Apathy is the major problem, since, as a saying here goes, "I baked my own bread, who gives a phuck beyond that?". All people do is care about themselves; they can't think beyond the individual 'me, myself and I'. Most they'll care for is their families...but not a bit more.

The other problem is fear; "what'll happen if we stand up to powerful people? They'll hurt us, they'll hurt our loved ones, they'll kill us" without realizing that we'll all be dead in various times either ways, so instead of fighting for a better life, they just give up.
