eh, but you need to be decently deep in the main quest to even get it, so it is better to avoid relying on something much later on because before you get it your life will be miserable.

Weird water is also kinda funny to get and requires a decent amount of luck too.

Legit just had the funniest experience. Ran into a bloodsucker and realized OH NO I forgot to bring ammo for my Lynx and wasn't prepared. Eh, i don't mind the weight in some way. If you have equipment good enough to take more than half of your carry capacity then you will be most likely extremely hard to kill and it will be very easy to kill others

A lot of guys they get ready to offer you a quest and then don't finish their dialogue

wishgranter isn’t technically a real thing, it’s an illusion, just shows you a vision of whatever you wished for, will usually result in you dying in some capacity. Just a tool of the ccon. Like yea it can do all that but it’s a monkeys paw

If you haven't done so already, open the NVIDIA app and go to global settings, set Shader Cache to "Unlimited". Default cache size is just 4gb or something, making games like stalker 2 run poorly and making you "compile shader" for an eternity whenever you start the game.

imo i feel like losing zalissya works better narratively. Other than the ||noontiders|| not much gets lost with the resurgence of ||monolith||. Slag heap gets attacked but they do fine. My skif didn’t go, assuming they could handle it. When i returned, ||Gaffer|| lay dead on the floor of the central building. No weapon out, assuredly died begging for his life. The buildings had all been destroyed and turned over. Went back to my bed to find the guitar and played it in the chapel while the sky went dark. Sets the mood better seeing the area you started out in disheveled and destroyed

They really need to make the Mirage house (or at least the basement) protected from Emissions. I got stuck in a death loop because the emission killed me while in a story cutscene, and even if I skipped passed the cutscene, I was stuck in a long dialogue afterword. Took me a while to figure out that was happening. I had to load an older save and run a few hundred meters to the nearest location to survive the emission and then go back and trigger the cutscene.

Thing with Hilka and Echo is, you need to get real close for the artifact to appear. While Hilka can detect an artifact from 100 meters away, its somewhat annoying that you need to get real close.

try rolling back a save an hour or two before. i know it sucks, but the save state itself might be bugged and the patch might not have been enough to fix it as the bugged state is saved to the save file.

the game doesn't have a hard frame limit cap, so if you have your game set to unlimited, its going to bottleneck your gpu from trying to consistently run at max capacity. i set my FPS limit at 60fps and the game plays fine other than minor stuttering still in places like yaniv station and trash heap

im just saying, most people dont understand that alot of their games' latency and lag can be fixed by setting the FPS cap. i have two computers, a 4070ti super 14900k i9, and my guest computer is a 4060ti 13600k i7. the 4060ti does fine with the 60fps cap, and the 4070 does fine with 120 fps cap, although again i get dips in high npc populated area.

when ur running at unlimited fps its essentially forcing ur gpu to run at max clocks constantly which causes issues when u load new terrain and such as it overloads the gpu for a second, when u reduce ur fps the gpu is working less hard and as such those jitters are less noticable as ur not just maxing everything out. Gives you a little more leeway for the frame hitches.

the game being set to unlimited FPS means that your computer will actively run as much as it can without crashing the game. the problem persists when you go from areas that are more barren, into areas with higher asset generation or NPC population, causing bottlenecks on performance, lagging your game, causing massive FPS dips and latency to commands.

the most utilizing assets graphically in this game is shadows, reflections, hair, fog, and foliage. If you are still having performance issues after patches 1 through 3, try adjusting some of these settings lower and capping your FPS limit at either 60 or 30 and see if that helps.

A life was the original AI director for the first three games, its the signature touch of what makes a stalker game a stalker game. A life Director is special because it dynamically controls spawns, directs different factions to fight, randomly gives the players situations to deal with like rescuing another NPC stalker from a pack of mutant dogs, etc. A Life 2 is currently in the game files but essentially turned off right now, my guess is because theres a bunch of optimizations and code re-writes that need to be done to get it to work without burning up every computer with less than a 16gp GPU and 32gp CPU.

