The cheapest it has ever been is $183
oh
Tech field aging like a fruit fly
Do fruit flys age well?
Well then I'd say that's not the case
you can get 5700x3d's on aliexpress for like $140ish if you're willing to take that route
oh hell no
Tray cpus so no box or cooler, but I don't think the retail 5700x3d comes with a cooler anyways
I agree with the hell no
Most people aren't willing and don't need to take that risk
how is this $65? #tech-deals message
There's a $20 coupon, might be prime only?
Oh shows deals dead for me now
You still see it or nah?
Deals dead for me too
Alr im gonna replace it
Yep coupon is gone
lol it's $87.57 for me and I have the $20 coupon
Wait the 750 or 850
Oh yeah the 750 deal is back up
180 at microcenter
Microcenter might also have the 5600X3D
finally found a nice deal thats not a scam
$90 2TB MSI M482 Eco-Pack NVMe SSD
My current SSD, sadly bought it at $100
Ye that's very solid, lowest I've seen an m.2 of that tier in a while
Same
Literally went down within the last few hours
I'm wondering if I should get a second one lol
I got all my ssds extremely cheap
$30 2tb p41 plus, $34 1tb nv2, $28 1tb m450, free 512gb 660p
Just crazy good deals
The 2tb was off tiktok shop when the crazy deals were going on
M450 off amazon and nv2 Walmart pricing error iirc
Bro i see those walmart errors on shorts and reddit all the time
it makes me sad that i miss the deals
like some of them are insane
How do you find them
lol
first thing i see
i promise im original
i found it myself
is it the regular m482 or the ecopack?
eco
also i post stuff here i find off that sub all the time
lol the 750w psu post was from it
for the tt shop deals i was looking through pc parts basically daily when there were a lot of good deals
I will fight this monopoly TheTrueBacca has built in #tech-deals
We cannot let them be the only deal poster.
Fuh reel
All the more money for me to save
I wish most monopolys worked like this π
Guys is this worthy for #tech-deals?
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/skMFf7/toshiba-internal-hard-drive-mk3276gsx
Toshiba MK3276GSX 320 GB 2.5" 5400 RPM Internal Hard Drive (MK3276GSX)
(this is obviously a joke btw)
Cheaper than a 256GB flash drive, even from a reputable brand
I mean yeah just get a SATA to USB adapter and you're good
the 3 year warranty they include costs more than the drive
π
Insane
bro you paying them $10 for the box
Here's your adapter for it too. $8.49
https://www.amazon.com/SABRENT-SATA-USB-Cable-Converter/dp/B011M8YACM

idk how i thought this was a 2tb drive and almost agreed
π
Not really knowledgeable about SSDs but is it worth it to pick up the SSD just posted in #tech-deals even though it's an eco variant? Need 2TB but wonder if storage will still be fast enough
yep
it's still a mid tier gen 4 drive
and towards the higher end of mid
I need a new SSD so badly, I've been stuck with this piece of garbage for too long lmao
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B25ML2FH?tag=pcpapi-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1

Mine freezes up if i dare attempt to download anything above 10 gigs like every 5 seconds
dang I gotta get off aliexpress or i'm gonna start buying stuff i don't really need
aparrently thermalright makes psus? idk if they're good but ali has 650W sfx units for $65
And I could get an am4 itx mobo for $70
I got it that last time Bacca posted it. So ive been using it ~2mo. now? Mine has been great. No issues though you might want to use a 3rd party (if possible?) if you are going to use it as your main drive and need to copy your original drive to this one. MSIβs isnβt the most user friendly. Though it did work.
I think eco-pack might be referring to the packaging
and it's plenty fast
It says bulk packaging in the link so that makes sense to me
Probably just ships in a plastic holder in an envelope or something
or even just a plain cardboard box instead of a printed MSI one
I love when companies try to charge extra for this too in order to target the "environmentally friendly" crowd
Called it lol
As long as the mailman doesn't force it to bend then that's fine for a SSD
at least this time the eco pack is cheaper
You donβt know what my mailman is capable of! Lol
I live in texas, near Houston. I found a package in front of my driveway when i came home addressed to California.
I used to work for the post office, I know EXACTLY what they can do
I was the guy chucking your package across the room
TouchΓ©
(holiday rush, we had to sort 5000 packages into 8 boxes which are massive and don't fit in our usual sorting area so we had to chuck 'em)
When I say massive I mean small car size
At least you tried. Earlier this year both regional facilities down here got so backed up they were leaving stuff sit on the loading dock. Taking upwards of 3 months to deliver, and no telling how many people never got anything. It was so bad not only was the news investigating, congressmen were coming down to investigate.
That kinda happened near me because one of our more rural areas went on strike due to lack of manpower for the workload
My city was fine at least
I ended up being called for double overtime 40 miles away to work that facility to get them back up and running
16 hour shifts
Which they conveniently didn't log correctly in the computer and screwed me out of over a thousand dollars, which led to me quitting because the union wasn't helping either
What do you mean 3rd party? Like a 3rd party site?
