nasty 1 second freezes every literally 10s for example for msot of the area) minimal spec is a lie, sure you get 40 maybe even sometimes 60 fps but does that matter when you have heavy freezes even when running everything correctly? imagine trying to aim at someone's head in a big fight and then your game decides to freeze at that moment, cursor is somewhere and you get shot without even time to readjust after freeze.
