You didn't ask me but I'm feeling curtious (iykyk). Here's the link
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-victus-16-1-gaming-laptop-amd-ryzen-7-8845hs-16gb-ddr5-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4070-512gb-ssd-mica-silver/6578934.p?skuId=6578934
mf is sorry for no reason 💀
lmao
You'd only want pcie 3 so really as cheap as you feel is worth it
Or do a case swap, or find another way to hide it like custom partitions for the mobo tray
Throw some pop figures below the GPU
Should I go with the $110 PG riptide now, wait until a good deal for Black Friday, or go with a $150 eagle AX?
Like is the Pg riptide really good at $110 or is there something else I could wait for
Why not pcie 4?
If you prefer. Just saying you only need 3
In fact tbh 2
How big is the difference
Basically 0%
Let’s just go pcie 1
1 is a bit too slow to handle a 3070 ti
Maybe I’ll use usb-c to plug my 3070Ti
Cos ooo shiny
Only a handful of gpus actually need to run on latest spec
Notable examples are arc alchemist (intel) and amd's 6500xt
Arc also likes rebar
Some 40 series can suffer in edge cases as well
They’re like $50+
Which tho
Most of them
Phanteleks, Lian Li, NZXT, cooler master
Like I might as well get a ATX mobo
Cooler master's v3 one which is frankly one of the best starts at 38 on amazon
Like even if we were talking 150, AM5 just really isn't worth that price cos the cpus cost so much more imo
You pay 190+ for the equiavalent 150 12600k
The difference being it's amd instead and you bank on only swapping cpu later, but as far as net cost it can be considered a loss since selling the mobo won't make up that $40 difference
If you were talking a sub 130 AM5 board, that's more justifiable
Cos then the platform change price difference is now much smaller
Uhhh
I’m using an i5-14600k
so lga1700 not am5
Already own the cpu and case
And GPU
150 for almost identical features as a 110 board is a hard sell
Especially since no one uses more than 2 pcie slots on a board anymore
Thanks for sending link got busy at work
So you say get the b760m riptide and not wait for Black Friday and hope for a deal?
The $110 riptide is on par with any ATX motherboard
It's not impossible to beat but it is unlikely you'd get a better price for a pretty strong mid range board
Anything goes really
What should I fill the gap
Tbh a good piece of metal could hide the bottom standoffs and make it look intentional
I do have a support stand for my GPU
Like a lil metal rod screw thing
It’s also a blackout build too
What gpu is it
3070 TI
Tuf gaming oc
I don't think it has one
Has what
A support stand included
You can use that then
Oh I misread I thought you were asking lmao
Read Do I not I do
Lol
Maybe ill buy a second motherboard to fill the space in
It's up to you tho, if it gets too expensive then yeah, you may as well not overcomplicate and get a different board if it bothers you too much
It won’t the
Tbh
Blackout build I won’t be able to see it
I’ll have the 8x2 cable blocking the way too
Well a simple spray black piece of metal can hide a section of the motherboard tray
Depending on your luck or handiwork skills, very cheap
I had an matx o11 build until I want to dan A3, I was hiding the bottom part of the board with a radiator
Throw an Xbox at the bottom
Black light and put some black light paint on parts in my pc
If I decide to spend $500 on a custom loop I can put the reservoir below.
Could even 3d print a cover
Maybe I’ll throw my old GPU below it and pretend I’m doing twin SLI
Could even just display it there
The 1080 founders edition
That's a beloved pick
Indeed
If you ever get rid of it, I would like it
The 8GB goat
Forgot the 1080 TI
Wasn't out yet
Huh
Funny how I upgraded from a 1080 on my first pc to a 2060
I had no idea that 1080 was better
That's how people still feel today when they "upgrade" from a 2080 to a 4060
Well tbh
Even with a loss in FPS you still gain in newer technology and support
Like yeah 1080 or even a 1070 to a 2060 would be a loss in FPS, but the RTX technology and newer drivers in 2060 would be better.