Not a site. Just some other transfer/cloning software besides MSIβs. Like i said, it works. Itβs just not the most intuitive.
oh.
well considering this is my main drive with my OS on it, hopefully there exists one that can be ran on an external flash drive
seriously? thought you had to boot into a separate image in order to do that
that's nice
Clonezilla is good for running off a USB, but a little less user friendly
Seconding macrium, works great
And it's one of the few cloning softwares that doesn't impose a weird limit that keeps you from using the free version, like others that have a 400MB partition size limit
some software does that? wow, that's bad
they could at least do it like WinRAR
even though no one pays for it
Where the Black Friday deals
No where
@azure pond The 4070 Ti one is OOS
@azure pond do we know if that 1250 dollar PC has standard parts in it?
Cuz if it does, I might just get it and transplant it into my current case and let my dad have my current gear
It's non oem I believe
It's just a really good package
But that doesn't mean all the parts are good quality
Ram is 4800mhz iirc and I'm unsure if mobo allows xmp
@cursive sage you around?
Were you who bought a 3060 ti build from lenovo refurb?
Here
I'm bout to take a shower I'll be back in a few, just wanted to ask you this
Yeah I bought that build
And if so have you checked if it allows xmp?
I think checking would require a separate kit tho
Since i doubt they'd put a kit with xmp in a build that allows xmp and not turn it on (all their advertised specs have ddr4 2666 or ddr5 4800)
It's apparently a B650 board and 5600 MT/s memory
B650 chipset also SHOULD mean it can do PBO both OC and UV
It's seemingly a solid build
It'd be an upgrade compared to my current setup, buuuut my weak spot is monitor anyway so it wouldn't make sense
Here's the motherboard from it. It's as basic as it gets, no heatsinks or anything. Looks like a standard mATX at least. https://www.ebay.com.sg/itm/364581065350
No overclocking whatsoever in bios
RAM runs at jedec
Ryzen Master may be able to set timings but iirc changing tCL causes it to crash out
That's sad
I had a "friend" with an hp build do that on am4 w/o issue
But that's ofc one example and there's many different things that's affect that
Any computer parts that have the word hp on it is territory i wanna stay away from
fair
their laptops have been on the decent side recently from what foxy and felix have told me
Their GPUs are fine
But that's it
The gaming laptops specifically are a bit better than before but the jury is still out if they have the usual hinge issues since that's a long term problem
youd think having an issue long enough that its referred to as "the usual hinge issues" it wouldve been fixed ages ago lmao
It's been what, 15 years?
we love hp
My 8 year old dell laptop's plastic hinges still feel smooth, hm thats weird
Guess i gotta chalk it up to coincidence right
After all, usual wear and tear
I feel like dell is over hated
Ive never had any issues with dell tbh
I appreciate their internals a bit more
Although i havent gotten a dell in a minute
We were talking about hp tho
Oh mb
Lol all good
Their business focused stuff is great, but the gaming space stuff is mostly below bottom tier because they can't manage to cool things properly and it throttles hard. A 120mm AIO on a 14900K that makes it throttle so hard it loses to a 14700K. This applies to both Dell and Alienware branded stuff.
I see
I've seen it in the 200s
F
How to optimize the CPU correctly in Ryzen Master. This is how I have it. I want to know if everything is okay or if I need to adjust it better.
Do it from the BIOS. Don't use that Ryzen Master garbage
ryzen master is hot garbage
Holy ****, this some hot garbage. But I can't stop listening
Legalize nuclear bombs

$30 g305 lightspeed solid?
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Yrw7YJ/logitech-g305-lightspeed-wirelesswired-optical-mouse-910-005280
Zotac has a $220 4060 right now but even at that price it's a hard pill to swallow lol
Single fan too
Zotac doing zotac things

yeah zotac is just one of those brands for a gpu, not good, usually not bad, but it will get the job done
I much prefer massive heatsinks just for the stupidly low temps (cousin has a 4070 asus tuf running at 40c full load)
$8 on TikTok lol
Last I checked anyways
I bought a red devil gre WITH an undervolt and good airflow, i still cant dream of those temps under full load wtf
16GB variant?
Would be worth it if you're stupid like I am and wanted to use it for AI (if it's the 16GB variant lol)
Unless that's only the Ti that has 16GB (I wouldn't know I don't go below a X070 lol)
I think only the Ti has 16
yeah nvm then. Not worth getting an 8GB GPU in 2024, especially at that price
yeah idk how he does it or if he's lying, but he does have good airflow and an oc on the card
Makes sense considering 4070 averages something like 180W while gre is like 260W
I have an evga xc3 3070 and it averages around 210 watts, it's a much smaller cooler too, so it gets close to 70 on average
I should probably undervolt
I would definitely give it a shot. My 3060ti undervolts like crazy
sadly I can't undervolt my cpu bc intel
also ram doesn't oc past it's advertised frequency
forgot how to oc gpu, will be back in 10 hours with results
Undervolting is pretty easy
msi afterburner?
