Not a randomizer per-se, but Project Itemization cobbles together a bunch of mods that add new items, mutant loot and such stuff, might fill the gap.
Makes the economy a bit less of a drag to deal with too
MHM randomizes almost all drops

I'm really enjoying the game on PC, but ran into a save corruption problem. I had played through most of the game, siding with the doctor, killed Strelok, and right after I killed Scar, my save games were corrupted / deleted. The game crashed, and then when trying to restart, I was asked whether I wanted to use Microsoft Game Pass's save or my local saves. After clicking Xbox Cloud's save, it deleted all my .sav files. The only thing I think it left untouched was the listing file for the saves I used to have
Is there anyone who would please be willing to share their Xbox / Steam / GOG save game file, please? Even if it's from the start of Prypiat, I would really appreciate it. I've logged over 120 hours on the game, just to have my saves deleted less than half an hour from the ending 😕

chronological order is clear sky, shadow of chernobyl, call of pripyat but playing them in order (soc, cs, cop) is probably your best bet since clear sky won't make as much sense without having played soc

Unreal engine can have good AI too , I think this game did not have enough testing and just got directly released in rush which is why the AI is kind of weird major problem of ue5 is that its kinda unoptimized , even marvel rivals run poorly

engines can help a bit with ai but 90% of it is what the devs write themselves. their navigation can be managed by the engine but afaik thats pretty much it

Yes, but crafting a statemachine or behavior tree that doesn't bend the CPU over and goes in dry is an artform.
I don't think they had long to cook on specific behaviors. Particularly the mutants. The hide and evade behavior doesn't have any cooldowns or timers that moderate it. So mutants run and hide the very instant that they can no longer find a pathing solution. It's quite jarring.

My criticism of stalker 2 is it is sorta anemic. Unless you absolutely love the mainquest and concept of open worlds alone. It's sorta just ports over the very simple gameloop from 17 years ago but spreads it even thinner.

never played gamma before but tbh spent like 1 min watching this video and it didnt really do anything for me.
Difficult yes but I think then just play anomaly don't think it's as hardcore, or og Stalker with the graphical mods and animations, either way every experience is better than Stalker 2, if you actually want a persistent world that's alive where NPCs are actively doing things on their own, where you have endless and many different types of quests then the OG stalker is the way to go, I will wait a year to play Stalker 2 again, at least CSG is listening, but for now I have requested a refund.
The difference is a world that isn't scripted, NPCs can loot, execute, revive eachother, prone, so much more, ALife is completely persistent with NPCs always doing stuff so nothing just spawns in, it actually just resumes, all NPCs have quests, NPCs in Stalker 2 "talk to the boss, talk to the boss, talk to the boss"
In the end Stalker 2 is far from a finished game
once you get past the hobo phase it's really good imo
Not to mention everything having wounded animations
And you'll always come across NPCs you have met along your journey be it dead or alive, they also send messages when people pass away saying condolences to eachother or when there's some action in the world they speak about it.
perhaps i can find another person that reviews it in a way that it doesnt bore me.
I sort of agree with this - though I guess at the same time it's good to know what to expect, and that things are consistent. The gunplay feels better to me though, in terms of things changing

The major thing is ALife, NPCs just aren't alive, just random spawns, that you can't see doing tasks on the map, that don't communicate with each other, or who you won't get missions from rather all side quests in the new Stalker 2 are scripted pre made missions...
seen this clip before and yes i definitely remember AL being way better, I still remember years ago saying out loud' WOW its dragging that body!' or 'what is that crunching sound?' doggies eating someones feet.

tbh skimming through the other endings i think strelok's ending is probably the "good" ending
they all still felt like a wish granter ending to me, power, greed, control etc

Imo these days after so much time passed since last game, they should've done it in a 'easy to get into' way w/o having to go back and play those ancient titles
Interesting, but too small, engagement are too close, enemies have aim bot, a-life ain't functioning, it all feels like Fallout 4 to me
its all there tbh, if you talk to enough NPCs you'll pretty much hear all the story of the trilogy, i think they decided to put in optional dialogue because most people playing already know
I did hear a lot of the og story from NPCs, doesn't change the fact I'm not a fan. For an open world game, this was a let down

I was testing whether I could make a loop in a function halt based on a global variable altered within the function
And I decided to make it print this out, increasing or decreasing the number of bugs by a random amount weighted so it was close to -1 over time

on veteran no, kharod has less damage than dnipro. to one-tap you need a sniper (svu/m701) or rhino, maybe shotgun if you're close. I don't think anything else one-taps on veteran the brown helmet monolith exos. I would say SVU is a must for point of no return on veteran. I got advised by a friend and idk what I would do without it lol
the fact that vintar / lavina with super heavy 9x39 don't one tap on veteran, while rhino does, is kinda silly IMO. In past games these guns where the highest class, and now they are kind of midgame damage-wise, and it's even worsened by the rare, heavy and expensive ammo. Using them doesn't make much sense
on the other hand, otherwise we'd have no reason to use "real" snipers, so maybe it's good
the SVD that Strider gives you (idk name in English) also one-taps btw. It's a tiny bit worse in stats than SVU but is totally usable, the difference doesn't change much

