I used 4060 at 1080p with medium textures and it was fine. ~6gb vram usage then. But 1440p i can for sure see 3070 running out of vram

Speaking of vram, in the bf6 campaign, steam overlay is showing 17.1gb/15.9gb vram usage. But my fps is fine and not really any stutters or anything

While you might be right. genuinely my Vram never goes above 7gb and its not even a full 7gb it just goes to 7000 flat my RAM never goes above 55% so its not spilling over.

I started playing more it eventually went above 6000 but for the last 2 hours its stayed at 6800-7000mb

and thats with just the game open. I know enough to close everything before launching this game lol. I know im Vram limited.

yes. Thats why im so confused about it. No other numbers fluctuate other than CPU usage and only the usage. The frequency doesn't change the temps barely move unless its a warm day out. its the ONLY thing that changes.

But it runs at over 100fps id say 70-80% of the time. But every now and then something will cause my cpu usage to drop by 40%. It could be a simple as walking up to a single NPC in the middle of nowhere. Or opening my PDA/Map. Or even inventory. But its never the same thing. Some times sleeping will fix it. some times opening a door fixes it. But its never the same.

At this point I’d seriously suggest turning textures to minimum and trying both 1080p and 720p to rule out any other possible cause besides the GPU itself.

Back when Arma 3 wasn’t properly multi-threaded yet, I had my frames suddenly drop to <5 per second, GPU usage never more than 10%, CPU hovering around 20-25%

Turns out, an excessive amount of looping scripts can hog all available cores, leaving no room for the CPU to keep up the render thread, essentially stopping the GPU dead in its tracks.

Stalker 2 I’ve seen use upwards of 6 cores, but only 4 fully loaded at a time. Not saying this might be the case, but if you’re truly not going over your VRAM budget, I’d chock this up to UE5 walking past itself, or DX12 just being notorious for VRAM budgeting once again.

And yes, 30-40% CPU usage sounds low, but keep in mind that’s an average over every core you have. If it’s hitting the 4-6 core ceiling on a 16 core chip, you might as well be looking at a graph that says 100%

Aside from the resolution and texture setting change, keep a program like process lasso open and look at your average per core usage instead of total, might give a better picture in the end of what’s changing when it happens

2K + DLAA, maximum epic settings with Lumen, 55–65 FPS in the village, 5080 + 7 7800X3D (32GB 6000Mt/s EXPO)
Are these normal numbers for such a system, or do i have some issues? i just see people with 5070 or 4070 getting similar results on the same settings, and i don’t understand whether something’s wrong on my side or if that’s just how it actually works?

Yes, of course, i’ve checked the peak values in benchmarks and ran many tests in other games, everything works stably, plus, i have an undervolt with a slight overclock, so my system is properly tuned and operating as intended. Gotta also check that with MSI`s to check if im not run out of VRAM, but i dont think so.

now i’m watching benchmark videos of the 5080 paired with the 7 9800X3D, and honestly it’s surprising that such a powerful system runs at 50–60 in, either my understanding of what a high end system should deliver has faded, or the developers’ idea of performance is just very loose

All the UE dross makes for a unoptimized rasterisation workload. Then lumen and nanite gets dumped in on that. I just want TAA to die and never return so I can get frames without ghosting. I use to game on a office monitor and it was crazy annoying, bought a high refresh rate monitor and now it's baked into the games.

ill maybe try again sending the current one under warranty another 2-3 times and if i still cant get a new one ill sell it and move to 9700x or 9800x3d

I ran my system through various tests again and once more confirmed that the problem lies in the game, not in my setup, i also enabled low latency mode and activated FG with DLAA Native, in the village im getting around 130 fps, which is really impressive, even without noticeable input lag or image degradation, but before that, i did everything possible to raise the stable fps in heavy locations to a consistent 60–65, so that FG could run smoothly without latency.

Yeah if you have 130 fps with frame gen then you should have every bit of 65 - 70 fps without. Since enabling fg does hit your base fps slightly. Normally

It is pretty insane to me that in the same area at 1440p epic I get nearly the same fps. But recently I actually ended up lowering to High preset instead and i cannot tell any visual difference. Fps (with frame gen on) is consistently hitting 150 - 175

I have cap set to 175 since freesync is enabled & my max refresh rate is 180

It happens in most games, really. Imo, epic/max should never be actually used for normal gameplay. Use Epic for screenshots/cool videos so you get every detail possible and then medium-high for the real gameplay

Idk why some people complain about not being able to max out graphics and have a stable experience. I get it if you have a 5090, but the settings are already ridiculous and barely noticeable in any major way when you are playing

Yes and no. So the sec i had died after i applied the patch but i had it 2 to 3 months running without the first Update. I was running it in lower PL mode for the time till the 1st Microcode update. So idk if it died in december 2024 cuz of the time i didnt had the update or if it died anyway even with the update.
Now i have the 3rd CPU for 8-7 months and its running fine. Got also the latest update from may installed and doesnt look like it has any issues. I need to say tho i did run the CPU at 120W for the summer cuz i cant have a constant 800W output with 40°C outside.
So long term testing is needed.

I mean you can buy it if its around 400$ without needing to pay additional for new mobo.
Has quiet the uplift in performance to 12700K but idk if its not worth to spend extra for a new Mobo and CPU. Depends on what you think.

i run 3440x1440 at medium settings with fsr and fg and i get a pretty consistent 120 fps. so at 1080p i think you should be fine.

Got me 9800X3D at 1440p and it finally got me out of cpu bottleneck with this game for the most part but aint no way crusty 5700X3D get 100+ on 1080p

Also Only time nanite works is when you butcher lod and for that you need to have no lod. Even the maker of nanite said it’s slower so even them self acknowledge that the thing is slow. But some how people don’t want to believe it.

i had one (zotac rtx 3060 with 12gb and amp version), with 1440p. but yeah.. i didnt find it performant enough even on med for long term palying. 60fps is a hard thing wanting with it, mostly it was under that thats why i bought a 5070ti because unrealengine games going wild.

had to limit spirit of the north 2 too to med setting. this card was sadly not enough for actual unrealengiine 🙁 when wanting high+ settings but okai, it served well for 4years. (dang expensive back then while gpu shortage)

the only thing thats still happens is..sometimes it freezes for 2-3 seconds and sometimes its not happening for a hours. it that a bug or somethin to do with the engine cos it often happens on some specific places more often? drivers are newest.
