It's really really cool that we have a new generation of guys at GSC who are taking these classic areas and adding an unprecedented level of detail and fidelity

Like if you compare SoC buildings to the new ones, you gain both a massive appreciation for how the old guard managed to use these crummy flat textures and low-quality meshes to create something that looks VERY realistic, to the way that we have new skilled artists bridging the gap and making it look like something you could literally touch, like a photograph

both are very impressive and I am very happy to see these areas faithfully recreated

dude I have massive respect for the GSC environment artists using X-ray. Even today I think the game looks gorgeous, especially the anomalies. Like you can tell for instance with the gravitational ones, when you throw a bolt, it just has a low-poly sprite fade in, but because the art direction is so good, you don't care

Didn't share, didn't hint, didn't even give it an extra thought. It was a hype killer and super unfair to us all not just the team. The only thing that gave me consolation is that the leak was early build content which is not even close to the current build they are working on rn. Announcing main DLC before your game launches, or, announcing major DLC without being super clear about what it is leaves your audience to debate wether or not they are cutting main game content to pack into DLC.
