I randomly thought of an idea. How it would be a game blend of S.T.A.L.K.E.R and the horror game Darkwood? Both takes place in post-apocalyptic Chernobyl or cold Soviet lands. But has mysterious horror elements. Now imagine a Stalker game with a dense forest, anomalies, mutants from Stalker universe and bizarre mutants of the Darkwood, supernatural creepy beings which can't be killed with certain types of weapons and some are unkillable. Our PDA shows an overall map of the forest but the compass ain't working for some electromagnetic field. You can craft things, weapons, resources, tent or shed for survival. You can light campfires and torches and signal flares. Maybe you can scavenge for resources and find ammo. You have thirst, hunger etc. stats and have to find food or craft and find water to survive. There can be a lake in some place of the forest as water source. The radiation levels are high in places. The blowouts are in effect. There can be ecologists camp somewhere which can provide you with some supplies. There can be Monoliths and mysterious C-Con entities in places with weird unexplainable phenomena and dangers.

Your goal would be to survive as long as you can in the sandbox. With each nights, various things like mutant and being locations, their creepy habitats, radiation areas, resources and their locations etc. gets randomized.

i'm not sure i can do justice to sheer amount of interesting rpgs and games in general released in the past 5 years, but some that i can remember off the top of my head are: Disco Elysium, BG3, DoS2, Pathologic 2, Rogue Trader, Pathfinder, new Yakuza games, Elden Ring, Sekiro, System Shock Remake, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Prey, OMORI, Funger, Hylics, ATOM RPG, Library of Ruina
this is just a drop in the ocean, point is, there are lots of masterpieces coming out rn, both obscure and fairly popular, you just have to pay attention and be open-minded about what you play

I had the same problem on my 13900k/4090 and what fixed it is Overclock Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel® XTU), I had to downclock the core ratio from 55 to 53. I am not sure how many cores you have. Even then, Stalker crashes, so I had to download unofficial patches like SRB

But without XTU, stalker would crash on start up

Ignore what these hipster gatekeepers say and play Anomaly. Its by far the best free-play mode. But fetch quests are the majority of it with some storylines existing there. It has fetch quests but has the best gameplay out of all mods by far. If you look for story-heavy quests, Anomaly is not what you're looking for.
