Once people in the Lesser Zone, gain access to either go to Garbage

the Player is a lot better off delaying those and going to the Cordon instead.

this gate opens and going through it leads you directly down the hill to the Rookie Village.

they are unaware that access to the Cordon is now granted, at two locations.
The Eastern Checkpoint also has a gate that opens to the northern Cordon.

The stuff on the screen is not fixed. Your hotkeys, ammo and health frequently go hidden. Even the HUD up top does. They appear as needed.

That area should absolutely link back to Lesser Zone even if it's only from that side, there's even a false door at the dam that looks like it could be fleshed out to allow for that, but right now it's just a brick wall on the other side

It's definitely unfinished. I could not get on top of the Dam to loot the IPSF soldiers I killed.
I even went to the far side of it looking for a way to get on top of it. What would be funny if
GSC later used it for one of those new ARG Secret Rooms that recently have popped up.

I feel ya, I remember pushing a box for so long to try to jump up to a crooked tree and then up over the fence but could never get it & figured I may probably just be stuck over there even if I could. I'd love to see it get some purpose even if just that! & in general of course I'm enthralled with the map, but there are a few places I was disappointed that I couldn't get into like the larger structures around Wild Territory or honestly so many little sheds & whatnot here and there that have doors that just don't work. Not sure how possible it'll be, but would be amazing to see a mod down the road that adds more interior spaces like those popular Fallout mods, though I get it's a whole different ballpark with S2 being one unified map & not these different cells to load into. Couldn't imagine how taxing Prip'yat would be like that though, absolutely destroy your frames for a dozen identical apartment buildings

Did you get inside the Wild Territory building that has a Spark Trader inside?
I understand that you have to side with Spark for that to happen, which in turn,
locks you out of some other Faction locations, from what I've read (not done myself)

Yes I have seen that, cool place but really underutilized beyond just a few meetups & cutscenes; of course have similarly been wholly locked out of the Chemical Plant main Ward base, snuck into there at one point in time but these days I always seem to be instakilled by their sniper (and who sides with Ward over free stalkers before leaving Lesser Zone, now that's sacrilege! )

I didn't side with Ward and they allowed me to enter the Chemical Plant at the north gate.
I walked around inside the compound and then walked around the helicopter and even went
up to one building and was looking through the windows at some Scientists in a lab setting.
However as soon as I went to another building that had a large open hangar door, with a lot
of people inside, as soon as I stepped inside, they all went hostile, and everyone was trying
to kill me. I reloaded a save and they no longer let me come inside to snoop around. I also
found another way to go over the wall on the west side, just to climb up some structures
to get to an activated stash. As soon as I got to it, they saw me and started shooting at
me, but that time I escaped the same way, and that was my game that I continued to play.

I saw a video of a way on the north side, where the wall around the complex has a hillside.
If you run on the top part of the hill, you can leap at the downslope of the wall and get inside
the perimeter, where you can see some boxes stacked to leave the same way from the other side.
This might have been a way for non-Ward players to access the Medic, your stash and maybe the
Journalists stash inside and then escape. However, when I tried to make the jump, there seemed
to be some invisible barrier preventing me from making the leap. As if GSC found out people
talking about it when the game first got released and put a stop to this exploit to get inside.
That really disappointed me. The old GSC never stopped exploits. The new GSC hates them.

I remember having a similar experience as well, at one point in time just strolling on through with neutrality to the Wardens but then walking around the back of the complex by the helicopter every time suddenly there'd be a dozen guys aggro on me, and as I'm running away, the others that were neutral are now going hostile too; that place has always been funky if you aren't 100% Korshunov bootlicker by the time you try to visit.
Hmm and I think I might know what you speak of, always thought it was curious that they've got the hill there almost encouraging you to abuse that slope, the same way that if they really wanted to keep people out of Prypiat for good then they would put some instakill rad boundary on the train the way it is in some other places, instead of just regularly patching out popularly shared methods for getting over it.
I still think that it was a missed opportunity to not somewhat encourage players to check out the city early, but with Corps hostile on sight if one gets caught before the story allows you to be there with their permission (which happens waaaay too late as far as "main missions left" is concerned imo)

Yes, I stand corrected. It's at the Army Warehouses I have not gone to yet.
I did however get the Journalist stash in the Burnt Forest, and its armor is
the one I am wearing now. I just got confused since I can't get inside the
Chemical Plant and all the icons for it are question marks. I did appreciate
that there is a Loner Trader and Guide in the building outside the walls though.

I actually had no idea that loner trader was there for a while till one moment I went to fast travel, and was shocked to see that there even was one for Chemical Plant because I was hostile to Ward by that point. I have found that spot can be kinda dangerous, in the sense that if you don't immediately turn around and go the other way to the east, you can very easily walk yourself into that aggro the whole base + Ward sniper's instakill range

I didn't know the Ward base had an instakill Sniper.
If I try and bum rush the gate guards, they will kill me.
I just don't want to make the Ward hostile in my game.
The only Ward I have killed was a squad at that village
in lower Garbage with the Bayun talking in men's voices.
The Ward got spooked by that and attacked me, so I
had no choice. Oh yeah, the Ward I killed at the base
holding the Spark prisoner. What is strange is when
I returned to that location, the Ward there are friendly.

It was more important to me to get Faction bases I could access to turn green.

Reminds me of the one by the south gate military checkpoint past the Cordon actually as you approach the wall, you can see soldiers on it & these are the same instakill snipers as same with the Ward base & towards the Duga; you can actually kill them but still will seem to get sniped out of nowhere by another when you get too close. I feel like even still the game isn't as consistent as it could be with faction relationships, especially with these odd moments of certain individuals being friendly or not from the same group.
It also destroys my immersion at times that neutral factions will not necessarily get themselves into cover when they are caught are in the middle of a firefight that they aren't on either side of, like me actually being able to walk up behind a neutral NPC as moving cover as I'm fighting somebody that's hostile to me but not them is just crazy 😭

I was searching every corner of Lesser Zone, Cordon, Zaton, and Garbage but started to get this notion of not wanting to see the map in its entirety before the story would at least urge me that way, as to still have some wholly new sense of discovery/unfamiliarity with some physical places in the Zone (not that their beauty is transient & I'll spend days hanging in one region).
Anyway I did this very heavily in the south and east, but for the most part waited till the story urged me over to the north and west; though I did regret that lol & of course found myself missing some of those quests that are only available either before/after SIRCAA my first time, so inadvertently in successive playthroughs have found things that have surprised me to just be finding even after all this time so that's been cool, the Zone's wonders are truly endless

I think the Tunnel Camp in the Cordon, has locked doors for a DLC maybe.
I think eventually there will be a shortcut created through there to Zaton.
I've just seen maps of a small territory there that has not been implemented yet.