I use afterburner but anything with a voltage curve works. I think evga software and maybe others has one
Whatβs the purpose of undervolting?
lower power usage and temps
Lower temps can often mean it boosts higher too so you can in some cases use less power and get more fps
how I understand it (based on cpu undervolting)
all chips are slightly different, so the manufacturer gives a little bit higher voltage than needed so that all chips would be stable out of the box.
this also means that it's running less efficiently than possible, so undervolting aims to bring that voltage down to the lowest possible stable frequency
Doing this makes the chip run at the most efficient it can, meaning taking less power, and meaning less heat
I remember being told that
I am on pain relievers
Pls someone correct me if I'm wrong, I am no expert and learned this a few days ago π
No that's pretty well put together, except from my understanding its moreso to make sure that all those specific parts that kinda failed the silicon lottery which need the extra power function. This, in turn, creates a higher overall yield in product. Mass manufacturing moment
Yahooo so I wasn't completely wrong
Its also why theres varience in clock speeds as well, because, again, the sillicon lottery (or imperfections that differentiate two "identical" chips or whatev) determines yield and lower clock speeds are more stable for most parts
Hence, overclocking
clock speeds is more of a problem over power usage, since if it can't hit their advertised clock speeds then you're getting less than what you payed for
Its not the issue of parts being competent out of the box per se, they do testing, its just to make sure more parts work in total so they lose less money
Well thats why they set a clock that has the most benefit, enough yield and enough power to sustain
Older chips and parts werent as consistent in the manufacturing process, which is why overclocking was bigger in the past
Well mostly with nvidia in general
lol
Amd has always been on a higher volt than necessary tbh, but that yield! Woopie!
Next pc is 100% amd
Dont look at my name fr
whaaaat
didn't notice for sure
I've actually recommended that build to dozens of people by now π
Amd is gud, i hope intel 15th gen is at least somewhat competent tho because i dont want nvidia: processor edition
Its such a good combo for bang to buck
intel hasn't done anything remotely interesting since 12th gen, even then that was a slight upgrade
I specifically got the red devil too with the better heatsink since gres are supposed to be overclocking beasts, tho ive yet to touch clock on it yet and only have it undervolted
yep, I was going to get it myself, but it's not enough of an upgrade from my current system for me to justify it
So true π
nvidia has some auto ocing if you wanna test that out for a quick run
oh crap forgot you're on amd gpu π
told me 5 seconds ago and I immediately forgot
Gre? Never heard of it
I wanted to undervolt my cpu but intel is ass and locked it
Gold Rnvidia Edition
it could be so much more :(((
Intel prefers bombs
Rnvidia π
My cpu sips energy like a light cocktail π
I undervolted my laptop cpu but intel doesn't allow my desktop to be undervolted!?!?!
I still hit 86C on my laptop but at least it's not thermal throttling
(it is I'm just coping)
was only able to go -70 undervolt π
I get surprised if my cpu goes above 60 at max load π
My 13500 can pull 120w, but I have an absolutely agressive fan curve on it so it hits mayyybe 70C
Ive not even touched volt
usually around 40-50 while gaming tho
anyways I need to stop procrastinating and actually get some schoolwork done, nice talking to you
Lmao get your stuff done and focus π€
undervolting is so intriguing though, i need to undervolt my gpu ASAP
Undervolt doesnt help a crazy amount, but its like getting a fortune cookie with your takeout imo
Just a little something extra
If I can stay locked at 144 fps finally I'll be happy
1440p ultra really stresses my poor 3070
The gre is a 1440p beast, im so glad i got it
Not even a year ago i was on intel integrated π
My old laptop
This was my first actual build
next pc is 11900xtx πͺ 12950x3d
but 1440p 240hz :((((
A good gpu lasts 8 years minimum imo, idc if im playing on 720p 30fps im getting every last drip of value out of it
Okay maybe i do care if its 720p 30fps
But you get the point lol
1080p 60fps
There
I don't change what games I play very often, so I was playing on a 650ti until about 2 years ago
at the very least nowadays I need 1440p 144fps, I don't need anything too crazy just that
I play apex legends mostly, and some other random games here and there that don't require much pc usage
Cyberpunk is the most demanding title ive played on my pc so far, no upscaling and with raytracing (no path) at max 1440p i average about 50fps or so
I tried playing 4k ultra apex legends at one point and lagged so bad
Ray off i easy get 100fps
π
I dont own a 4k monitor
So im good running off what i do
I got a 4k as a secondary and at the time my main was 1080p 120hz
but it was 28" 4k vs 24" 1080, and it looked goofy as stacked
so tried 4k as my main and regretted it instantly
I used a 720p 32" tv as my monitor for something like 5 years
We had the same tv π
sceptre my beloved
I only got rid of it once the backlight went out π
I got rid of mine because i was done counting the individual pixels on my screen π
I couldn't care less lol
probably bc I was playing minecraft
But once I was spoiled by 1440p and 4k, there was no turning back
I was playing mostly terraria, i just like pretty visuals and audio, those two are both almost vital to me now
When i say good visuals i dont care about 3d and "realistic"
Shoot NiTW is one of my favourite games visually
I'm aiming for 4k 240hz oled 32" in the future, gotta wait until they're $200
$200 is crazy talk
what does that acronym mean
I've never heard of it