yea, those super powers doesnt fit in stalker. they could done something like synthetic prototype artifacts or fight it self could be more like chasing, counter attacking. for me faust fight made more sense
it was still plausible as some ultra upgraded exoskeleton tomfoolery imo but true. faust fight was peak indeed
tbh i don't really like how faust was the only major character to have a somewhat meaningful death scene. korshunov was a bit well done but scar's death felt laughably insignificant in comparison
also strelok fight scripted badly. strelok runs around and goes to hide in the same place. so you can just wait on the spot and clap him
i'm a little bothered about strelok not dropping some insane line after being killed LOL also yeah the scripting was a a bit wonky. bro also took more buckshot than a pseudogiant
definitely did not enjoy fighting strelok. just way too spongey and he moved around too much too quickly and being at sub 20 frames did not help either

I optimised the game to recommend settings which is epic. Lowered it down to medium but that still don't work 😂
It runs fine after it's all loaded up bar the occasional frame drops but I have to give like 20 minutes before I can even play the game
Playing via steam rather than game pass. Playing it on game pass made it look like I was playing Roblox and couldn't do anything
Jump on to something, then they go hide... Then play musical high spots, draw them out until you find the main one, then unleash nades and shotgun on them... Or an accurate assault rifle
bit low on RAM - try adjusting your nivida shader cache size - game should make them the first time around and restarts should just be checking to make sure the files exist
with the memory leaks in this game even 64GB isn't enough

All you want is more guns, but more guns is not going to add much to this game. They will probably add some in the DLC. But the game doesn't need more, so I don't care whether they do or not.
There literally is no need for more gun at this point, they can't even balance what they have got correctly at this moment in time.
If you want more guns, install mods.
And it's silly argument that just because S2 is new game, there for it "must " have more guns than the first game. No, it doesn't.
And like I said even if they put more guns in, just the ones "YOU" want? What if I don't want them and want different ones? Is my opinion less or more important than yours? 99% of the time, the people who cry for more guns, are the same one's that cry that they didn't add the right one's when they do.
The game doesn't need more guns, it needs better game play, mechanics, and a great number of many more things before "more guns"
Right now the game needs fixes of existing content more than anything else.
I'm all game for new content, but it's important to balance adding new stuff, with fixing existing things first. Especially if there are big issues to tackle

Once the bugs are fixed, there is lots of stuff they need add, like my dynamic interactions with NPC's and not just A-life, but more to actually interact with them, like more missions, card games around camp fires and bars, why does every NPC have 700K? More and better ways to interact with the environment, being able to step over logs, better climbing mechanics... So much much more...

And no, the idea of a sequel having more "stuff" than its' predecessors is not silly. A good sequel is supposed to build off of what came before; it should not feel like a downgrade and it should not feel like stuff is missing.
There are no specific guns that I want, the only gaps I really see in the current arsenal are:
* Only three 5.56 assault rifles when before we had five, and a lack of proper weapon progression compared to the original trilogy and current Warsaw Pact/Eastern weapons.
* No NATO/Western equivalent to the 9x39 weapons. (Again, not asking for a caliber equivalent, just something that fits in the same "slot" or role as those weapons)
* Only four pistols when before we had nine.
Those are the only weapons that I am requesting.
I don't care in the slightest what specific guns GSC decides to pick if they decide to follow through on something like this, and I don't think such a request is unreasonable either.

Guns in the original trilogy seemed to sort of base their effectiveness around their caliber. It wasn't to the same degree as mods, but it was similar. I think weapons were at their best though once upgrades and repairs were introduced, because then there really was almost no limit to a weapon's viability.
Like there was nothing stopping you from taking an AKS-74U all the way to the CNPP or Pripyat if you really wanted to, especially in CS and CoP.

The weapons and armor stats are just kinda slapped on there. Like scared rats on a glue trap. No rhyme or reason. It's obvious that there was never time to balance anything. Thus we have things like a nerf dart trajectory on an anti material rifle.

SMG/PDW is/should be just a cheaper, a bit lighter option instead of a assault rifle, which could be useful early game when you're face unarmored enemies and struggle with ammo.

As I said to you before, the pistols made way for more shotguns and SMG's', and I said previously they will probably release more with DLC... The game doesn't "need" more weapons, they would just come under the nice bracket.

In stalker1 you always had bad 9x18 pistols, and it's a kind of "crap ammo", any weapon that can put rounds downrange you find at first like mp5 is 9x19, then its a special treat when you find a smg that can use this cheap ammo but by then you have AKs and no ammo problems for them

SVD/SVU are really good and they actually have ammo availible and good against mutants too
It's not the damage values, it's like the weird dissonance between high caliber, and it being so low velocity.

