I'm pretty new as well but as far as I understand SOC is the first game and a pretty good game, clear skies is the second game and is pretty meh, call of pripyat is the third and best base game. I personally jumped straight onto anomaly as its basically a modded version of the game that combines all three. But it has a lot of mods so don't expect a vanilla experience at all. There is also Gamma which is a even larger mod pack. But I've heard that one is pretty hard so I'd avoid if it you're new.

I tried SOC when I first started but I found it pretty boring but Anomaly is a lot more fun.

CoP did introduce a small change in artifact spawn system. Artifacts are set invisible, tied to spawn points and set to refresh after each emission occurrence.

Artifact chances are tied to another factor, anomaly tiers. Anomalies have 3 tiers: weak, normal, and strong.

Each anomaly type has its own set of artifacts each with its own chance depending on the nature of the anomaly and its tier.

Artifacts have different tiers too, and the lower it is, the more likely to come across.

Some artifacts are excluded from spawns and rather classified as quest items, just like the compass, etc..

SoC had a similar system, but it was more tied to anomalous fields terrains, or even random spawn points!

With arsenal overuhaul you can pick a strong gun and put anyone to sleep the trick is to run to the construction site and go left in the small warehouse, the ai is too dumb and go after you so you can pick one by one

I'm nearly done playing through CoP for the first time, is it worth it to get all the achievements?

Yeah, you beat it and it asks "Do you want to leave The Zone?" if you say yes the game is over, if you say no you can keep playing until you want to end your save file

At that point I wouldn't really need any benefits

Out of curiousity, in CoP + Gunslinger

Lynx or the Tide? Struggling to settle on which one to roll as my main long range, anti-human weapon. For anti-mutant I was using the Steppe Eagle but I've ugpraded to that .45 MP5.

Gunsgliner uses Code Injection to mod CoP,and code injection is used in a lot of viruses,this is why most Anti Virus apps block every Code Injection attempt
its not a virus or malware but if you feel uncomfortable just use other gun packs
