The items would be either for crafting or vendoring for cash - not unnecessary. The traders could be used as a quick method of buying the items for cash instead of painstakingly hunting every part down yourself.

I don't know about stalker but generally the streamlined workflow and ease of use along with possibilities of ue5 makes devs blind to its performance and visual problems, which are both huge. I believe that too but BG3 was one of the most successful launches I've ever seen and it had a 2 year early access period. You basically can't QA test a game like stalker 2 without a massive team and GSC did pretty good job of fixing a majority of the bugs in the first month of game releasing. Hello Games was a smaller studio with bad management so they struggled a lot but fixed their game, CDPR was a massive studio but was pressured into releasing the game and flopped, it took them a year to fix the game. This is how industry works these days and I don't see a solution other than excessive early access periods.

I've finished it 5 times and didn't encounter a single bug but I havent encountered any game breaking bugs in the release day of Stalker 2 so maye I'm kinda lucky, but this only proves my point. Early access of bg3 only had access to the first act so majority of the feedback was from either mechanics or that part of the game. There are bugs and problems in games because of lack of QA testing (takes money, time and workforce) and lack of patience from investors (important for money and time).

there is no simulation of NPCs outside ot the map you are in and at that, NPC simulation was rather rudimentary as most of it was cut out due to bugginess and performance, COP did away with even more
considering how the old AI worked, you can say its closer to how the AI rn works which is a dynamic spawning system that loads NPCs close to you, without it being dynamic since it isnt dynamically loading cells, its loading single istances

outside of the map simulation was something existant in the leaks of SoC, and it was introduced and refined in AMK a 2007 mod, and subsequently integrated in almost all mods thereafter
