thats when i said, yea, no, give me a full refund, so i started a case with paypal and held the payment hostage until they caved in

personally, i also dont have alot of problems with epic game store. most games are just sold through epic, but use their own services for like multiplayer play. borderlands 3 for example use their own peer2peer networking to connect with other players. they knew from the start the epic store wouldnt be trustworthy. they just agreed to be sold on that first with a year long exclusivity purely for the money.

All I'm saying is that if Sweeney was a nobody and UE5 didn't exist then we'd have a possibility of stalker 2 being made on its own engine or other, better engine (I don't know, maybe CryEngine would work much better? Who knows, lol). I doubt it's all about "better graphics". The thing is - UE5 is also cheaper than any other engine, especially for realistic graphics. It has lots of assets, it has lots of shaders that are already ready to use, it has a lot of documentation, it has technologies for dynamic LODs, it has Lumen, open world stuff, etc. Stalker 2 uses LOTS of these technologies BUT if Epic Store, Fortnite, UE5 and Sweeney weren't here then they would be forced to use other engine or keep developing their own. Sure, maybe the game would be delayed for another 5 years, maybe it would cost more or maybe it would look very differently (worse in some aspects, better in others) but my point is simple: they wouldn't choose UE5 if it wouldn't exist. Now my question is: do you understand what I'm saying here? Don't you see how UE5 affects the industry simply by existing and by being cheaper and easier to use than other engines? AI slop upscaling, dynamic lods that make your screen noisy if you play with native resolution without using AI upscalers, Lumen lighting that removes the need for baking your lighting but creates lots of issues (because the artists have way less control over the scene now), just a lot of issues with real time rendering of many objects (Foliage looks terrible on UE5.1 natively, for example, don't know about other versions. Same goes for water reflections and transition from Lumen to SSR, etc. There are lots of these small things that are very poorly implemented in UE5). How can you make a point that it doesn't affect anything if it clearly DOES affect everything because the companies will always go for the cheaper option?

to be honest, frostbite engine from EA wasnt all that bad. for the games it was actually made, like star wars battlefront, the graphics and effects came out just perfect. especially on rocky maps, the rocks looked as realistic as ive ever seen in a game.

After the latest update I'm having some really bad shimmering/anti-aliasing/flickering on the grass, its almost looks like this black shadow shimmer. Every time I move the grass starts flickering real bad, like the TAA or anti-aliasing is not working at all.