I never really liked indie games
singleplayer especially, I just could never have fun playing solo
Aye, we all have our tastes
I love a good multiplayer comp or coop, but good singleplayer stories are just chefs kiss agh to die for
I play sf6
The grind is real
And smash
Only single player game I ever finished was luigis mansion π
took 9 hours over the course of a few months lol
could never really get into it that much
Rip
tried animal crossing and stopped playing after the first hour lol
I like a variety of game genres, id get bored if i only played one
I play one game, not even a genre
New horizons sucked, but holy crap i had like 300 hours on wild world lmao
sometimes I'll play sea of thieves, but that's almost never
I cannot understand the appeal π it just feels like a time waster
same with botw and totk
Youre conveniently picking the games i have a lot of playtime in π₯Ή
Lmao
it's not a bad game, pretty fun with friends
I swear i have a life, its stretched over a long period of time
I only played it with friends
Never solo
I have one cousin who plays it and we almost never play
Now that one hurts my soul (totk was mid but botw was peak)
this is over the course of 2 years only
If that
I probably have upwards of 3k hours in minecraft
I have about 2.5k in smash ultimate
Countless in minecraft from all the different devices ive owned
I have like 50-100 in smash π
I play on an esports team with comp
I played it 5 hours a day almost every day for a few years
dang
lemme do the math rq
I probably have close to 10k hours in mc
for $30 that's not bad
I easily have that tbh, from the ps3, mobile, xbox one s, and my laptop
That's all on java exclusively
Well 30$ plus the gigawatts you took from the wall
3770/650 ti most efficient pc π₯
Oh mines strewn across bedrock java and technically pocket edition
I played pirated pocket edition for a good couple of hours
Makes sense its piratable ig
I've been using a pc since I was a wee lad, never really did console gaming
except for mario kart and smash bros
I admittedly have sailed the seven seas a couple times to demo games i didnt want to fruitlessly spend money on 60 dollar games to see if i liked them first
I grew up console
Didnt really have a choice
Not that im complaining
That may or may not have been how I played botw to see if I liked it
Gamecube was peak
Shhh the gods might cast lighting upon you
I played on the switch the most by far, but also played on the ds lite, 2ds, 3ds, wii, and xbox one s
ROOKIE NUMBERS
hey I corrected myself
I played hypixel like 20 hours a week for a solid two years
closer to 10k
rookie numbers, try 5 hours a day for 4 years
I think i did 2.5k hours in a year during covid
I was playing DURING school weeks
before covid
finished my homework before school even ended
I have too many hours in minecraft over my life π
I 100% have been the best player in classic duels at one point
Got bored of it past couple of years tho, only like touched rlcraft multiplayer a bit with a friend
I was a god in that elytra mode
elytra mode?
You wouldnt know β€οΈ
hypixel is 1.8
ahhh ok
I am still surprisingly good at party games
I win most times I play, even without practice
Eh
Depends on the party game
Some im goated at
Some i need a degree in gambling
grinch simulator is peak
Im gonna go ahead and say you should stop procrastinating
I was waiting for you to notice
whaaat nooooo
I hit UHC master 2 but I've never been cracked cracked
Always been solid but there's a large gap between me and the top players
I also stopped playing for like three years so yknow
I never played that many classic games, but I did lose my acc at some point so my lvl got reset
I have maybe 200 hours in skyblock
I played a diff sky block server forever ago
got tired of grinding for pointless things
Called skybounds
skypixel better
I have now noticed
I shall take my leave and procrastinate some other way
Good day gentlemen
photo ok bye
Insane

why does instagram force a crop on photos π
makes it look like crap when all you can see is the floor
are you not able to select which aspect ratio you want the pic? think it defaults to 1:1 but you can select before uploading, no?
Instagram is annoying lol
Compress the photo. Can't download the photo. Forced to screenshot if you want to save it. Photo looks worse and worse as it gets shared
Same with videos
You can, but only 1 aspect ratio per post
i.e no mixing 4:3 with 1:1 etc
Personally I just add black bars/padding. Makes my page/profile not look as good but I value the composition of my pics lol
@azure pond That reburb'd monitor is $109.99
Might just be a me thing? idk, it's eBay
Fixed
bett π
Would it be worth to get a g80sd for 854 plus taxes?
Samsung has a code right now for monitor10off to add an additional 10% you can use with g80sd π€
I think there are cheaper OLEDs of that spec. I wouldn't know of them but I bet Bacca would know
I've been looking and can't find any π
Also, what specs do you have that lets you run 4K 240Hz?
None lmao
But i may get a 50's card
that's like Yankee with no brim
build your PC first. Don't get a monitor yet lol
1440p 240Hz is probably the safest option
this guy just tried uploading a gif
Also I don't like my 1440p monitor
What monitor is it?
Text clarity is cheeks and I want 4k for better resolution in aaa titles I've been waiting to play
Ktc oled
Like don't get me wrong it looks great but I know text wise it could be slightly better
G27p6
I got it on sale super cheap like 480 so it wasn't bad for needing a monitor
nah something is setup wrong on your end if you can't read text from a 27" 1440p monitor]
I can read text it just gets slightly choppy
I can read text clearly on a 27" 1080p monitor I have at work π
Ktc is an OEM for other brands
That isn't your issue
I do believe there's things you can customize to help with text clarity though
I highly highly doubt 4k would be your answer.
