If you choose to do something with your weapon, you stop sprinting.

So firstly you can only find artifacts in somewhat static places that are for the most part clustered areas of anomalies, you're not going to find an artifact out of a random whirligig on the road. These "hotspots" will regenerate artifacts based on some combination of time passed since last getting one from there and the lore-accurate point of emissions producing (resetting) them. Technically you can "farm" artifacts by creating a save a bit over 150m from its spawn location & reloading that each time it's not the artifact you're seeking, as the particular one is generated at that point, but you'll only ever get a single artifact from an anomaly.

So in theory yes you can find infinite artifacts, certainly going to have emissions roll in & have large chunks of in-game time pass by on your journey to visit all of these spots, even if you were using fast travel as much as possible so you should never really hit a point where you can't find them whatsoever

Game is very cool, I have a lot of fun roaming around and exploring. What I am not having fun with is the story quests. I am on the final stroke of the game and I just ... dont care. Dont care for the npc characters, I dont know who people are talking about when I cant see the mentioneds face, I barely ever know why I am disabling or starting whatever transmitter or such it is just a point on a radar that I need to remove. And I kinda feel bad about feeling this way about Stalker. I just want to roam, explore and see what happens, playing an actual Stalker instead of Stalker messiah.

Exactly, so many of us are playing for the world & dynamic gameplay and you just don't have that in simple arena PvP. Every time it's brought up I like to reference Survarium that spiritual successor in the wake of original Stalker 2 & GSC dissolving. Yes it first & foremost had the detriment of not actually being stalker but really what killed it imo is the PVP-only modes being so far removed from why anybody was there in the first place and that was a love for the world of Stalker, not just its thematic elements applied to a different type of gameplay altogether.

Like, I am the exact kind of person Starfield could appeal to.

Sure, the game is very thin on content, but it gives you a big lego system for your home ship, a big lego system for your guns, multiple planets to serve as playground for those things, and if you're the kind of person that plays a game while watching a show or listening to music/asmr/podcasts, it's a match made in heaven.

Basically it's a very serviceable ADHD game.

....Except during the time I was playing, every single new patch broke mods in absurd ways. Or broke the ship building system. Or the already terribad gun balance. Etc etc.

Like, at one point I had a very comfortable experience building my home ship.

....Then they released a patch that changed the behavior of the internal state of components of a ship. If you moved and saved a single piece of the ship, EVERY SINGLE DECORATION would go back to default configuration, including respawning trash and furniture you had deleted.

....You then had to enter freecam and console mode to manually delete everything.

...Repeat for every change you make to your ship. On a game about constantly upgrading your ship.

After a few patches, the modders that maintained the ship stuff I used simply gave up on the game.

Meaning the mods I relied on for my playthrough weren't available anymore.

....Repeat this for all other systems of the game.

Starfield is a Bethesda game that doesn't know how to be a Bethesda game.

Like, I sincerely tried to like that game, but after 3 patches in a row completely broke both my mod setup and the entire flow of my playthrough, I realized the game would keep being hostile like this forever.

When the first big content DLC was released and it was just more of the same, but breaking mod compatibility even more, turns out I was right.

Like, if you gave me a version of Starfield that had all the working mods it had 2~3 months in, but didn't respawn all of the default trash and shelves every time you changed a module on your ship, and also had a slightly less nonsensical gun and ammo system, I'd be okay with it again.

....Well, except it belongs to Microsoft, so I'd still be boycotting it on principle. But I'd still be willing to "play it if I have it".

As it is right now though? Somebody could literally gift me Starfield for free (I used to play on Gamepass, so I don't own a permanent copy), I would still not play it, because I don't trust it to be a good game as it is, and I don't trust its mods to keep working until its next patch.

....It's the complete opposite of Stalker 2, where the devs try to fix things all the time while actively trying to make a stable mod support (and what breaks most often is usually small stuff like... localization files)

BTW, Combatant, although a low level weapon, is still perfectly fine on the Duga assault if using AP ammo.
And still relatively cheap to maintain, which is good on master mode.

