Theoretically in universe anatomy of the creatures can make a headshot less than optimal. A real life example would be something like a bear their skulls are so thick you wouldn't penetrate for a head shot with anything but a high caliber handgun or rifle. So studying int he anatomy makes sense,

The description of mercs from the PDA encyclopedia in Shadow of Chernobyl implies that they are a proper faction with a base:

The most clandestine and secretive faction in the Zone; some don't even believe in its existence. There are those who regularly use the Mercs' services as they are true pros, able to quickly deal with any stalker and even annihilate a small group of opponents. Their services do not come cheap - the Mercs demand a king's ransom for their services in money or artifacts. The location of their base remains a secret, suggesting that it is deep inside the Zone

Logically you would think it would be several small factions lumped together. Unless there is only one merc company that managed to get access to the zone. Then killing eachother during opposing missions would be a problem

It was hated because it was default. Don't mistake the quality of the music (listened by itself and not in the game), for being forced to have it blare at you, the moment you are attacking the Renegades at the Pump Station or Church. Players want to hear the sound of their weapons, the scream of enemies, your Clear Sky members yelling commands, the background low-key atmospheric music. Liking the music is one thing. Being forced to have it scream at you and overpower all other sounds in the Game is why it was disliked. Those are two entirely different things.

You have to do all of sidorovich's artifact hunting quests.

You don't find it. You get it by giving 5 artifacts in sequence (all at the same time) when Sidorovich gives you the task. The hardest artifact to find is the 5th one, a Night Star.

If you fail a quest because you didn't return to collect the reward on time is that it or can you retry it?

Maybe it's 4. There are three free armors or suits in the games that each require 4 or 5 artifacts each. They come from Sidorovich, Barkeep and Sakharov. The trick is if you get the first task for an artifact and give it, you will get the next artifact task. If you don't have it on you, after 24 hours it will fail and then reset to the first artifact. For that reason, it is advised to have ALL the artifacts on you before you start the sequence. For example, the first Night Star in the game is usually found in the Agroprom, in the far south-east corner, in an anomaly field.

Sidorovich wants (1) Jellyfish (2) Meat Chunk (3) Stone Flower (4) Night Star. Its been a while since I have done this, so if anyone knows better and wants to correct me, I don't mind.

In shadow of chornobyl artifacts have collision so you can shoot them or throw grenades at them. That's how I had to get the night star.

Yes, the Agroprom corner is very difficult. It is easy to knock it out of bounds. Very frustrating. This is why you make a manual save (not quick save) before you start your attempt.

The best way to hunt it is to have artifacts that cure radiation so you don't get killed

Enderal is a total conversion. CoC is deliberately supposed to be the most generic base that compiles features and locations from the trilogy so that add-ons could expand upon it. CoC is supposed to be played with add-ons.

Which is why Anomaly is so annoying is it objectively upgraded that base but added its own flavour which is a pain to remove with a ton of addons
