You are no longer looking for flash drives like in Clear Sky to obtain upgrades given to the Repair Techs. Don't automatically shoot anyone based on how they look or what Faction they are in, before you identify that they are neutral or enemies. You are now earning Achievements for various actions and events, that determine what rewards and improvements you find in your daily life. The Skadovsk is your home now.

There are different types of Saves in the game. If you jabbed a F-number key, those are Quick Saves and Quick loads. Quick Saves are easy to use but they are limited in number, constantly overwrite each other since you get about 2, and are subject to corruption and getting bugged. If your last Quick Save was not in a good place, you are screwed. For that reason, I recommend making manual Saves. You do that by hitting escape and creating a name for each manual save. It takes more time, but you can have unlimited number of these, and you make them at specific locations so that if something goes wrong you can return to an earlier time, when things are good, you have good equipment and you are not in danger. Manual Saves will resolve 98% of all game problems. Many people rage quit the games because their only Quick Save failed them, and they have gotten so gar to the end of the game and then have nothing if it is bugged or corrupted.

After Yantar, your PDA told you to go meet Doc in the Agroprom Underground, where he gave you the key to open the Pripyat apartment, that contains the Decoder. The Decoder opens the vault door, near the hallway that goes to the Wish Granter, but instead you continue with some more action, and then you are back outside, where you can eventually get 1 of 2 True endings in the game.

SoC was released in 2007 for events that takes place in 2012. The prequel Clear Sky came out in 2008, for events that take place in 2011. When SoC was made, the idea for Clear Sky didn't exist yet.

The way was cleared for Stalkers to finally enter Rostok but the paths to the Marshes were lost, by the events of 2012. That is sort of a vague way to describe how you ret-con a so-called prequel (Clear Sky) that actually came out as a sequel to the first game SoC. Sorry if this is confusing.

Of course if you play CoC or CotZ, all the Marshes and Clear Sky are there with most but not all the people from Clear Sky.

If you play a long game of SoC and make many return trips back and forth to the Cordon, Nimble starts acting erratic. He will leave the safety of the Rookie Village and will go over across to the road on the eastern side of the Cordon main road. Nimble will run back and forth to the Car Park as if he is reliving his escape attempt with the Player, and eventually he is usually found dead in those hills, a victim to the Military or mutants. It is Tolik that is the smart one that stays put and lives longer. My favorite thing to do is go back to the Rookie Village to ask how Tolik is doing.

Just understand that when you make the second game a prequel (Clear Sky) AFTER the first game came out (Shadow of Chernobyl) the first game is not going to be able to include events that were not even made up yet. A prequel is BEFORE and sequel is AFTER, which makes the events in Call of Pripyat a sequel to the events in Shadow of Chernobyl.

But for more connection and just because all the games before were good, I would recommend it to anyone.
