Not that big of a deal if you already have better guns. God, I really hope GSC rebalances the weapons at some point so that their damage is based more around their caliber rather than their tier. I think CoP kinda did this; you could legitimately run through the whole game with nothing but an AKS-74U and a TOZ-34 and they would never lose their viability. Oh sure, other weapons were objectively better, but you were never strictly required to use those.

But when you get to certain points in the game the enemy's also just get harder. But you also get higher/better calibre guns to combat that, aswell as better attachments. Don't all the shotguns bassicaly do the same realistic amount of damage when un modified?

Sure, but S2 seems to follow the more structured and arcadey progression of SoC as opposed to the more open style of CS and especially CoP. Like I said, in those games (and especially CoP with how much further refined its upgrade system was), even bottom-tier weapons retained their viability all the way to the end-game. You could legitimately go through the whole thing with nothing but a double-barrel shotgun and the AKS-74U and be fine.

In S2, you simply can't do that. It doesn't matter if you upgrade the weapon, they just magically become useless. As far as I know the penetration stat is still there, it's just been merged in the damage stat of the weapons. It shouldn't really matter what gun the round is coming out of (for the most part), 5.45 and 5.56 should deal roughly the same amount of damage and penetration across the board.

But I think that we will get scenario similar to Cyberpunk 2077. 1.x versions will be something like fall start but with solid ideas and gameplay.
