The sole purpose of a-life 2.0 was getting sales. It was a marketing trick. If you do some research they already had a very advanced a-life before the release of SoC but the npcs would always pick up missions and finish the game before the player so they had to reduce the realism a lot. All we need is proper a-life. I wouldn't say it's really there yet. If 2.0 is a thing then we'd need procedurally generated side missions and keeping the main story for the player only

I doubt they'll ever prioritize A-Life 2.0, given that they're working hard on content expansions (two DLCs and possibly multiplayer).
