It's not that Sid betrays the Player because we don't know if Strelok had a gas mask on with his earlier conversations with Sidorovich. It's just that after a certain point in SoC, the Player might/might not realize, that everything Sidorovich, Barkeep and Sakharov are doing > benefits Duty. The Player is basically doing everything for Duty through Duty's intermediaries. That is why after X-18, after the WT and after X-16, Duty sends its men to all those locations to guard the level changers and guard the Mobile Lab. This is not betrayal in any way. General Voronin actually warns the Player not to listen to Colonel Skull and his renegade Duty. Once you step into the AW, you are on your own. The AW Duty is not the same as the rest of Duty. I have Duty as my ally and when I got to the AW, I make an ally out of Freedom. Each faction even has their own paths to take when they get to Pripyat.

The best way to describe Call of Pripyat, is to imagine that GSC created a large amusement park and went to various locations all around the Exclusion Zone, and brought all these various individual buildings, structures, ships or whatever, and placed them inside their Zaton/Jupiter amusement park. The Player will walk to each ride/location, where they will meet men/mutants/anomalies/artifacts and interact with them. For the most part there are stretches where you walk between the rides/locations where not much may happen. @granite mortar

In the 1.5.3 through 1.5.8 patches, I had to kill about 450 Renegades to reach Veteran rank. With then 1.5.10 patch making the entire game easier, I think you have to kill only about 225 Renegades to reach Veteran rank before leaving the Marshes. 1.5.10 was made SO much easier because people complained Clear Sky was too hard. The Faction Wars also got gimped, to make the game easier and to get more game stability.

The Chaser-13 is really the best shotgun in SoC and CS. The SPSA-14 is a lot heavier and the extra rounds are not worth it for its slow reloading. It took me awhile to realize that since I automatically thought the shotgun with the most rounds was the best.

The Hunting shotgun does not take shot so it is worthless to me.

Yes, it is useful to shoot people from afar but it's not worth it to carry around all the time with the slugs and darts rare to find and it's two round limitation.

All the Stalker games are great because when you play them again and again, you realize how to be better and do things better. I never mean to imply anyone is doing anything wrong when they first play. I only try to help.

The benefit of a flamethrower is that it's one of the few AoE type of weapons. Instead of having to kill things 1 by 1, you can spray a larger idea with it. I'd imagine it being quite effective against hordes of rodents. Grenades work too, but those are kind of harder to control.

I think the logic behind requirement to eat would be adding a little bit psychological pressure to just not idle around doing nothing productive for too long since techincally you're losing money constantly
