I get ultra fps drop when that happens.
But with the Blowout - no. It's a complete freeze, 100%, there is a sound, but the image is frozen, and the world around is frozen too.

I’m on the same preset and I’m using about 13GB my friend, sometimes 14GB in certain areas.

Laptops also ship with 1440p displays or more.

So that’s even more video memory usage right there, frame hen also uses about a gig by itself sometimes.

Anyway, I’d turn down the settings and see if the problem goes away. When you run out of video memory like that, the system starts using your system memory as VRAM which is…very slow for that purpose. Beyond that it freezes.

this is the GPU you have in that laptop, its about as fast as a 3060 and slower then a 4060 in gaming performance, the standard 4070 has 12GB of VRAM, this one has only 8GB which just adds to the problem. You are also using frame generation technology which as I mentioned a second ago uses additional system memory to do what it does further adding to the problem.

This error didn't happen before, it was just one day that it started doing this in 5 seconds of screen time, but it's only the Steam version that this happens in, the Xbox GamePass PC version doesn't.

Everything beyond 120m (I think) is 'offline' meaning streamlined by the game, not physically there

It is. It's very gamey, but I welcome it as a quality of life implement. STALKER was never about der reelizm and playing pack mule was never fun, especially in Clear Sky where Scar had pitiful stamina (still not as bad as Skif though). However, it wasn't so bad in Call of Pripyat, as you had three clearly defined hubs/player homes you could "fast travel" in between to trade what you needed to.
