Everywhere, their spawn rate is way too high, especially compared to the original trilogy; these are supposed to be rare, legendary mutants, why are they spawning with the frequency of original trilogy pseudodogs?

i've had 1-2 spawn close to me where when one aggro'd and did its scream i always assumed it was just 1 but after dealing with the 1st one i get swatted by the 2nd

I play on average sometimes switching to veteran when I feel a section is too easy, a hit from a sucker will at the most take 1/4th of my health but they don't attack aggressively enough for it to be an issue

There were a couple instances in the original trilogy where you would fight a duo, but generally they were solitary hunters.

I can't definitively explain the abundance of bloodsuckers as I have not any lore reason for the popuation of mutant types, but I did see someone speculate that as the Zone has grown in age, more humans have come to it which provides the mutants more food sources and thus increases their numbers. I can't suggest anything better, but there's no clear explanation that I have seen.

yes both their screams and knock downs are annoying as hell so i tend to look for something high as fast as i can jump onto high platform and get shotgun ready with buck and i will watch carefully looking for them while they are invisible

Yeah, like what Roggatron said, when heartbeat or red flash, heal, when blood drips, bandage. Take a set number of magazines with you too, so you dont have to count bullets, you just have to count how many mags you've been through, that way you know if you're about to run dry. Its not an exact science, but it helps a lot

And you're not wrong, my favorite parts of the original trilogy were when it was quiet and all you could hear was the leaves rustling in the wind, dogs barking in the distance, the sound of rain/thunder...

At the same time though, I don't like how absolutely lifeless and empty so much of the Zone feels. There should be parts of it that are like that, but as it is now feels a bit too extreme.

No, its a rebalance mod, balances guns by their calibre instead of throwing arbitrary damage values at them. Use the oldest version if you want somewhat realistic damage, there is also an option file for 1:1 incoming/outgoing damage, so enemies are as lethal for you as you are for them, which i recommend

It is, just be aware you can get clapped real easy compared to vanilla (unless you stack a bunch of phys resist artifacts, which i advise against, because they're hella broken at the moment)

I get what you're saying. I probably would only use the weapon damage rebalance. In games where NPCs don't have the same restrictions as the player in terms of perception, target detection, and obstruction to firing, I am not too keen on making them all 1 shot me, regardless of realism hehe

It comes packaged with a mod that makes them less aimbotty, so no need to worry about being insta-lasered, but they're way more capable of killing you than in vanilla. They tend to whiff their first few shots, then dial it in after

Just use cover appropriately and you'll be fine, but running about in the open with a shotgun will absolutely get you killed

But slowmod stopped me until after you replied with that new info. I like that it tries to break the aimbot, bc that shit is real. Enemies who I have to scope in to even find can hit me with 28/30 bullets in a starter AK at like 100 meters lol

For combat loot? Cooling Towers seems to have constant firefight spawns, just stay moving and you cant help be stumble across them nonstop.
For creepy atmosphere? The Burnt Forest with all its crispy vehicle husks and skeletons scattered around in tragic scenes.
For nostalgia? The Cordon, CoP was my favorite.

pick up the saiga-12, and the extended mag in prypiat. it kills bloodsuckers in 4-5 hits, 2 for headshots and regular buck, and you can spam cus its semi auto AND MAG FED

All of it should be possible with the SDK when we get it, though in many cases it wouldnt be easy to do, secondly a lot of the things you want are already done as they're just basic value changes, such as weapon tweaks, AI improvements and the way items are found

Slug probably your best bet, some mutants have a modicum of armour, and I believe Burer and Bloodsucker are both included, along with Snork, though really you can just shoot them in the head with anything and they'll drop at somepoint

Hi. I think, I am not that far from the end of the story. Today the main quest lead me into the Red Forrest. What I noticed today and also during the last 2 days that somehow randomly there are massive fps drops (about 80%). If this happens, my FPS go from 100 to 20. Sometimes I can fix that by changing my graphics setting to minimum and then back to my normal settings, sometimes I have to make a save, go back to the menu and reload that save to get back to normal fps values. I had this issue a few times when patch 1.0.1 was released but only on the first evening. But during the last 2 days it happens almost every hour. Can someone confirm that I am not alone with this?

