If all the npcs in the world spawn at the corners of the map/location and then just move naturally through the zone then you can temporarily clear out locations, you can see the movements of npcs and make "predictions" about the changes in the world, you know that you can't just despawn that one annoying bloodsucker by moving away from it, etc

What's immersive is to find a group of other people fighting it or the same bloodsucker sucking some of that blood of random guy that wasn't lucky) and more impactful (Instead of deflecting random encounters you are "shaping" the zone by your actions). Small examples because, yet again, the system from original games and from mods even is still pretty unbaked but it already delivers a good experience. You know what, just gave Shadow of Chernobyl Enhance Edition a spin for an hour on GeForce Now with my Xbox controller. People are massively overblowing the issues... Runs at a smooth 60FPS, not seeing this blur effect everyone is complaining about and I think I'd only notice these poor AI texture differences if I squinted or zoomed in whilst playing. Upscaled cutscenes look 10x better too. It's nice to just pick up and play OG Stalker with a controller without having to install ZRP or like a bajillion mods to just get it running in a functional state. I'm sure they'll patch in these bugs and bad AI upscales people are pointing out

Thing is, when the console version came out a year ago and I covered it, I remember lots of people asking when this update was coming to PC

it's handy, man. Gamepad support is good, lets you use remote play, stream from your phone on geforce now, Steam Workshop lets you carry the same mods from your PC to steam deck seamlessly without corrupting your save or game build

And the games do look far better. Grass shadows finally work on PC! Grass also renders much further, clouds move in the sky leaving shadows beneath them, atmosphere is given a big boost without changing the look of the vanilla games which I love. It basically does what MOTZ did in SoC but far more reliably and I love that. I also love how CoP finally looks how it should with grass rendering as far as the eye can see (with shadows, lol) and the SSR gives Zaton a much thicker, muggy feel

Haven't done it myself, but people who posted even script mods say that ltx editing does not work. Whether it's banned or a bug is unclear but the vanilla files take precedence.

It hardlocks animations and hinder free movement, meaning it feels very clunky as tho you are lagging and losing inputs, a good way to test this is by very fast starting a sprint, jumping and while in the air aiming, in the OGs this would be quick and immediate but OG gunslinger has a bug in the animations that doesn't allow that

The downgrades: file bloat, higher system specs (even after you disable all the fancy new features, it still won't launch on anything below 980), no multiplayer, censored textures (GSC started reversing some of them but still not all), removed RU VA (there undoubtedly are non-russians playing with it so it still inconviniences people who did not deserve it), very poorly done red cross removal (just b&w filter), out of place non-stop product placement, lots of new bugs, some fixes are incorrect, controversial gameplay changes, some features removed/broken, multiplayer entirely gone, no 4:3 support (that used to fix many UI bugs, now not an option).
