According to the modder Shay, after NPCs or mutants spawn in the game, they automatically head toward the player. It seems they don't live their own lives, but rather act out scenes for the player. Because of this, the zone will never feel alive. I really hope this is changed in future updates. I'd like mutants to not spawn randomly in the game world, but to have their own habitat, leaving it only to hunt for prey. What would mutants like a burer or controller do in an open area like a junkyard? Absolutely nothing. It would make much more sense for them to be drawn to various factories and caves.
It's also unclear what Stalkers do. I'd really like to see NPCs doing more meaningful things, like hunting artifacts or searching for loot in buildings, rather than fighting over pointless campfires in open fields. NPCs should do real stalker work, not just run around shooting.
Bandits should rob newcomers who are carrying loot to the merchant. Oh, if only stalkers could collect loot and then sell it to merchants. Now that would be truly a-life. 2.0

I dont remember which game did it, but i saw it happen on occasion that a game got patched, and the next patch patched the previous instance. But no one checked so they rolled it out. Reintroducing old bugs, while creating instability. So you would have a 1.1. then 1.2. and then back to 1.1.2.

I do see some jank like things spawning but its rare, and the overall atmosphere doesnt let it break immersion. It feels like the alife thing is working tho not to the expectation of gamma people whatever that means. Ive seen firefights, npcs looting, some cool random shit.