Also I think power efficiency is better
Although my friend has a 1080 TI and he runs basically every game at the same settings as my 3070 TI
Not really. DLSS works on the 2080, just not frame gen, which is useless or unusable in many games and especially at lower base frame rates (like you'd get on a 4060 at anything above 1080p)
Power efficiency, sure, but that's not worth losing fps over
And quality
lol I might get that B760M riptide for free
I’ve been saving up gift cards from random surveys on my college campus
Best tech deal possible
Indeed, nothing beats free
@azure pond includes a $30 coupon. $109.99 not $130
Coupons tend to vary by region

Legit cause they give me a $150 sign on bonus
biostar still makes gpus 💀
Why get a $500 3080 when you can get a 4070 for the same price
DLSS 3, less power consumption, and overall newer.
Buy PNY GeForce RTX™ 4070 GPU 12GB XLR8 Gaming VERTO EPIC-X RGB™ Triple Fan DLSS 3 Graphics Card at Walmart.com
or even a 7900 GRE

Huh!?
wdym huh?
I'm not sure if a 3080 10gb is still worth $400 new with the other cards on the market.
It should be creeping down yeah
Hell
A 6800xt is $425 rn new
That slaps a 4070 around
7600xt is pretty good value
disagreed
6700xt/6750xt were 290/300 for a long while
10% better
also only $30 less than the 7700xt for like 20-25% worse perf
There's no sensible use case for a 7600xt at all
7600 is $226 which is great, the extra vram on the 7600xt isnt a big deal on a card of that tier https://pcpartpicker.com/product/rJBzK8/acer-predator-bifrost-oc-radeon-rx-7600-8-gb-video-card-apbf-arx7600-8g-oc
If you want to spend 300 on an over 8gb card get a 6700xt or 7700xt
If that doesn't cut it then a 1080ti or titan xp definitely will for sub 200
Or a 2080ti for sub 300
1080tis can be found for under $150
Yup
Are "Aztek Computers" or "Provantage" trustworthy electronics dealers? I've never heard of either of them.
I’ve never heard of either
Aztek seems to be a smaller e-commerce store based out of Texas.
Provantage just the same(unsure where they’re based)
I have never heard of Aztek Computers either
Are you in the US?
yes
If so I'd likely just use a diff retailer
B&h, newegg, adorama, amazon, best buy are all fine
Pcpartpicker.com provides prices from main websites like those for parts
I'm looking for an RX 7800XT
is central computers any good? I found the Sapphire gpu I'm after
and it's at MSRP as well
so, it would be a special order, which I would assume means they'd have to get some the next time 7800XTs are restocked, and they'd ship it to me
I’d just get one from the major retailers.
Back order is just a waste of time tbh.
Unless you’re saving a significant amount of money. Which if it’s just at msrp, it’s not worth waiting.
I don't need it right now, depending on how long the wait would be, I can wait
Yeah, Amazon has them for the same price. I’d just get it there.
Or used from eBay.
I found the GPU on eBay, it's the Sapphire 21330-01-20G, I think is the model? Goddamn, they were expensive
The model doesn’t really matter unless there’s a size restriction or some other incompatibility
it's the GPU on AMD's site, iirc
unless it’s MSI
Yeah, it shouldn’t matter which
Hellhound is a decent brand
@kindred citrus as a side note, don’t bother asking pcmr for any help. they’re all kinda just… not right most of the time
oh-
well, I'm probably going to just buy the GPU from central computers, and hope they can fulfill the order next time AMD restocks their 7800XTs
now it's just a waiting game
Watch what you say there may be spies
Dang, I hope I don’t offend them
we're waiting outside

Should I upgrade from RTX 3070 TI to 7900 GRE or wait for the 5000 series (or 8000 series)?