I still need a 2nd monitor anyways lol
There's this acer 27" mini led 4k monitor we've seen on sale in the low $200s a lot
That would be absolutely fantastic text/productivity wise, if that's your thing?
Definitely better than designating an oled as a secondary lol
Eh I'm kind of dead set on getting a 4k oled monitor
You do you dude
I've never paid any attention to 4k oled pricing. The only gpu that can push enough fps in enough games for it to make sense is the 4090 and im not in the habit of suggesting $4000 monitor and gpu pairings
That's fair
What are you saying the average consumer cant afford lucrative prices?
Who coulda thunk
I may be misremembering but I think some oled panels have issues with text clarity
Have you tried the windows calibration tool?
cleartype text tuner or something like that, it runs after you do a color/contrast adjustement
A look at the fringing issues that affect QD-OLED and WOLED panels, including text examples (with and without ClearType), fine edges and coloured highlights.
You sent this like an hour ago. Turn on pings
Don't be shy goober
sorry some people dont like em lol
and the info was more pertinent to liqourachi not you specifically
Bring back tiktok deals
Ask TikTok
I need a 2tb ssd for $30 again :(((
need to make a full ssd storage server smh my head
lmk when u find one
tiktok had them for a few weeks
Partly was from a huge surplus of nand and such, partly from tiktok itself w/ their coupons they had. Nowadays, I'm still happy w/ $120 for the 4TB mp34. Currently just a storage/game drive anyways.
$30 2tb p41 plus and $28 1tb m450 was peak
No MC anywhere near, so I'll always like seeing something similar value that's freely available online. -- note: from August 2023, was definitely a solid buy back then.
Just got the g80sd for 720 pre tax π
Nice
Late reply but that's WOLED you're thinking of because of the non-standard pixel layout
Yeah I pulled up an article about it
Man wtf
I really want to get it lol, but not enough of an upgrade from my 3070
What man do to those cables to make them so dorty
2% upgrade DO IT
Is that really the perf diff? Yeesh
Yeah 3070 ti is a 3070 with hotter and slightly faster vram
3070 feels like such a good spot to be in even with 50s coming...
I was happy w my 3060 ti but it decided it didn't like me and gave out
Now I'm on a 2080 ti i got for the half working 3060 ti +$90
Which is basically a 3070 with more vram
Do you have one of the cool ones with the see through 90s plastic?
Wish those were still being done on new cards
Nah I don't
It was a waterblocked card a dude through a dual fan evga cooler on
It's technichally a 2070 shroud but it's the same as the dual fan 2080 ti from evga
Temps are good so idc where the hell it came from lmao
That's solid tho shows $230-10 rebate for me
Shows me 230$
Considering b650 eagle ax hasn't been below $150+ 32gb ddr5 at $90 it's a solid deal
I bought 2 of them . That's pretty deal
Shows a $219 after rebate for me
Also you having wifi7 and usb4 future
Sorry meant $219
How is the Super Flower Leadex VII XP PRO? It dropped to $190 for 1000w and I'm wondering if it's worth it
It is not
Good quality 1000w should be $110-140
Anything like that on the market or wait until black friday?
I would short that link tho lol it's too long
idk how
just delete everything after ? mark
you can trust me π
MC has some decent black Friday deals released via email newsletter, probably more on their site

Im curious why so many dislikes on the SSD deal
Because there's a $90 SSD that outperforms it
Just a few deals up, it's the MSI Spatium one
Wait wat
M482 outperforms the sn850x?
In synthetics it's mostly a tie except in random read where the M482 wins
darn, ps5 showing $470 for me
I think its going back and forth
Nice TikTok username bacca
Just brace yourself to buy 4-5 year old games for $50 each
Oh that links to my personal info
Ima go ahead and...
Not much but still
lol
Oh nevermind
I don't even have the app to view the profile just saw a little banner at the top of the webpage lol
I thought my full name was still on my profile
John Techie
The βbasically best under $300β monitor is going on sale soon
Im super excited
Less than $270 for a mini led 1440p 180hz AOC monitor!
Can you buy as many cards as you want?
only 1
No
Womp womp no infinite money glitch
Dang I would have bought like 10
I would have bought 11 and be richer than you in Newegg gift cards
Joke's on you I already have a $100 gift card
That buys you what, 4 cookies?
No it buys me obesity
Bro those cookies are awful
Itβs like the most mid 10,000 calorie cookies Iβve ever had
Also now Iβm debating to wait for the 180hz mini led monitor sale or get this MSI 1080p 300hz monitor
Itβs leveraging FPS or quality
Also VA vs IPS
Tough call since a higher end modern VA is about as good as a cheaper IPS
GiB
Gibibyte?
It's mini led VA
The good kind iirc
Yeah
I have it actually
I honestly can't tell much of a difference between it and my omen 27q, but i haven't done a side by side comparison fully
In reviews it tested better than the acer mini led thats been on sale recently
The omen 27q?
