DX is a library of methods that are already made, you can just use them, Vulkan you are doing everything by hand, which is why its faster most times, its the developers making it specifically for vulkan

An update of the engine to 5.5, specifically, if done correctly, will greatly assist in the actual implementation of ALIFE, if they plan to do so. By freeing up CPU load, I suppose they will be able to improve it further without compromising performance.

The reality is that there are still people who can't play the game properly. Lumen continues to be software-based, and 5.5 could even open the door to RTX implementation, although I don't expect anything.

The way to get A-life working is to overhaul the way they did the zoning, remember reading something sometime ago in an interview or something, but A-life can't be implemented properly, due to the quick and easy way they did the zoning for the games. There was 2 possible way to do it, the long way which meant A-life could be implemented properly, or the quick an easy way, which they took due to swapping from UE4 to UE5, and not with standing the mess the game was in on launch.

Now, what swapping to UE5.5 means, is that it gives them opportunity to address this zoning thing, and do it the proper way, so that A-Life can be implemented as it should have been.

And if the do that, then it doesn't matter what other benefits 5.5 brings, because A-life will be so so so much better for it, and what they sold to us in the first place.

I really doubt that the jump from Unreal 4 to 5 was due to artificial intelligence.

UE4 has been refining its Behavior Trees, Blackboards, and EQS system for over a decade

The problem with Unreal Engine 5 is that even though it supposedly maintains the previous features of Unreal 4, there is junk that interferes with its operation

The World Partition, for example That's why I'm telling you, the jump from Unreal 4 to 5 was surely for many other reasons

All this without mentioning that Lumen and Nanite also place a significant load on the CPU.

I would ask myself to what extent they cannot implement a life, or to what extent they had nothing and were developing it along the way.

Just been playing the game, and been getting crashes when on Slag Heap, the last error message I got was "The paging file is too small for this operation to complete"

I'm running the game on 1440p ultrawide with a 3080, ryzen 5 7600x and 32g ram. I have installed the rusted dawn modpack and I'm using the engine.ini to improve the lod and draw distance.
I'm getting around 40 to 50 fps in most areas and it feels unplayable imo.
I have watched some youtube benchmarks with my graphics card usually paired with a 5800xds and they are getting around 60 to 90 fps.
Is my performance normal considering the mods I'm using and the fact that my monitor is ultrawide?

I'm upgrading from a 1660ti that can play this somewhat stuttery on Low with TSR at 66. I'm getting around 40fps (30-50) outside of towns. Obviously 6gb VRAM is holding me back on top of the card itself being poor for ue5.
I have a r5 5600x CPU (from a 2600 that struggled to get 30fps on STALKER 2). I have a budget that can grab one of the following: RX 6800, RX 7700XT, RTX 3070TI.
I don't know which would perform the best for this game specifically. I don't care about ultra settings or 1440 performance. I just want somewhat solid 1080p60.
XeSS and TSR are my preferred over FSR by default and 3070 will give the benefit of having DLSS but I genuinely don't care too much between the options to have that be a swaying factor.
Any opinions/experience welcome, thanks.

I wouldnt consider the 3070ti cause it only has 8gb of vram and all the cards with less than 10gb struggle on this game

I would go for the 7700xt cause although it has less vram than the 6800 it also consumes less power for the same performance and its a newer (prolly could also get fsr 4 compatibility later on too)

For cyberpunk I use path tracing with fsr4 performance + xess 2.1 frame gen (from their sdk) and it looks really great to me.
