I think they have accepted this this is pretty much the beta version of the game and, as you said, they probably will expect people to do a fresh playthrough when they finally reach 2.0 and get the engine and A-life in order, so they are adding quests now with the expection people will see them on the second pass through. Just seems dumb to make a song and dance about a "new mission" then locking most of the player base out of it.

Yeah absolutely. Unfortunately my love for the series won over my head in this instance. I KNEW this was gonna be Cyberpunk 2077 all over again but worse, yet I played through it anyway. Click the notification on the main menu. It will tell you what mission will lock you out of the quest. Read the mission name, check if you've done it. If you havent then you're good. If you have done it then you're out of luck.