Everyoneβs been recommending the same AOC monitor to me
1440p 165hz ips
Wait no
I have the x27q
But they're near identical
The aoc mini led is great, im not saying it's bad
Just a personal experience
XV275U P3 >>>>>
Do you play very competitive first person shooters
Ye
What monitors are being compared here
At what skill level?
Unpaid and nobody cares
That 300hz 1080p in tech deals, aoc mini led and acer mini led
What gpu
Then id rule out the 300hz personally
3070TI and possibly upgrade within months

Cooler Master GP27U - ...
The xv275u is compared in here
$190 damn
- 1440p is justified for a 3070Ti so rules out the 1080p monitor
- q27g3xmn isn't miles better than the XV275U P3 for 50% more
XV275U P3 is the obvious pick
Black Friday sale on wegg so it might be cheaper
At what price is the AOC one better?
Near the same
If it's $10 one way or another then it's justifiably worthwhile
But $80 no
The XV says itβs got 2ms response (I know they arenβt true) but still
The XV275U P3 reviews really well for the price it sells
2ms is a meme marketing point
Most monitors jump between 0.03 and 9
Depending on the tech
There's no monitor on a market with a consistent 2ms gtg
Do yβall vouch the XV?
In fact, given the market, it may be a reasonable fact that these two monitors could be using the same (Or similar) panel
I do
Bacca uses one
I know you do
It's the best 1440p pick rn
Is mini led a big deal for FPS
Up until the ~500+ OLED's
OLED is a big deal, anything else is more or less negligible
They have strengths and weaknesses
Only OLED is a real advantage
Because it's the best reviewed and quality screen in a sea of picks
Iβll see how low the AOC goes
Mini led has fantastic colour and light zone control, something traditional monitors at this price don't have
Alr
Although I wanna hear another vouch for ur monitor
I'd go with the nitro tho if the price doesn't go down
Iβve been recommended every single monitor out there
PCMR has ignored my monitor questions for the last week
PCMR is a joke
There's like, 10000 people there asking questions and equally treating each other like crap and also making bad suggestions
If you want real monitor suggestions go seek out blur buster communities
Half the people that lurk PCMR also troll it
Sure but they all didn't mention it's worth 50% more in price
At $280 they did
That's not worth $90 over basically the same panel
There have been $300 OLED panels before that can beat a $280 mini led by a mile
Currently at 1080p 32β no HDR no adaptive sync so anything is better
$300 oled would be better?
I just hear horror stories about oled
Not the one I was referencing
Like I just got a $10 Newegg giftcard for $5
Burn in doesn't exist when the panel isn't bright enough to produce the heat beyond TFT to cause it
So I can afford oled if itβs much better
Beyond this you'd go to like, LG C5 or Odyssey G9 if you wanted better
There's very little if at all improvement past this
49β is insane
Ultrawide probably
That's usually people that don't know better experiencing temporary image retention and calling it "burn in", when in reality it can take years to be noticeable.
https://youtu.be/Fa7V_OOu6B8?si=4DkTrGRPx5Dtem1w
While burn-in is inherent to OLED technology, manufacturers can compensate for it through software designed to improve the useable life of your panel. Fortunately for you, manufacturers implement this well, meaning that permanent burn-in isn't that big of a concern for most folksβunless you're using an ultrawide OLED monitor, that is.
In this ...
That is a worst case scenario test with the monitors cycling 24/7 with multiple static elements

Or as equally much so, not taking the proper care with their screen and just slamming the brightness without doing the proper care cycles
2 for 1
Lol
What is a care cycle for an oled monitor
Turn the screen off when youβre done with it
Turn it off and let it do a refresh cycle every few hours, don't run it slammed to max brightness if it's a HDR 1000 model
(Iirc HDR 1000 is now "HDR 400 true black" for OLED)
400 true black only requires 400 nits but it can look better than an IPS with HDR 1000
600 true black is the highest that vesa certifies
Yeah so it'll be hdr true black 400 then
Modern ones will do it automagically when the display has been sleeping for a period of time. The exact timing and duration of the cycle varies by brand.
This is further explained in the linked video, it really is interesting if you're into the technical details
A bit out of my budget
$300 max
Originally I was at $200 max so Iβd prefer that
I went from mini led to oled. It's a game changer. Black is actually black. Pixels are way more smooth too. I'd say it's probably because instead of getting a washed out black that is dispersed throughout the panel making everything else more fuzzy/white you get pure black making the rest of the colors pop. Here's a pic from reddit on ips vs oled
As a guy who got his for 480 plus tax id probably pay it again for a cheap entry to oled. It is a nice monitor but if you use hdr like me a lot of features are locked. If you strictly use sdr then you get all the features all the time.... also kvm is pretty solid too
Is it important for FPS gaming
There's a better non screen shot pixilated image lol
And ehhhh idk. I have a hisense u8g tv I used with my ps5 for years. Was great but oled was new at the time, scared of burn in as no warranty for those (was 2020) i usually play cod, it looked good on my ps5 and TV but when I hooked my pc up to it it just didn't feel right? And I wanted a monitor so I did a pay in 4 on the ktc one
Properly calibrated OLED has basically instant response time
FPS increases reduce latency between frames which reduce response time
And i will say it looks better. If you stay in a higher refresh rate then it would probably be more worth as I went from 120hz to 240hz
So the 2+2 is easy
Instant response = minimum latency
It's the easiest way to reduce system latency in the current PC gaming era
The impact of latency reduction is in equivalence of several gpu upgrades
I really wish I could've gotten a name brand one for 1440p, but the ktc was a good introduction, got me hooked and will be my 2nd monitor now lol
The KTC is one of the best ones
It's an LG panel
But with a kvm and PD charge
It's technically better than the LG one itself imo
I just hate that when in hdr you get all the settings locked essentially
Kvm is so clutch
That's standard for all monitors and hdr
Something I didn't realized I needed until I tried it lol
Yeah KVMs are great if you have a proper way to use them
Damn really? Is that just cause windows hdr?
