Because some Modders thought adding a lot of junk items creating realism. For example, I have seen wet underwear, porno magazines, damaged ammo, tobacco, cocaine (the Misery team leader was a well-known coke-head) and all sorts of crap (picture of my loot provided). One time in Anomaly when I was first giving it a try, I looted someone killed by others at the Loner base in the Cordon. There was other gunfire and enemies in the area, so I ran over to them and saw a huge inventory of items and decided to grab all. Suddenly I couldn't move, and I realized I had 70kg of junk, including a lot of junk parts for weapons and other things. I dumped some quickly and got inside the building, but I started getting radiation poisoning, so I took something for it. Didn't help. Lacking experience, I fumbled around, not realizing at the time, I was missing specialized containers for placing the artifacts in, while in my inventory. Unable to resolve the radiation situation, I used my meager supply of anti-rads and medkits before I died. Sure, I can appreciate some people loving the easter-egg hunt quality of searching high and low for parts to create the perfect Frankenstein AK, but I just wanted to explore the Zone, not being constantly constrained by the lack of or excess items of a junk inventory.
