From what I'm seeing/reading, if you're on a 3080 series, then definitely going to the 5080 is a great step, but not if you're on a 4080 series. The 14% increase is just not worth it. At least, the 4000 series is getting the new DLSS Frame Generation that the 5000 series is getting, but not the multi-frame generation on the 5000. But it seems performance increase at 14% is negligible coming from a 4000 to 5000 from what the benchmarks are saying for the 5080. For me, $500 is too much coming from a GTX-1660. I just don't spend that much on GPUs. Never have and never will. I've usually stuck to the under $300 price range. I'm willing to spend up to $325 this go round to get either a 4060 or RX 7600 XT. Just depends on when I have enough saved up if those are still around.

Sure, and yeah I follow this stuff quite closely and I know what we're getting this go around. I was just a little confused by what flagship 5090 pricing and budget gamers had to do with eachother. Budget gamers aren't after top end 4K high refresh rate experiences. What a 5090 costs should be of no concern to them. Call it greed or whatever you want, I guess, but the flagship product has never been for the average person so that shouldn't be a surprise. The average person was never buying GTX 295's, 2080Ti's or 3090Ti's either.

I currently have rtx 4060 + i5-13600kf with a 750w psu…what gpu would be safe to upgrade to within that power limit (that also is somewhat budget minded)? I’m at a loss no idea what to look into

If you find a 7800XT at 450-480 that card would be best. Its faster than 4070 and from Hub videos in Average same RT performance. Also 16GB Vram so no need to lower settings

yes,if you take out the 2 worst cases it will be less than that, but it will still be slower
