How do i find better anomaly/artefact detectors in cs? Can't really figure out how to use the echo detector. Not sure if I need to point it at an artefact or if i need to be near one for it to start beeping.

Traders will sell better detectors later on. When an artifact is nearby, the Echo detector will start beeping. The closer you are to the artifact, the faster the beeping rate.

it depends, iirc the only dowside is that you'll get freedom as enemies, so that be a pain when you have to go through some areas like dark valley. I never joined any faction until I finished the game, but looking back at it I should have done it, mostly because then I didn't felt like to keep playing just for those alone.
What I'm sure of is that some weapon schematics are gated behind some unique NPCs, and if any of those dies, like in anomalies or random enemy faction assaults that you can't even control (e.g you are on the other side of the map doing your own business, and somehow a fight gets triggered, after some time you go there and that npc is dead).

So you either farm rep for the annoying factions first (like bandits that have the highest SEVA suite upgrade for the Psy anomalies resistance) or just take a compromise and don't bother.

You won't lose much even if you go Duty and don't have the latest upgrade. The only issue may be if you encounter a Controller or get in those nasty Psy areas but you should be able to snipe him or at worst rush throught those areas by spamming medkits.

Seva suit is basically a jumpsuit with a detachable helmet

While exoskeleton is more of a weird backpack that you attach onto your back, legs and arms

Basically those weird backpacks that pilots had that would go around their thighs during war

And radsuits have a weird design, it looks like chonky kevlar that is too tight

But from what we've seen, everyone is in their suits 24/7

And monolith being monolith, they don't have a need to take it off

it's the most reliable method I know, but yeah it can be annoying. Maybe fill the 2 external stashes with weapons, then when there are no threats around, grab a corpse fill it with them then drag it to the vendor. It's miles better than having to go back and forth to him the normal way.

So what is the difference between Stalker Anomaly and GAMMA?

I haven't played either yet but this is what I found:

From Dead Air spawned Anomaly which added a few more layers of stuff but also added a ton of customization to your experience. It's also fairly stable runs pretty well for most people, being able to run from DX8 which was old even when Shadow of Chernobyl released, do DX11 which was barely coming out by the time Call of Pripyat released.

As for GAMMA it's a modpack of a combination of 300ish mods mashed together into a semblance of stability, each being custom fitted so they don't break one another. The big thing with GAMMA is that you cannot buy weapons and armor. Instead you need to find one you like off of another Stalker, then find and fix parts to repair the armor or weapon you like, using parts from similar weapons. For example, the barrel from an AK-74 might be interchangeable with an RPK, but not the trigger mechanism.

its more like a singleplayer tarkov in the stalker universe than stalker

at least anomaly still feels like stalker but its got a more modern feel to it graphically which doesnt go well as far as replicating the og atmosphere and the story is terrible

i play anomaly and its not a terrible mod as far as freeplay mods go but if you want a good story and a genuine og stalker experience you should play something else

Still from what I saw of gamma, I appreciated how they made the world alive through npcs, and you being able to spawn as one when you die, to refresh the experience. It's things like these that, despite the game being completely different from the OGs, can at least mantain a credible feeling of how the Zone should be.

not really an expert on overhauls yet tbh, but if it's the first time ever you play them, I suggest go the usual way of ZRP/SRP/PRP patches because they fix tons of bugs and crashes for each games. this is something I remembered using on my soc game ~~https://www.moddb.com/games/stalker/addons/in-game-cc-and-subtitles-1-00~~ that makes so that you can have subtitles for most of the npcs talks, and I liked it a lot since it also caption the stalker campfire jokes. consider installing it since on CS and CoP from what I know there aren't any mods like that one, so you'll eventually lose the meaning of those conversations.

Anomaly npcs feels less alive then the triology, + you're describing Azazel mode, quite a few mods have it

You can either set it to be spawned as random NPC after death or the Npc that killed you

Only good thing about Anomaly is it's optimisation

That thing runs better for me than call of pripyat

Do not apply patches to triology, you will miss out on all fun bugs such as:
Corpses getting stretched
Npcs phasing through walls
Npcs crouching, aiming upside down and somehow headshoting you
Longer armor durability
Random crash when while you are taking too much damage and getting healed by artifacts
And many more!

@dire dagger I have a graphical brightness issue, when I use NV and then turn it off in soc, my screen becomes more dark and I have to open my PDA in order to put I back to its original brightness, somehow it automatically switches brightness from some reason. I had this issue with some csgo maps as well

Why does armor deteriorate SO fast in cs? I understand its realistic and a grenade or a few bullets can REALLY destroy any armor. But still man..

bc ppl are stubborn and try to fight against what the game is telling them to do

I only experience granade spam in shotgun range

If you use a sniper they can't even reach you

And most of their granades are too well timed to escape them

After you see the granade spirte, you have to decide between tanking it and reloading a save

Sometimes listening to granade voicelines helps, but not always

I have never experienced grenade spam in vanilla CS and everytime I see someone ebing victim of them they're trying to turtle and lure enemies into a chokehold

You can in CS but only with an optional mod of the SRP patch. The downside is that if you do it outside or on somewhere too exposed there's a % risk that either a boar (or if you are "lucky" even a bloodsucker) will spawn on you while you are waking up
It's not op and that's why I liked it.

I've read everything pro and against the 3gb/4gb/LAA patch for CoP and still don't know what to think about it.
Some people says it actually unlocks the game to use more cpu/ram, others that it doesn't since the engine is capped at 2gb.

well I wouldn't mind optimizing it even more if there's even a small chance to get more fps. So far I noticed that tuning the alife.ltx file does something.
I tried to set it to 1 and the game got very smooth (no micro stutter since all NPCs disappeared) but I'm still experimenting with it making so I can spot any stalker at the end of my fov while I'm running.

And not them teleporting behind me out of nowhere (caused by the too low setting)
