Too many UE5 titles are full of default values for many things that shouldn't be that way, devs just didn't adjust them and shipped engine as-is in many respects.
Bloodlines 2 is like that too, install a mod that tweaks the "no shit, are you serious?" values and it stutters like 90% less.

Fr I hate how many game companies, not just GSC, forgot how optimization works. Been playing GTA 4 and its immensely more stable than Stalker. I can play it for over an hour before it stutters or dies cause of CPU leaks

Proprietary engines tend to be better, Rockstar has their own solid engine (has its hiccups but its good).
Problem with UE5 is that its a shipped template engine, there are so many flags/configs preset. Seems a lot of devs don't go through the gamut of tweaking unnecessary things. Its such a hog too if you leave UE5 to run on default shipped settings.

Alife is the system that manages the artificial life of every npc of the game, alife tries to simulate what it would be the ecosystem of the stalkers if they were alive and they had their own purposes and survival tools. Buy , explore, hide, steal, team up with others, invade locations, relax, drink , sleep, etc ,etc.
From a technical stand point , alife is an AI director which manages every npc and the terroritories they control , accounting for their factions, health, reputation, moral.
Every npc can live in online mode (render distance 150m more or less). Offline mode(invisible but still active) Offline mode has a reflesh rate much slower than online mode for performance reasons but the actions and the time-lapse is accounted to appear as if every npc in offline mode truly spent time outside the player view. In this frame, we could say every npc EXISTS at all times should do actions even if the player is not aware. And this system is completely lacking in stalker 2.

But since it’s not actually complete, I’m on the fence on whether or not additional playthroughs are needed once I finish this up.
But you’re half right. Hopefully, it urges anyone (on Gamepass) to outright purchase the game, instead. Direct cash flow to GSC can’t hurt.
