I understand their stance both on desiring to bring back the classic PVP modes from original games as well as the fact that in some form or another co-op ruins the solo pacing and lonely feel of STALKER, of course beyond the crazy technical hurdles that certainly come with it, one would think GSC would have at least have conversation along the way about something relating to PvE, Even if it's not just your single player game with co-op enabled but having NPCs & mutants in multiplayer modes that derive from the standard arcade MP modes would be really cool. But understandably multiplayer in general needs to take the backseat until the single player is fully ironed out, whatever exactly that means in the eyes of both GSC and the community

"I took a look at the code. While the description changed in 1.1.3, the artifact itself wasn't actually changed in the file.

The description is now "A scruffy children's ball. While equipped, you recover quicker, especially in combat. It almost seems like the toy is absorbing the impact." This is a much more apt description of what it's supposed to do.

Here's what I see:

1. 10% of bullet damage taken is added to the weight of the artifact until it hits 5.0kg. I'm not sure if it reduces damage by 10%. Just looking at the artifact file itself, there is nothing written in it to actually reduce damage. If there is, it's outside the file.

2. 100% of damage taken is added to stamina. I was curious as to whether this was true as it's surprising that this would have gone unnoticed. I can confirm, yes, taking bullet damage generates large chunks of stamina back instantly. This works even if the ball hits 5.0kg.

So basically the weird ball acts as a stamina generator when getting shot at. Either people weren't noticing this since the game's launch or something outside the code of the artifact file was fixed in 1.1.3."

I've noticed these problems as well. The foliage thing has been a major problem since day one, that shit is infuriating in the extreme. Getting absolutely blasted through bushes by NPC's while we the player cant even come close to seeing them is so stupid. The cover taking issue when the NPC's are investigating your last position is minor but still annoying. I also agree about the NPC vision being way to good, day or night. They always say they fix the issue for NPC vision each patch but it seems like theyre fixing one minor issue at a time.

well. for me, the performance is bad, the graphics are unoptimized, and i cant feel like being in chernobyl, i thought that the game was gonna be so cool but, it just seems like an arcade walking simulator, i went to prypriat early game and i think that was the only place i enjoyed a bit, but after that the game is mostly a forest with TAA ghosting effect and frame generation, the game is good ik, but not really enjoyable for me

I don't think a lot of people come to stalker out of a baseline hobbyist interest in the history of Chernobyl

we're talking about a greatest game series of all time and (with nods to Skyrim and BOTW and the like) one of the best ever here in stalker 2. It brings people who simply love rpg shooters and next gen graphics, like the far cry crowd.

Expecting newbies to be lore and world history conscious beyond knowing the basics of the meltdown in the 80s and the unavailability of this area, since, seems unreasonable to me 🤷🏼‍♂️

You don't get an audible confirmation of hits IRL, so for immersion I turn that off.

You should have to wander around nervously to make sure the area is clear, rather than have music and headshot sounds signal you can relax.