Theres tons of coding for the Director in the game's files with alot of coding commands set to false, meaning its turned off. essentially its RNG spawning with very little further thought

If A life 2 was working currently or a week ago when game was released, thered be alot of people with 4080s and i9s very upset at the fact that their rigs magically turned into nuclear power stations. its a slightly blessing that AL2 isnt working currently. Noone with an 8gb or 6gb card would be able to play this game even on minimum settings, and theres be alot of problems with 16gb cards with stutter, overheating, and 100% utilization of GPU/CPU. The game needs further optimization before something like AL2 can be implemented into the game, and lord knows what kind of haywire hold up AL2 is actually under right now that would only exaggerate the already silly current conditions of the release state of the game

Mannnn they must have really added a ton to Alife 2 to make it this tasting on hardwares cuz didn’t the old stalker games have Alife in it and it ran great but then again it was a much smaller game and graphics were way worse on it. But at this poit I say to the devs don’t make any shortcuts and don’t take anything out from Alife keep everything that’s suppose to be in Alife 2.0 and y’all’s can even add a toggle in the settings menu of the game to have Alife 2.0 enabled or disabled and then in the description for alife 2.0 the developers can put only recommended for people who have a Intel Core i9 14900k and RTX 5080 or newer and then it should run great. The developers can do what Cyberpunk 2077 did with Nvidia and release all their new features like Cyberpunk 2077 did which was all their attracting and oath tracing features and it was never meant to be able to run on every system just to test it out and see how great ray tracing and oath tracing looks in games and when you upgrade your pc high enough to be able to run ray tracing and oath tracing you can enable it. The developers of Stalker 2 can do the same thing with Alife 2.0.

It was working on 1.0.2 update and it was working even easier on that patch. Every video I kept seeing on the red tube where to see where to get certain item stashes from every single video the people has 1,000,000 coupons or more and I assume they did the infinite money glitch or how else would they have that much cuz they would have to do every mission in the game and side quest to get that much and they can literally buy whatever they want in the game without having to sell anything and can store it all in their stash since the stash size is infinite amount and is transferable through all camps in every zone so they were living the life and they can get all the best gear in the game right away.

so think about the game in 4 different slices of pie.

You have the character's slice of the pie which you eat and control.
You have Static character placements such as where richter is at certain times, traders, technicians, faction leaders, and certain mutant variants during certain missions.
Then you have the other two slices of pie, Non static mutant, and non static NPC.

So A Life 2, which at the end of the day is an artificial intelligence director system, the director of the orchestra if you'd rather, needs to control the two non static categories of the game. This also needs to tie into the weather system, it needs to read what the player is doing and where we are at, what missions we have completed and which one we are currently one. All in order to direct which faction characters should spawn in which area we are in, which ones fight each other, and when that happens. It also sets up background events like fights that we dont see, for example coming across a few dead stalkers and looting their bodies for ammo and guns, etc.

So this massive Generation reading and directing system needs to be able to function with the game's other directors, while not breaking anything.

also, we're talking about an essentially brand new game engine thats 2 years old, utilizing brand new technology and engine mechanics that i doubt much of the GSC developers are well trained on and Its' extremely finicky. seeing as really only Epic Games' Engine division developers know how to fully implement UE5 without breaking everything the engine renders, theres ONE UE5 game that hasnt had an atrocious release or controversial history and thats wukong. Game science specifically sent like 20 of their game developer team members to epic game's headquarters to be trained by UE5 Technicians and thats why that game functions as well as it does. UE5 at its core is a 10,000 piece jigsaw puzzle, and if you dont get all 10,000 pieces together perfectly the first time, it looks silly and functions even worse.

the game functions well once you go through and adjust your graphical settings and set the FPS cap at either 30,60,80, or 120. There were memory leaks involving NPC skeletons causing issues during playthroughs where high NPC populations would happen, but I played cyberpunk at release and can honestly say that CP02077 had one of the worst game releases i've ever seen, and the only reason its not the worst is because of the day before's release.

i had pc CP and it was a graphical nightmare. the game consistently crashed, game models for characters rendered wierd, i couldn't talk to NPCs without reloading the game multiple times. i was furious as im a huge fan of the witcher game series. Fallout 76 was a pretty bad release, i refunded the game after an hour and never re-purchased. I think the reason i'm not so mad about Stalker 2's state upon release is because i know this game probably didn't start on UE5, it probably didn't even start on UE4, and this game was essentially remade over the last 3-5 years for some unknown reasons from the proprietary engine Xray they used before, combined with the fact that a significant amount of this game's development time was done in a bunker themed basement studio.

