I played SoC like a fiend, and CS quite a bit, but I've yet to do faction-specific playthroughs. But I've found it hard to maintain focus during CoP. Apart from some bugs that barred me from some options it's great, so it's probably just a me thing.

I haven't touched mods because their sheer quantity seems overwhelming, although I lean towards relatively conservative ones, so I might try OGSR one day.

No Anomaly, but I should try it eventually in spite of conflicting opinions I've heard. I may not be a STALKER addict, but I think I like it enough to expect to play more.

In SoC, I think it was purely the atmosphere that made me try to actually live in the game.

Only thing I didn't like about CoP is the lack of campfire interactions at all the three safe bases, and that they're all indoors, they don't take place outside.

In SoC, you could walk past a campfire song or story while turning in a mission for Sid or Barman, you could very well take a breather to listen to the happenings while you hear the crackling of the campfire, it was relaxing.

At the Skadovsk and Yanov Station, there was one guitar player at each, but I've rarely seen them play a song, and it wasn't directly in the middle of player traffic either, meaning that you would never even go near it unless you needed to buy meds at Yanov from Bonesetter (Guitar player is on the freedom side)

I've also never seen Guitars playing present at the camps scattered around, probably an issue on my end but that really shouldn't be possible, I've seen more jokes than guitars in CoP, also don't like the the fact that Free Play isn't possible after you get the ending (You have to stay in order to get free play, but you don't see the ending until you decide to leave the zone)

I'd disagree about the Zone's growth, tbh. SoC does presents us the idea about the Zone's growth

There was always something strange about CoP, all the military sentries after you arrive in pripyat get strangely wiped out.

First time, a recon unit is sent out, but they don't return, you get called to look for them, once you do, monolith soldiers are suspected to be the suspects, but the radio transmission doesn't seem to suggest that, they sound scared and horrified, that's not how someone reacts to a monolith patrol, especially the soldiers.

Second time, a sentry goes missing and you need to find him, you do and he kills himself with a controller immediately appearing nearby, but, I've never seen a controller force someone to kill themselves. Remember when the ecologists send you to find the source of the Psy-Emissions in Yanov? With the Loner group? The controller doesn't make them kill themselves, he controls them and turns then hostile against the player, it seems unlikely a controller will force someone to kill themselves, especially since they haven't done so for player at all, another example is the Controller Cave in Zaton, it would be easier for the controller to make the player kill himself so that he isn't a problem later on and brings more people to take him out.

And then there goes the other recon unit, blown up by a grenade, with no controller in sight or nearby, except for the Kindergarten with the Psy Field.

Rogovets is inside the Kindergarten, he hid and ran away scared but he doesn't even know what scared him, he just felt afraid out of nowhere, Controllers haven't done that in the game, they don't scare away victims.

Now finally during evacuation a strange psy field pops up out of nowhere and Rogovets falls to the ground screaming "It's Here!", but the group doesn't fall with him, they just continue running with no problems, a controller would've bumped them all down like they did in Yanov during the ecologist quests.

All of these instances are strange and so confounded, do psy fields move? Do they make people end their lives? So many questions, it'll probably be answered in Stalker 2.
