the 2011 stalker 2 had like 3 different plot outlines which leaked after the game's cancellation. in one, a shadowy group called Omega led by Sakharov were fighting SIRCAA for something called the "bioartifact" - a super powerful artifact potentially created by the UN or something (or at least there was a UN lab involved at some point) and the artifact could basically be used to stabilize the Zone or spread it across the planet

I disagree I think most of them were quite good in the originals. They had interesting behaviors and dynamics (well, most of them)

Boars and Fleshes had such a cool pack dynamic with the boars leading the fleshes and if you killed the boar theyd scatter

the blind dogs being kinda wary but very hungry and able to sometimes turn violent whereas the pseudodogs (wolves) were killing machines early game? that was cool

some of the humanoids werent great. controllers needed some work done (i like what mods have done with the originals like controller overhaul, which let them actually zombify stalkers in the world) and poltergeists were weird, but some like the chimera were genuinely great fights