Cyberpunk 2077 had a lot of minor/major visual glitches back then indeed, but it had a waaaay less critical bugs/issues like CTD, quest blocking also compared to Stalker 2. Green means some sort of buff, if it says that it has a "Low" green chemical protection then it will provide weak protection against chemical anomalies.

Red often means some sort of debuff or something worse, so the radiation being weak means that you will receive weak amounts of radiation.

alot of it could be the way things are rendered. updated character models can be alot of it. updates to texture packs can be alot of it. also they seem to be fixing alot of the quest and NPC language interactions, which seems to be available in like 15 different languages which takes alot of data. it all adds up.

alot of it's being replaced, some being added. depends on the update. the game should technically delete files that the updated patch files are replacing, along with adding any adjustments or new code. so the 18gb update you are seeing is probably really only 5-7 new gb

EDIT: the steam update was about 23gb, so we'll say about 7-12gb being new, but thats an estimate and im not for sure as i've not dug through the patch files nor the data mine forums for the game.

are you playing on a laptop? you might be hitting utilization on your CPU and your computer is picking up input latency through CPU bottlenecking. try going into your settings and finding performance, and putting it to performance mode or closing down non-required functional processess.

@empty totem You might have to restart the game if you can't find a save file to which you can start back from, but there should be a pre-bugged save state you can refer to at the very least where you hadn't picked up xxxx item or talked to xxxx npc yet. usually doing this clears the bug and allows you to ignore the corrupted or bugged save state and you just override that save state later.

game's performance has nothing to do with closed memory state (save file status). open memory status is whats rendered currently on screen and can be effected by memory leaks.

plus, i think the game has a cap on save states.

go into the Nvidia app, look for graphics, click on stalker 2, and optimize the game for your card. it should automatically set the game graphics settings to run perfectly from there. If you want to, you should be able to turn everything up besides hair and maybe reflections and get away with it. if not, you're probably suffering from over utilization of CPU

does it happen any particularly noticable time or event? i have a 4070ti super and a 14900k i9, your card should have no problem running this game on ultra especially after this last patch. it might be CPU over utilization. you can pull up the nvidia performance control app or omen gaming hub and see what your utilizations are from there. your CPU/GPU should bounce between maybe 70-80% gpu and 60-90%CPU depending on area of the game you are in. if not, probably look into bumping up another tier in main processor.

Spawn system complaints is really overblown imo. In 20 hours, I've had about 2 or 3 times where an enemy squad rolled up on me which felt like the broken spawn system. But even then, it felt fine because it's still fun and surprising even in those few times

"whether by company or community" means that the other elements of the game will catch up by virtue of the people that love its story, and people like you will revel in its glory. Yeah the background mechanics are bugged and that's fixable. Atmosphere, story, animations aren't fixable in bad games and in S2 case they're done amazingly well, so it's a great experience overall that'll only get better

Strangely I've had no problems like this. The only crashes I've had are at menu after shader compilation, never during gameplay. Worst thing that's happened is a short freeze when entering a new are for the first time

Yeah, it's the most obvious "we should put an invisible wall here so the player doesn't get into this area!" moment ever, so if it's not intentional IDK how they consciously put it in the game tbh. If you want to know how to get into this area (||Pripyat||) what you need to do is ||Go to the Yaniv traintracks and find the broken train tanker thing next to the crane. If you're not starting at the base and you get there you've gone too far. Same if you start at the Yaniv base and see the tower with the monlith sniper. There's a weird spot where you can just jump inside the broken train part and sneak into Pripyat.||