Mhm
Some monitors come with several hdr presets but basically all of them lock down under hdr
Is windows ever going to make hdr good or am I just stuck constantly re-downloading my nvidia drivers to make cod good to look at lmao
Early HDR screens came with tons of customisation (And also tons of inaccuracy)
The windows base level hdr always sucks lol
I couldn't tell you if it'll get any better any time soon lol
Yeah, I've noticed lol and that's fine, cod seems to be the only game that properly displays hdr.
W11 gives you a small amount of control with HDR brightness sliders
It's generally just pretty meh tho
That's still cheeks too imo because when in auto mode if you decide to go to the internet your white is now super dark. That is annoying as hell too
Ty papa bill
...
Wait so chrome has an option for hdr?
Mhm
I'll look it up
Chromium in general
Swap to edge btw, still basically chrome but adblock still works
Just a heads up
Appreciate that I'll look into it
The one good thing about tv and console set up is hdr does look amazing on it. Def got spoiled by that. But I'll literally take playing on a pc now over good hdr any day of the week. Gaming on pc is really a different level
Also freedom. Hacked/modded minecraft really do hit different lol
Do you have a best buy or micro center near you?
Then go with the $190 mini led
Bestbuy with a micro center couple hundred miles away
If you have a best buy near you go in and look at some monitors. Check out oled then check out ips. Don't have to buy, just a dabble
Then you can decide if it's really worth for you
Our best buy shut down like 2 years ago so now I'm an hour out from MC/BB which suckkkksssss
The one thing i will say though is that if you plan on upgrading your gpu to 50 series I would wait/skip on oled as there's currently only 1 oled monitor with dp 2.1.
This could possibly be done with best buy open box as well. Atleast $400 But idk how bad open boxes are. Have seen good and bad things from them. Do with this as you will
as an enjoyer of firefox, it has its issues but its just a million times superior to edge imo
it feels like its just, not predatory lol
simple layouts, simple customization
ublock works
I'm sure it does, I need some form of chromium for work tho
Only reason I hold on

Chrome lost me once and for all the moment adblocker didn't work
i c
Some stuff I use need specifically a chromium session
Otherwise you get like, parts of the website won't load or I can't see the popup
hm
Or it'll say something else like "Enable cookies"
And they're enabled
It's just extra teething that I don't want to bother with as long as I can still use adblock lol
thats fair
Got no issue with firefox, used it for many years of my life lol
It's just this is easier atm
that alone is the only reason i still use windows, if some of the things i used worked on linux id have been gone long ago
I can't do linux now
adobe being the bane of my existence
might switch to divinci resolve at one point lol
After all my linux pain the last few weeks I know for a fact I am not a linux type user
Lol
understandable
im gonna be learning linux anyway with some of the college courses im taking
I can use it in like, basic amounts, but for the stuff I normally like to do I just can't deal
My problem with it isn't even my skill level
No, if I am told the right code, right method for my specs, I can do it all super easy
linux just doesnt have enough compatability
But that's my problem
Ya
It's the compatibility side
Everyone has their own
Like
STUPID
Tutorial

It works perfectly for THEM, and you read through it like
lol because linux, with benefits to being a wild west, is still a wild west
"Do these 5 steps"
And they list sub steps
So it's actually 37 steps
And each step can completely not work with your identical machine
windows is like the urbanization of OS
So you need to figure out what's wrong and then you get moments in these dumb tutorials like
sure it has its convenience benefits, but boy are some of the stuff it offers stupid
"Oh yeah just youtube this part you'll know what to do"
HDR support is a big thing for me
And you're like "?????"
THERE'S NO HINTS AT ALL

I can't handle that
I am straight as an arrow
I'd LOVE a personalised OS, sounds amazingly cool
today we'll be learning how to do this thing, but to do that you need to learn how to do this thing first, but to learn how to do that thing you nee
YES
AND THEY SAY NOTHING ABOUT IT
It's extremely good at raising my blood pressure
But I can't handle learning under assumed knowledge and unexpected problems
I like a clear outcome
its like expecting you to be navigating linux with the education background of an undergrad
which is kinda why i gave up cracking my android lol
It's like starting your first driving session with the instructor expecting you to be the next michael schumacher
fr
So wait are 5000 series only DP 2.1?
