Try that Stealth mod from Nexus though. That's the only thing that stopped NPCs from having X-Ray vision for me. Before this mod, it would be dark of night and as soon as I stepped outside they were shooting at me without even turning their heads yet... THANK YOU GSC for UE5 in 2025... ridiculous.

But AI (or lack thereof) and horrible weapon ballistics/stats are what's keeping it from being great so far. I finally am getting good framerates and everything.

however, it would only produce a worse picture, because it has to cram more pixels on a screen with less pixels. this results in cloudy graphics and more jaggies

I like stalker 2 but I think ill just keep it in my steam library for like 10 years until new gen hardware will be able to run this game smoothly and then ill comeback to it... At this point I dont see many other solutions unless the devs do something, paying more than 2000$ for a pc just for the game to be almost unplayable is something to be ashamed of in 2025. Ill be honest I have a 5080 and I tried overclocking it and reaches the same score as a 4090 in 3dmark and that already sucks to play that game, I doubt even a 5090 + 9950x3d can save this game, devs just need to rebuild half of the game from scratch if they wanna fix it.

I'll be real, I'm playing it cause I'm a fan of the series and I'm a sucker for the world of the game thus I can handle performance issues. The exploration aspect is pretty well done (although it isn't that rewarding in terms of loot). It also looks like they aren't dropping the ball yet and they keep making the AI better... So it's interesting to see how far will they come. I literally can't recommend this game to anybody in this state tho thus I've also left a negative review on steam

Graphics technology really seems like it's plateaued at this point with UE5, and not every game is going to go for photorealism. I was big into combat flight sims for a while, and they're also good for racing sims even though those seem incredibly boring.

I'm trying to move into IT myself. I should have done it from the very beginning, but unfortunately, I read a Reddit thread full of burnt-out and miserable sysadmins and got scared away from the field at the time. (Also let's be honest, 18-year-old me was lacking in maturity.)

"Go into the trades!!!!" Yeah I tried that, it sucked ass and I've effectively lost all of my 20s to that shit. Thankfully I'm only about a year away from 30, so it's not "too late", but still, I do harbor some bitterness about it.

As someone moving into the trades I will say this:

Don't do it unless you have to. The pay and w/l balance is worse, and harder on your body.

But it can't be outsourced. I'm mainly doing it because I don't have a degree and was a self-taught dev, so my value in this market is non-existent, especially with 100,000 new CS grads a year + h1bs.

If you get a CS degree get a security clearance as well, you're pretty set if you don't mind working in a fairly unethical industry.

Honestly it just simply wasn't a good fit for me. Like, let me put it this way: When I thought of having to do any overtime or work a weekend as a welder or truck driver, I felt dread. However, the idea of doing the same thing as a sysadmin or similar makes me excited.

Also I'm not going for a CS degree, what I want to do doesn't require any kind of degree thankfully. In the event that I do need to learn programming (which will probably happen eventually), I'll just learn it on my own.