A bloodsucker followed me all the way from where you meet the ninth to valissia and I started a war between a bloodsucker and all the stalkers in valissia and it warms my heart because I was one attack away from death. The thing wouldn't stop following me I thought I'd lose aggro at some point but it kept following to a degree where I had no choice but to probably die, they JUST killed it and I was afk hearing gun fire for the past 5 minutes. They need to nerf the spongeiness. There's also way too many of them in my honest opinion, and they aren't worth fighting, they're literally just a hassle and pain in the ass in this game

Yeah but I remember in soc which I never made it that far in, bloodsuckers weren't that difficult to kill and there were way less of them, they should feel like a more rare occurance instead of oh you want to loot this little area well get ready to waste all your ammo because we got a bloodsucker here, there's one In the freaking prologue for no actual reason. Some of them don't de-aggro so running away is not an option, it kind of ruins the experience a bit. Making something unreasonably difficult because it's a stalker game is not an excuse for bullet sponges you'd think their skin is made of steel. They have flesh, at least make the damage do something to slow them down or hinder their ability to attack, just because it's stalker, does not mean the easiest area of the game should have 100 bloodsuckers. Sorry for ranting

So, yes, they stack, but there might be diminishing returns. I didn't use a stopwatch, but regen from 0 to 100 (0 being 5/6th of the stamina bar) without encumbrance takes about 8 seconds when standing still. 1 Thunderberry took about 3 seconds. Two Thunderberry took about 2 seconds.

Yw, I only found out via a mod description earlier that claims to remove the upper limit, didnt download it to check, not my style, but the information was useful. Phys resist artifacts are where stacking gets super busted tho. Get you two Compass' and the Weird Ball and you can tank stupid amounts of damage

You can get two Weird Balls If, and only if, your game decides to undiscover the anomaly you picked it up at, if it does, you can go back an get another, though i wouldnt rely on it, because it's a bug and is likely to be patched. Legendary artifacts can drop multiple times tho

That's kinda what I came here for today, too. The word maximum is misleading. It means maximum for a single artifact, not maximum you are capable of.

To my knowledge, and the way it worked in previous games, it should be referring to the amount of rad protection that artifact should givr you. So it doesnt “max out” your rad protection stat, it only denotes that it is the maximum amount of benefit an artifact can provide

So say you have two Thunderberries, they should both give you a numerical boost to your endurance stat, the amount of which is determined by their ‘effectiveness’ ie minimal, medium, maximum benefits

Min-maxxing implies a lot of choices you have to make to get an optimal setup, I find it very difficult to call the current artifact system/upgrade system anything close to what would require min-maxing

Like, the do's and dont's are really glairingly obvious after a basic understanding of how the system works, and there are very clearly defined good and bad artifacts

I've played through the game for the story several times now, but it really takes me out of the game if the Dnipro is like three times as powerful as a GP37. I own guns, I know ballistics, this makes no sense. 5.56 and 5.45 are for all intents and purposes ballistically identical, barring any specialty ammo. Also the disparity in power between guns of the same caliber. How the hell is the Kharod more powerful than the GP37 despite having a much shorter barrel and less muzzle velocity irl.

CoP has the worst balancing of the series as it doesnt give enuff distinction beetween offerings, since a SGI and a TRs or a GP would feel the exact same, making upgrades essentially non nomers

Anyone like me who started a new playthrough after all the patches and the game feels kind of too easy? It feels like the adjustments for mutants etc never made it in to my original save. Bodyshots feel much more viable in my second playthrough as well. No added mods or anything, the only thing i can think of is the INI tweaks i added that actually gave a smooth frame rate, which maybe helps with aiming. But this veteran playthough is a breeze so far.

I ran around with 10 bandages late game essentially since Medkits were replenishable

because you know, you'll never know if you need to heal like 200 times in a row because you messed up an artifact hunt, and started bleeding like 400 times also

The game even taunts you in one ending with crates full of canned food right before the last boss battle and ending
