Same, but I feel like the ward would be the canon ending. Skif came to the zone pissed off about his house, and the ward is able to send him home and have a new one. One dissapointment with s2 story is they never made skif really say his true goals, keep all the endings but skif having a goal ending would be cool. Like he wants to get home badly, but maybe he learns to love the zone for what it is and decides he doesn’t want a house, he wants the zone now

In gameplay, at least...the Military in the old games generally was basically sitting on the side unless they were ordered to do something, while the IPSF is out on active patrol and effectively hunts everyone, especially Bandits.

They're corrupt, but at least far more competent as a force compared to the older Military.

No one in the entire Zone expected the ambush, which is why even the Ward is taken by surprise. And they're not to be trifled with.

Nah, they'll actively hunt Bandits as long as both are in any proximity. The vanilla game might not show that much because, well...A-Life is missing, but with Shay's Living Zone, NPCs spawn far more frequently and you can see them fight in groups.

The lore is that they're guarding access to the STALKER Program control centre...they don't want some idiot to gain access and screw things up, especially with how the Monolith resurged.

Degtyarev and the Corps are already fighting a VERY intense battle...they don't need more problems.

And with how easily protagonists from the trilogy get access to everywhere, it makes sense to lock down Jupiter and Pripyat completely.

Besides, I'm pretty sure the IPSF, Ward/SIRCAA and the Corps are all on the same side, so it makes sense to gatekeep access to the secrets of the Zone.

Skif only gets through due to having actual skills and being the determinator.

Actually, I think someone explained in #s2-lore-discussions...that the Ward made all the factions sign the treaty, and each faction is part of a gate-keeping mission.

So the free stalkers, the weakest of the bunch, get to gate-keep the start of the Zone, at Zalissiya. Freedom is the most powerful and flexible, so they get Rostok, which becomes a trading hub and a central point to keep an eye on everyone from.

Duty guards the Cement Factory which is home to reactors 5 and 6 and a direct route to Chernobyl and their prejudice against the Zone means they're effective at gate-keeping it.

And finally, the Corps...

They tried to with mercs, it sort of worked, but if they tried to do that with everyone else, it would be a disaster

Exactly...unlike the older games, there's FAR less blood-shed till Skif arrives. Everyone's (relatively) peaceful...like, there's plenty of friction and the IPSF and Ward still kill people, but it's not the chaos of Clear Sky and SoC.

And even after Skif comes, the blood doesn't start shedding till Faust shows up and then Dalin screws up royally.

TBF, the mercenaries are basically a wild card...and they'll shoot on sight, so they're a threat to basically everyone due to their loyalties being only towards their clients.

I feel like that’s not exactly the truth, mercs are like the next step from loners and bandits, they keep to themselves and only care about what’s gonna make them money. Which in the end is very similar to loners and bandits, just different communities

Yes, but unlike loners (who you never know if they'll help or hurt) or Bandits (who you know will basically enslave you for life)...Mercenaries will not care for anything. And since they're on their own mission, they will shoot on sight.

Of course, in-game, you can see them peaceful with other groups, but lore-wise, they're not going to take random stalkers lightly.

Yeah, like the time where I ran into a duty outpost to hide from an emission, and there was a single merc among the duty guys, literally close enough to each other to kiss, but the merc sees me and jumps up and starts shooting, while duty just stares

Actually they did to something, they jumped up and started searching the building, after I killed the merc

I find that very annoying how factions don’t interact with each other when it comes to one being in contact and the other not, like I’m green with duty, they should help me, and even if I’m not green with them, they shouldn’t just stand right next to the merc that’s shooting me, they should at least run for cover or something if they’re not gonna help me

TBF, there's 2 types of rats, so it depends.

The swarms...well, people might not know what to do with them, since the swarms behave differently to normal mutants.

The kangaroo rats are different and can just be shot normally.

The remaster is absolutely goated. Never did I think my childhood second favorite game would be remastered, and drop out of nowhere. My inner child came out and I played the remaster like I was playing for the first time again. That is what you are doing wrong. You should never be running left and right out in the open. You need to get your back in a corner. Like a wall, a fence, a bus stop, a corner in a cave, a building or other structures.

Make it where Bloodsuckers can't hit you from behind. Make them only have one angle of attack. Hunker down to be a smaller hit box. Shoot them in the center of their torso. Use a shotgun or viper on full auto.

Don't get so focused on trying to shoot when you need to give yourself a medkit. If you have no choice and must run, go to any object you can get on top of. We are all killing them here without having to mod the game, like you keep saying you want to do.

it's put in a place where it feels like you have to kill it. The dude is fully invisible (the outline never showed for me), with super speed, frankly quite bad audio queues (i could never hear him unless he was already jumping out of invis), constantly zig zagging and running around, and i take almost all my hp from him in one hit, not to mention when he knocks you down. I don't mind if you like them, but it doesn't mean everyone has to. It's quite objectively a bad design choice to put them in such an area with a messy place behind him, especially when you meet one in the tutorial where it's also implied they want you to kill it.
You probably have a lot of hours in the game and you know exactly how to deal with them, but it doesn't mean they're well made. The game should introduce them like how Elden ring introduces its first boss, something really hard to take out on your first try, to teach you that you should run from danger or you'll fail, but it doesn't do that

if no one cares about preserving movies anymore we'll stop having movies that talk about the horrible shit that went on in history, if no one cares about preserving books we'll forget all about the world wars, if no one cares about preserving video games then we'll lose incredibly introspective works of fiction that change people altogether and give you a whole new way of seeing life. I think games are on the same exact level as movies and books in terms of being art, so we should care enough to not let them disappear

within your lifetime the retirement age will be non-existent, you will work more for less, and the economy will become weaker and weaker. Not to get political, this is purely a result of current demographic trends, politics would be offering a solution, that's up to you. I just think you should care.
