The big ones come from design choices, like changing engine halfway through development. The war, the fire, all had an impact yes, but they weren't the main reasons why this game is in a mess.

Despite have some of the best sound and atmosphere in any game... I genuinely love walking around and exploring the zone, I just hate all the mechanics around this.

Like everything, it is a bit of this and a bit of that, and always more complicated than it seems. Always good to do a bit research on reputable sites, the problem with gaming sites, is that most of them are all owned by one, maybe two companies/investors, and they also own/invest in game development studios... It's why there are a lot shills about, and no one reads the likes of Kotaku, is because they don't write on honest reviews, they get bribed to write positive reviews, and rate game based on social agenda scores, rather than teh actual quality of the game.

I played UFO Unknown Enemy when it first came out, in the 90's, late 80's? The very first game in the franchise... and an 80% chance to hit, felt like a 80% chance to hit... You could build tactics up that worked, because you weighed up your chance and could plan with them.

In BG3, you could miss 5 times in a row, get a crit, miss 5, get a crit... It was insane, the % meant nothing, You couldn't plan properly, coz a lot of the time it would just Feck you over and there was nothign you could do about it... Because save scumming and reloading was part of the game...

Yeah it’s only single player (for now) but you can have multiple saves
