1- if you decide on keeping past knowledge and trilogy mindset then it won't feel as satisfying as you wished it to be.
2- if you play it with a separate mindset you would likely like it.
3- you were unfortunate enough to struggle due to hardware/software issues affecting the game negatively (bad driver, etc..)
4- some people are simply used to ass games, so 🤷 .

or you can purchase the edition in question outright

the three options should be available for you to purchase, but if you purchase a lower tier and want to upgrade later, there's upgrade options

For real the worst, going for the achievement was a grueling experience. I understand the system needs to have that level of randomness bc so many different artifacts off of only 4 different anomaly types, but my God is it frustrating to be pure RNG

I almost wish we could return to the old system of using a better detector to find better artifacts because at least then you could have some say in that RNG. Echo can only find common, Hilka can only find up to uncommon, Bear can find up to Rare, and Veles can find up to Legendary though not sure if they would necessarily be affecting spawns per se.

You need to approach with a detector equipped and it will denote with a light and sound increasing w/ intensity as you approach. there are anomalies strewn about, but generally you are only going to find an artifact in places with them clustered or points of interest

It's still that way in S2. Problem is half the artifact types are removed (health regeneration, psionic protection and so on)...and there's so many duplicate artifacts, like...there's at least 3 artifacts that do weak Physical Protection + Endurance + Radiation. Like...what?

But true, that's the even greater problem is the fact that we have so many different artifacts that have duplicate effects of each other & the general simplicity dilutes the whole system+ makes finding different ones futile & even more frustrating if they have the same effects, what happened to having them be unique?

No, I mean the whole 'artifacts by detector type' still exists; you can't get higher-end artifacts with the Echo and such.

I haven't used the Hilka or the Bear, so kind of a noob; I generally just spawn the Veles and use it, just like in Clear Sky.

The rest, I agree with. GSC basically ruined artifacts...and removing the health-regeneration artifacts and psionic-protection ones was even worse.

Yeah, it's terrible that there's no way to improve psi-protection in the game beyond the rare psi-block or having a suit that already has high value vs. all of these other damages you can compensate for via artifacts. Instead we get... extra durability

Yeah that's become a must-have for me, impossible to want to go back to vanilla tanking body shot slop. I wonder what the Master difficulty balance is going to officially be like; they should consider something more in this vein as originals leaned into or like Ranger Hardcore in Metro, glass cannon realism so much better in this game than what vanilla becomes with exos and damage protection for you + enemies

Same, I couldn't play vanilla ballistics again, though I do like the protection Exo-Skeletons provide, even with BB. Bulat and ES basically make you invicible, but it feels normal (and you still die easily if not careful) compared to vanilla.

It's actually not hardcore, TBH...it just fixes the ballistics. You're still quite invincible on 'Rookie' (not as much as vanilla, of course, but still), while Veteran can be a two-shot kill with a Leather Jacket.

Even then, the Guardian of Freedom, Falcon and Bulat basically make you survive anything. And the ES are God Mode (except against mass groups). But with BB, game is far closer to the original trilogy (and IRL).

Yea, but problem is because the story enemy encounters are made with vanilla in mind. So fighting 20 Monolith soldiers feels like CoD.

With BB, you get real ballistics but still face 20 people and it becomes infuriating. The Monolith complex in Pripyat is basically a nightmare with BB simply due to the sheer number of Monolith in there.

Also, AI is 100% accurate even at 100 metres...you aren't.
