This is my Polish Tantal 5.45. The Warsaw Pact countries wanted their local versions of weapons that used the same Soviet Union's ammo. I would like to see more stuff like this in the Zone compared to western crap.

I think the best SKS made was my Yugoslavian version. It has the grenade launcher on the tip unlike the other SKS rifles made elsewhere. The fold-out bayonet is pretty cool too.

I see some Mods where someone is carrying a Mosin-Nagant rifle and in my opinion that's a terrible choice for being in the Zone. One time in Priboi Story, the dozen or so Dutyers at the Garbage Checkpoint had to deal with the occasional hostile men and mutants. So, I sold all of them Mosin-Nagant rifles, that are of course bolt action. Within a day or so, they were all dead for having such inadequate weapons.

The AW example, you enter to talk to the Freedom leader. He wants you to engage the Military at their future base. Don't talk to him, instead explore the whole AW. You will find the entire Military Base has zombified Stalkers at it without the Military. Kill all the zombies and they have tons of 5.45BP ammo on them.

Pretty much this rule apples to all the levels after leaving the Marshes where the game wants you to go meet someone first. Do not do that and you will find and see things that you had no idea they are different, if you just follow your PDA like 1 2 3.