It sorta weird how the game is much larger on paper. But the actual 'live' part of the game is much much smaller.

The games biggest performance problem on good PCs is around NPC AI, so it makes sense.
My money is that it's classic unreal engine blues. Where the animation graph makes for really cool looking movements. But the overhead per unit is high.

That's because the ballistics are fecked, and like most other things in this game, they don't make sense at all... Mainly, IMO, they are just place holders for now and will get updated later.

Unreal engine is a fine engine. The problem is epic advertises and markets to management like it's features are magic bullets that don't require senior programmers and developers to wrangle.
Luckily for us, Dimitri Iassenev, the guy who literally invented A-Life, is still with GSC.
The downside is that he's deployed in the war last I knew.

Problem with using custom engines, you need people to specifically maintain it, but with Unreal this isn't a problem
But like you said, it takes a lot of wrangling of engines too. Maybe even convincing them to patch it to enable you to do what you need.
I dont think anyone outside gsc knows why npcs slow the game down so much right now, even when they aren't really doing much. My guess is they needed to use some kind of bloated engine script to run their routines that should really be done at a lower engine level, but it's not supporting what they need to do, and this takes a lot of memory operations and can't be kept in CPU cache

Yeah, they can, but performance even with 20 npcs fighting outside never gave me a very noticable slowdown. But towns slow down a lot even though nothing is happening.
Oh, apparently Bloosuckers at least do have a "feeding on a dead body" animation, but it's not drinking the blood, it's like tearing off pieces and eating them.
I've been busy with other things and haven't been able to test it myself yet, but the couple of times I was in Rostok were where I saw the worst "town" performance drops.

It should on paper. Be an extremely low resolution version of the map, a basic a* pathfinding algo, A half dozen checks, and maybe a few random number calls.

Programming can be tricky. If say 50 npcs is too much, might make it flush cache, because it's a script that uses a lot of memory as a baseline, on every frame, then performance will hurt a lot
Well everything in "offline" A-life is non-rendered, so that helps. Hell, they might only need a 2D version of the game map since it's effectively just points moving on a grid.
i have a 5900x and 64gb ram (4 sticks) so my single core perf isn't bad but my memory speed isn't great, so that's why i think it's ram bus limitations
But in high performance programming, you always have to consider ram is "slow"
Not even a grid is needed, just a node tree where the distance between nodes are known.

I tried a mod someone made to increase min and max spawn distance, and it kinda works.... except it's outdated and/or bugged so factions that should be fighting aren't - ward and duty would completely ignore hostile monolith - but other than that it actually worked quite well to reduce obnoxious spawning near you

Also I'm pretty sure the game couldn't be saved because there was a bloodsucker over somewhere in the immediate distance but with several obstacles between us that meant it would never go after me in that spot.

How do you know? They're clearly doing something, and often. NPCs move and act the same wether they're visible or not.
because frames render what's on the screen so it has no relation to what you're viewing - but increased load on the CPU can mean slower frame generation due to impacted communication between GPU
Never really agreed with this. A-life in vanilla stalker wasn't much better in a noticable way, it was never anomaly war mode (Except in Clear sky where it kinda was)
You always need to decide some kind of timing, though. Like a separate async clock that tries to run at ~10hz for example, or you do checks per frame
those games were a lot less complex and graphically intense so the computational load wasn't as significant, it's not a fair comparison, and it dosesn't seem much better because they cut content and gimped the system to make the game run better but as a result you have enemies spawning almost ontop of you non stop
you don't decide timing, that's not how any of that works - the game runs and it either can or can't put out enough frames you're targeting based on the hardware and system load
sounds like you're thinking of old 3D games that were tied to frequency cycles of the CPU and that caused problems when CPUs got faster
In my 2 playthroughs I never had this problem, maybe they would spawn close but it was always in a direction I hadn't looked for a while so it was a plausible "Oh, those stalkers snuck up on me without me noticing"
some areas have a higher spawn fequency or something, it happens in certain locations more than others
go to a military checkpoint and you'll have military units spawning near you non stop
and if you got to a certain spot on the map you'll have certain factions spawning non stop, like bandits, stalkers, and then whatever mutants are listed for that location
I mean the npc logic, not the physics or movement speed. The npcs have to be doing different checks X times per second, for example to see if they can see an enemy. The timing of this won't make the game go faster or slower, It will just give the npc faster or slower reaction speed. But I feel pretty confident they're all checking something since in places where there's so many npcs doing nothing, it slows down so much

My game bugged at the down below mission. It tells me to get back to the control panel but when I do nothing happens. I shot Dalin, Korshunov told me to go to the panel, and even when the indicator shows zero metres still nothing progresses forward.
I reloaded a quicksave and still no good. Anyone got any tips on this? Xbox Series X if that helps

That's my experience from coding, using frameworks means wrangling them and they might not support what you need to do, then you have to work around them which can be very slow, or try to convince the devs to accept the patch to the framework with what you need, they say they don't want it...