Honestly, considering guys shoot right through all the cover, it almost was more using medkits than shooting, at least I am lucky to be overprepared in terms of max physical resistance.
Really overdid it with Compass on the top of already geared exo, just for still having max physical resistance once it looses durability.

A lot of baseline work positions are being replaced by generative AI "alternatives" using LLMs, as a way to "cheapen" the processes (customer support, programming, visual asset generation, multiple stuff).

....Except this is killing the chain that used to input more trainees and give them enough experience to become seniors. There are fields where they're literally running out of people in the "middle", and the center isn't holding.

Quality of a lot of these services is also falling drastically; programming is going through a quality assurance hell at the moment, for example. Art? Art directors are having a hard time because people "above them" in the hierarchy want to see generative examples, but when you actually need to implement them, the processes don't match; you can't "magic" things out of a prompt.

Systemically, LLMs are being used as a crutch without the structure to hold the center.

....And then there's the issue of computing power and servers, and the overselling of AI to enrich a relatively small group of companies "ouroboros-ing" the money between themselves. OpenAI, Nvidia, Oracle, etc etc. Lots of investment, lots of hype, lots of money, all in the hopes of big profits and big changes.... all the while their most hyped product with the highest revenue (ChatGPT) is still operating at a loss.

Hey all, was wondering if anyone else was having an issue with using controllers on steam version of Stalker 2 after the latest update? There is this weird input switching that happens when pressing any of the face buttons (I use a dualsense controller), causing microstutters because the game keeps switching between input types. It's the same type of stutter that happens when switching betwem KMB and controller. This issue is only with using controllers because when I use KMB, the game plays buttery smooth. Controller gameplay was fine before the update 🙁

Hunting for electro artifacts is just the worst experience...
There aren't that many electric fields to get artifacts, but electric fields themselves are by far the most punishing.
You can't even get a decent electricity resistance, so most likely any mistake will be fatal, unless you're on low diff.
Or, like, already collected a lot of Glares...

I played 130+ hours of Stalker 2 around release, then stopped. Getting back into things now and I'm very happy with the feel of the zone. So much more activity, and feels so much more lethal. You can actually avoid or observe encounters, not just have aggro stuff spawn all around you

I wish that with the addition of Master mode, we could have gotten some option to disable the personal stashes being a shared hive. Definitely changes the way you play knowing you can access everything from whatever hub you go to next, though I guess there's something to be said about likely just spending more fast traveling between to move stuff. Really though, the kind of gameplay I'm trying to encourage for myself in this sense is utilizing the already in-world stashes as exactly that, getting overloaded on a journey and leaving stuff behind to come back for on another expedition. Funny how commonplace it was for me in the older games with the smaller maps and yet here, that's almost something I have to remember to do consciously because I rarely feel punished by overencumbrance even on vanilla weight settings (or more likely rarely getting there in first place, though the added items to lootpool from Lootable Zone definitely help with that my fellow hoarders)

True, I can't say I haven't had similar experiences at time on the old games when selling en-masse, just loading up my inventory from one hub to the next and using a guide to get there instantly. Completely agree with you that the game is too generous in its lootpool, I was also disappointed that the stash upgrade was really just adding weapon parts to random stashes instead of their static-only spawns rather than some more-involved rework. For that reason I think Lootable Zone is a great addition because exploration still leads to finding more items, but they are more unique now & aren't necessarily all ones that are just going to help you out directly like more health/food/ammo as vanilla merely has. Though, on the contrary I fully understand not every player wanting to fill their inventory with seemingly meaningless items just for the sake of diversity so better that stays in mods. Pure randomization of stashes and general rebalance would be much appreciated

Agreed, or at least wish there was a path that had him more directly involved/sticking around longer. I find it funny the sort of assumptions I made before the game launched about what the story might be like or those who you may be able to side with, and like many of us probably thought it could simply come down to Faust vs. Strider, whereas both are really just plot devices for the greater sequence at large
