by profit scale, they are similar, and the things you mentioned don't have anything to do with the development of a game. they are separate, and companies do not weigh those things when weighing the profitability of a game itself compared to its cost of development. Games themselves, as a singular product, are far less profitable at scale and take far longer to generate a return. That's why your games prices finally went up 10 dollars after almost 20 years, and why developers have to prioritize releases so that they can start getting that money back.

While that is true, most people have forgotten that the actual cost of development has gone down tremendously .

The game still needs a lot of polish and optimization, that’s just simple fact as GSC themselves also admitted to the fact that this is not what or how they intended the state of the game being on release. There’s resource debt in the game that can be smoothed over and clear issues around certain triggers misfiring to initiate or progress quests. Everyone’s experience is different, some struggle more due to dated hardware, others just get unlucky with their machine and the game not getting along regardless of spec. What is however incredibly evident is how CPU bottlenecked the game currently is and that needs to be resolved as best they can or A-Life is dead in the water.

50 hours in and I like it but my biggest gripe is drum roll A-life (surprise!), the ambushes scripts that activates right at the moment you pick up/activate something and BOOM enemies spwan all around you while no one was around for kilometers... I've always loved you Stalker but it's complicated to see theses backwards steps that kills the immersion. ☹️
I get it that scripts need to be there but they're too obvious, a game like this should make you feel like there are no scripts, like NPCs have "free will" and for example are hiding somewhere before ambushing someone and even better we should be to be able to FIND them before they ambush you but given the performance issues, I doubt we'll ever the this kind of immersion.
I needed to confess but I still have hope of course with the future updates and mods.

There indeed was some false marketing like promising a-life 2 etc., but let's be honest you should not pre-order a game without reviews if you're not an absolute fan like me. If you don't like the game so much then you should've refunded it, simple as.

They’ve stated they’re grateful for the support and positivity surrounding the game but wish to see it in a better state themselves as well. it's both though, because there is some necessity to a higher price, when you're dumping hundreds of millions into projects at a time, burning through liquid capital. The only solution to that is to cut back the scale of releases, but we can't do that because Gamers want their games to be bigger and epic and better everytime. People have to realize that Publishers are also the main cause of why these video games are so high in price. They take a cut because they publish the games and get the advertising out too. I was having that issue, potential fixes are saving then loading. If that doesnt work (didnt for me) you have to catch aggro of an enemy from the ||sphere|| closest spot) and lure them back to ||Zalyssa|| then kill them once you do that the people inside the building should shuffle out and start fighting

if you go for a 100% method like DLAA or turn off supersampling altogether just make sure you turn off the sharpening. I think it's 20% default because it's assumed people will run it with supersampling, but without it makes it look kinda staticky and weird.

Haven’t had any issues with DLSS causing issues in S2.
It could be that you’re using too aggressive of a preset at the resolution you’re at.

Generally for 1080p it is recommend to run DLAA or Quality if you must.
1440p you can go as low as balanced but below that is not recommended due to fidelity loss.
4K you can go as low as performance because of the high native resolution meaning you’re upscaling from near 1080p I believe.

If wholly new, I’d say try downloading the latest driver from Nvidia again, this time instead of express install say custom and ask it to wipe all previous settings.

Tbh, FrameGen is ONLY good and ONLY feels good when you're already getting good framerates. Like if you have 30 FPS and use FG it has TERRIBLE input lag. If you have 60-80 FPS and use FG then it feels perfectly acceptable.

If I'm playing at 4k, with a stable 50FPS with good frame times... with a 7800x3D and a 6800(non-XT) it's a YOU problem and not just "hurr durr game bad optimization hurr durr". Considering this all started over issues with DLSS enabled when it comes to foliage. Only thing else I can think of is a bad tweak in the engine.ini or just pure unlucky with a rare issue as I haven’t seen anyone online complain about staticky looking foliage with DLSS on, however if you turn off all forms of TAA/upscaling then yes the game becomes a mess but that’s just about any UE title without TAA or upscalers because the engine is wholly built with them in mind.

personally i just stayed away from ini engine tweaks for my 3080, and only use PAK mods and the game runs fine for me but not every computer is the same, it could run well in cp2077 while runs poorly in witcher 3 a number of things could go wrong with just some ini tweaks that can cause bugs like this to surface...

No I get that there’s a back & forth issue happening but Threat Interactive themselves are very much opposed to Epic’s “don’t care” attitude about how it pushes its tech and documents it for developers.

I’m not a dev, just someone that likes to get to know more about things. I won’t claim to have all the knowledge but from the way TI was painting it, it seems like a lot of the fault also lies at Epic’s feet for justified reasons. Devs dont intentionally / purposefully make their games run like poop. Generally with UE5 games it comes down to the built in technologies unreal provides that allows studios to shortcut having to do various things like create LOD's (thanks to nanite). This sounds good on paper but generally these technologies are too good to be true, and are designed to be used by more than just video games (think commercials or CGI where FPS doesnt matter). From what i have read this seems like the issue with UE5

I think a large problem is too, that todays "low graphics" option is equal to the ultra options of just a few years ago. People don't want to use "low graphics" though becuase that implies their computer isn't "good enough" or what have you. Everyone wants to think their PC, and PC gamers are especially guilty of this, is the top tier cause they bought a pre-built for an absurd amount of money. Resolution plays a MASSIVE factor in games performance as well, between 1080p-1440p-2160p, the demand on the GPU SKYROCKETS. And people don't seem to get that.

@amber arch I think TI has a grudge against UE/Epic and it shows in their comments on the videos and his reactions in his Discord. It comes off VERY biased. Either way, STALKER 2 runs far worse than any other modern game on my system and I don't think a 20-30 minute shader startup that not even other Unreal engine 5 games have is acceptable.

If I takes 20-30 minutes to get to the main menu while Ready or Not gets into it's main menu faster, game clearly is borked. (Since you don't even have the excuse of being an open world as it's just a few guys at a campfire.)

Fair enough, I can see the genuine frustration their operation has with Epic. Though likely some parts are overemotional reactions they’re based part in an objective truth.

End of the day, the game industry is onto some nasty trends in terms of cutting corners where before proprietary solutions would be used before. I hope we continue to see more optimization for S2 as it is currently quite badly CPU bottlenecked for not directly apparent reasons.
I don’t think they’ll be upgrading to 5.4 or 5.5, or I think it’s a longshot atleast due to them working off a custom fork of 5.1. I know UE is somewhat plugin based so maybe they could update the Lumen but I’m not sure how all the other stuff would go porting wise when it comes to the game’s code.

That's the part I'm wondering, if they'll be updating to newer versions of UE5. I'm sure over the years the game(stalker 2) will get way better so it'll be interesting to follow. I bought a 6800 for 300 bucks on eBay, the 4090 when it launched was 1599$ atm you can't seem to find one under like 2k. The 5090 will "probably be" sub 2k or at the 2k mark. If you get the 5090 in the first year it'll stay around that mark till later when it skyrockets cause "people just pay it". We are comparing Dial-Up to DSL not DSL to a modern connection. DSL when compared to Dial-Up was LIGHT YEARS ahead of it. When my household went from Dial-Up to DSL it was like a whole new world opened up.

Dial up was like 56kb/s, DSL, when it's a good ran line and not too long, was netting you like 3 MB/s. MASSIVE leap in bandwidth.