There's just, so many tutorials, so many dumb assumptions that just ruin the tutorials
Do non oled monitors use DP 2.1?
embed moment
No real 2.1 exists yet
Real i.e UBR80
All current 2.1 is 40 or 56
The specs arent technically out yet, but it should be dp 2.1 and I'm assuming hdmi 2.1?
Which is basically 1.4/a
i need my tutorial tutorial to learn the tutorial for the tutorial tutorial
We will probably see more dp 2.1 post new year. But everything will be new and hot
= pricey
so whats the deal with the new intel gpu line
[Seinfeld music]
Imo unless intel comes out with a banger card, I don't think they'll be worth a damn. Just like now lol.
Nvidia needs to come back down to earth so tbh I'm here for intel if they can do that
If not then they can burn like their 13/14th gen cpus π
i want them to be actually competent and give amd some competition so i dont fork over my life savings for a ryzen 5 15600x years down the line
Tbh I think amd cards are priced really decent
Amd cards are great
When I upgrade I would probably go AMD 7000 or 8000
Unless you get a 50 series then no. It will probably be more relevant in like 3/4 years
There's not really any sane configuration for anyone atm that needs real 2.1
7900xtx technically offers 2.1 DP
I see. What mean lol
What does 2.1 even offer over 2.0
So will OLED be the most relevant monitor to get now to last longest?
UBR56 is on W7900
Compress bandwidth?
But no monitor afaik has UBR80 yet publicly
Unless it's changed in the last 2 months
How long do you game for usually
Hours at a time
Daily?
Must be nice lol
But anyways, if I were you I'd recommend getting one w a 2/3 year warranty that covers burn in
Im curious what theyll count as burn in on a warranty like that
So basically most new OLED monitors
My TV is 3/4 years old and it's a mini led. It is showing some faint burned/dead pixels. And I did play it a lot. My oled experience is only 2 months so far and I usually just have long sessions on weekend
My assumption is theyll have some stingy subnotes in the warranty
I donβt need high brightness gaming tho
Besides ktc lmao. The warranty sheet you have to send to China. Lmao
Pretty much play in the dark
250nits honestly makes my eyes hurt
Whatever the max is on the ktc makes my eyes bleed so if you turn down brightness you will be fine. They're really bright tbh
It's the whitest white you'd ever see
It's basically the equivalent of looking at the snow in winter on a "sunny" day lol
Oled reducing brightness when you open big white panel lol
The difference is looking at snow doesnt hurt my eyes
idk about QD-oleds but Woled panels sux
I prefer miniled for work
more accurate colors
I'm currently on a 32" 1080p 165hz HDR Adaptive Sync IPS Curved monitor
I think I might just go with the mini-led since a $500 investment is really big and I have such a low standard that mini-led 27" 1440p will be insane
Using G9 4k for work and regular G9 for gaming
I'd only get mini-LED if it was at least competent enough for the types of games i play, the big one being SF6
student discount? how does that work
COD WW2, Fortnite, R6 Siege, Valorant, and now Overwatch
Just put a promo code and it works if you use a .edu email
Samsung gives pretty good deals with edu
The monitor i got if I would've had edu or employee offer i would've gotten a free ips monitor
i have an edu email so i wish i knew this lol
I think samsungs own website offers 30%
Yeah samsungs was pretty killer
lemme see what i can get from samsung
Oh well, I still got my monitor damn near half off after taxes. Being a loyal customer paid off for once lol
Samsung have some decent monitors . Their prices aren't that good in US usually but you can find deals
45% off i consider pretty dang good

The samsung G61SD is $640 for students
G60SD $630
G85SB is $550 - sadly only 175hz
G9 gang

49" or 57"
all i hear is money i dont have
24" Odyssey G3 (G30D) FHD 180Hz 1ms Gaming Monitor with Ergonomic Stand $160
25" Odyssey G40B FHD IPS 240Hz 1ms(GtG) G-Sync Compatible Gaming Monitor $180
27" Odyssey G50D QHD Fast IPS 180Hz 1ms DisplayHDR 400 Gaming Monitor $230
27" Odyssey G65B QHD 240Hz 1ms HDR600 Gaming Hub 1000R Curved Gaming Monitor $300
Any of these better price to performance than the $180 mini led?
Once ordered G9 oled but it was DOA
never borthered again
The 57" Neo G9 $k 420hz is $1500 with a $1000 education savings?
Sadly I'm too old to use edu discount
but I got them on black friday sales . 750$ for regular g9 , 1200$ for 4k
Wouldn't pick any of those
The last one I thought was an upgraded 2020 G7 with smart tv but turns out it's a downgrade with smart tv since it has a worse panel
Honestly if that one mini led that i saw going for about 180 here recently had a student discount id already have bought it lol
G4 is good looking one . But it have low contrast . G50D also have low contrast and local dimming sux . At dark room black can be wash to gray . G65B is also good looking one . Also local dimming is bad but contrast is good
if you gaming at dark room samsungs ips panels not decent for you
Although i hate touching BH lol
Bh is amazing honestly especially for east coast
if you use their card , you not paying sales tax tho
i got an amazon card so i get like 5-10% back on purchases
so id prefer buying off amazon if possible
Prime and everything benefits me with amazon yeah
Yeah that's the one I keep suggesting lol
Really good one
