The game limits you to 31 save files. Ultimately it's tough. You could save every hour but the fact that you can't name your saves manually will make it a B to find the best save to load.

I've been thinking that you could represent the entire map as a low-resolution grid and simulate all the activity on that grid. Then, as the player gets closer to specific areas, you assign precise coordinates to the elements in those areas. Essentially, you use the grid to manage NPCs or monsters by having them "fight" or move around simply by changing their positions on the grid. This keeps the simulation lightweight while still allowing for detailed interactions when needed.

A lot of the quest bugs that locked players from progressing the story are fixed, common mutant health (Boars, Flesh and Bloodsuckers) have been fixed and don't feel like absolute tanks anymore
IMO I think it's been slightly overtuned
Economy changes like lower armor and weapon repair costs in addition to more money per quest completion
The game feels a lot better QOL-wise now but there's definitely still some "anomalies" to be fixed

I THINK I figured out what's causing crashes with inventory and stashes. I found that "sorting" my inventory is leaving some squares empty. Tried to move things into them, and most are red. BUT. Found two that turn yellow when you try to move something to them... The second I let go of the mouse button, CRASH. Things being in them before when I was having difficulties with other saves may have been the problem in the first place. Something is broken in the inventory files...

Comparing performance on poorly optimized game doesn't make sense. Intel has lots of problems with their latest CPU. They tend to destroy themselves and Intel often refuses refund. X3D chips from AMD are currently the best gaming CPUs you can buy. Unless you can really good deal on the Intel and you are willing risk it I would grab that 7800X3d

My CPU is 5.5ghz, I reduced it to 5.1ghz and I had 0 crashes, and never do in any game I play, unless the game itself does not like alt-tabbing or minimizing it. This literally allowed me to play stalker OG games, Cyberpunk and many other heavy hitter games with 0 crashes. Cyberpunk wont even open on 5.5ghz. You just lose like 0.4ghz the difference is minimal, like 1 fps lmao

The goal for UE5 is to make everything more streamlined when upgrading engine versions and each version improves on this.

I'm not a game dev, just a normal dev, but I imagine it's definitely a difficult job, even more so due to the fact they have a customised version. Definitely not their priority either. Plus, I suppose, not a guarantee it would help. From what I can see though, 5.1 is plagued with complaints online of bad performance. But also consider the fact they're using such a 'young' version of UE5, so tons of issues/bugs exist that haven't been fixed.

Often updates like this come with lots of breaking changes and requires changing of code (refactoring) to bring it up to the new preferred ways of doing things.

Personally I am just about satisfied about performance, but I don't like the future trend of basing 60FPS targeting on frame gen, that is a shame. I happen to have a OP rig though, but most don't, so I sympathise.

My current biggest complaint is terrible AI and character glitchyness. World feels like a tech demo, beautiful but empty and when you DO see things they're janky af. And the old A Life was truly a marvel for its time, we don't get that at all. It just feels like a default unreal engine spawn system or something.

They were probably developing the game on that version for a long time. It's not a good idea to swap versions in the middle of development for various reasons. There can be smaller or bigger differences between each version of an engine, in terms of how the engine handles various things, shading, animation, etc. and even minor differences can cause huge bugs in-game

I just wanna say that if it was not STALKER 2 we are talking about and the fact that the game has so long grace period for obvious reasons related to its development the patience would be long gone. I am enjoying the game even with its flaws but if it wasnt for a fact im on PC and can use developer console mod to fix the game myself I would be refunding. Is it safe to say that the young people playing this dont quite understand the specific charm this game is trying to achieve? Its not escape from tarkov. Or farcry. Its much more than that. Game now runs at below 10 FPS. (Game was reaching 40 on EPIC settings, which I was only using because Artifacts wouldnt' spawn otherwise due to another bug that has not been fixed as far as I'm aware.)

So for me, game now has a chance of crashing and when I get in, the game runs at unplayably low FPS.

Hell I had the main menu run at 5 FPS the first time I booted up the patch, something is seriously wrong. (And it's not just me, other people have reported having far worse performance after patch 1.1)

So for me, STALKER 2 went from a janky but fun when it works game I could play, to an unplayable slideshow.

I will try the second patch but it doesn't actually list that it fixes my issues so I'm not holding my breath.

IMO the game is missing only one thing - roaming/camping NPC's and mutants, more events, more things to do. The world is huge and has incredible potential for future content expansion. Now it's more of a A-B walking simulator with decent main and side quests. But I see huge potential, just need to figure out A-Life and fill that empty areas.
Other than that it seem perfect. (especially with emerging modding scene fixing everything wrong with balance and gameplay tuning)

Yes some of the artifacts spawn under the ground and you cant reach them. Best to report those to CSG so they can fix that. Also noticed that a lot of anomalies moved from their places after the last patch. Really messes with my artifact hunting walking all the way only to find out the artifact spawned under the ground 😩

It's not only you brother. Luckily for me it has just been random spawn artifacts that have spawned under the ground. Usually reloading my save fizes that since that seems to spawn them in a different location. It's also always artifacts that I have previously gathered that spawn underneath the map, not sure what that is about. As for dedicated artifacts I have been lucky and have not had any problems with them.

Oh for sure, we just dont level up in the sense that an XP meter goes up but we do progress naturally through we find. It's all gear based rather than level based. Where RPGs typically do both,

And yeah it's hard to draw hard lines for generes since they're more like "guidelines" to help explain the feel of a game and what you can expect.

Not feeling it. The concept of "getting better gear to progress" doesn't seem to be that important in S2, at least for me. I also got a sidequest to do in Prypiat, except I haven't unlocked this part of the map yet, and this made ask myself: what the point of this open world then ?

I don't know, I could be totally wrong by the time I finish the game, but I think it all boil down to the lack of persistence + lack of tracked stats/relations and no real differences between the factions outside of the cutscenes.

its very interesting tho since the game douls out very specific rewards and gear depending on your progression in map and story, for example, in the Lesser Zone youll be using Toz and stuff, but as soon as youre out you have access to better gear for example, GP37's and M870s and stuff, and after sticcking with the main story for a bit youll move on to the Fora211 and so on and so forth till you get to yanov and you get Dnipros and Saiga12's

dumb question but I gotta ask, are you starting a new save after the update? Because even if they fix something your old save is likely to have the same issues no matter what because it is already busted.

If you are starting a new save then I have nothing for you, and I know people are going to say "I shouldnt have to restart" But if you are encountering a bug and the patch claims to fix it. Then that is a save issues sadly. I dont know your case so id look at the patch notes and see if they addressed what your crash is.

Personally I think the A-life criticism is well deserved. It's a core feature that was both advertised and people were looking forward to. The complaint are very valid. Personally A-life was never what drew me to the stalker games but I do understand why people are complaining about A-life not being in the game. Discrediting their complaints is in bad taste but so is coming into this server guns blazing and lashing at anybody and anything they can cause they cant keep their emotions in check.
