in terms of the zone itself CoP definitely took a turn towards a more "realistic" interpretation with existing pripyat locations, SoC had this phantasmagoric location design and approach to worldbuilding in general, most of the locations are either made up or drawn off places that have nothing to do with the Chernobyl zone

and narrative it's ughhhhhhhhhhh
SoC carries on its shoulders multiple dead corpses all with their own themes and stories, is it a futuristic sci-fi game, an insane story about contemporary ukrainian politics and soviet scientists, or something down-to-earth? every single one of those messily cut narrative threads is amazing, but that's the problem, they're cut, only a faint sensation of something much greater and complex remained
CoP, well... It's polished, CoP didn't have 6 years of insane development cycle with essentially 3 different games all replacing each other, not even a major concept change akin to what CS had, but i like it, it's great, a small and insanely atmospheric story about a (somewhat) average stalker, some of the worldbuilding choices are dubious, it's much more down-to-earth than the previous two entries, but it's not necessarily bad

At leasst in my opinion artifact hunting is one of those things that CoP does far better. Playing SoC and CS I barely bothered to hunt any artifacts simply because it was way too easy to just run in and grab it

Possible to do in CoP with good enough gear as well, but usually you actually have to search for theem a bit

Duty in SoC were definitely op, the ones with groza, at least. I once spawned 3 duty veterans and they wiped the whole bandit base like it was nothing

tbh its a gameplay thingy. NPCs in the games aren't exactly snipers

and even snipers need a LOT of tries to hit someone (literally Yar in CoP)