I'd aim a little higher than a GRE to make that worth it imo
7900XT at a minimum
Those have been on excellent sales too
Check your psu if you decide to get that one
Personally I'd wait
Waiting isn't the worst idea, though this is when AMD has in the past pushed their best sales around this time
Right before next gen
This is when we saw the $550-ish 6950XT's
Which to this day were ridiculously good sales
Id def wait a good handful of years before upgrading from a 3070 ti
Or you could sell and upgrade from there if you really want to upgrade
And for me itd be at minimum an xtx
I would be upgrading my brothers 2060 with my 3070 TI
But tbh he plays google so i dont think its too needed rn
If he plays google he doesnt even need a dedicated gpu lmao
Bro plays Google
bro's gunna need alot of ram
Imagine being chrome bottlenecked
Not like Chrome is actively sabotaging the best way to reduce RAM usage, adblockers
Morning Theo
@jolly inlet
Kone Pro is a good deal, but their QC is trash. That mouse has bad scroll wheel issues, but there is a new version with the updated scroll wheel.
I'm assuming Woot is selling off all the bad batches
This makes a lot of sense
I thought i just took bad care of the old one i had and broke the scroll wheel myself
Ty
How's that gigabyte board btw
This is like real gigatrash
One of the worst am5 boards iirc
Near asus prime tier
But for low end stuff it works
Yeah I hope it can handle 7600 at least
at $160 with a 7500f at $130 thats better value than microcenters 7600x bundle
got similar combo for same price few weeks ago but with g.skill trash rams
yeah same price but trash ram
that ssd also have regular gen3 speed even tho they say it's gen4
The B550M PRO SE isn't a B550 chipset. Its a non overclockable BIOS board with a workstation chipset.
It doesn't even have PBO.
Its the AMD PRO565 Chipset on the B550M PRO SE
That's the goofiest thing I think I've read in a while
Why even make it call it a "B550" board?
I’m getting close to my $1.3k budget, and my friend recommended to me that I should get a ryzen GPU and an intel CPU. Can anyone give me recommendations? My budget for both is $500 for the GPU and $200 for the CPU. I’m also wondering if I should still wait because I know the 5000 series is coming out soon, not sure what AMD is doing though
I should have all my money by december
Sounds disproportionate to the gpu for that much budget
But maybe I'm not remembering part prices properly
Feel like a $700 GPU could fit there
Hit us up in December when you're ready to buy
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Montech XR ATX Mid Tower
Cpu mobo and ram are with newegg combo savings, and ssd comes free with the cpu
is it possible i can get it in white?
Yes one sec
also what about the intel cpu/ryzen gpu
Lemme swap some parts over
Am5 allows upgradability, whereas lga1700 is a dead end socket. No new cpus will get released on it
i’ve heard that it’s just buggy
That 7600x bundle is insane value. The 7600x alone should be $200, you're basically paying $130 for mobo, ram, and ssd
oh?
Cpu and cpu socket are irrelevant to user experience, performance aside
Oh wow
Honestly am5 is more secure than lga1700, with the issues intel was having (that have been resolved)
13600k/kf/14600k/kf could be an ok choice, but not w that 7600x bundle being an option
Hm, ok
VR is one of the only things nvidia makes sense for
At least that used to be true, I'm not sure if it still is
6000 series amd gpus had issues with VR, but 7000 series improved on a lot of previous issues, im unsure if VR was one of them
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Montech XR ATX Mid Tower
For nvidia, 4070 ti super would make sense, but is just really poorly priced for what you get
Kinda worth waiting until December unless you're targeting sales rn for specific things
The pc will not look the same in December
Not for the budget
That bundle imo is worth grabbing, even to build a gpuless pc for now
$330 for 7600x mobo ram and ssd is insane
Then revisit later to finish it off
Shame it can't handle any upgrade tho
Power spec leaves it a concerning future lol
maybe 10600X
💀
7800x3d would still be fine, no?
Not being able to handle 90w would be sad
Like black friday or?
Remind me when the best time to buy this would be, and why?
Oh and how would I apply the promo stuff
cpu combo id grab asap, thats with neweggs combo deal. if you go to their site there should be a "combo savings" thing up top
you could get everything but gpu honestly, that way you've got a working pc till a good sale pops up
Oh amazing. Thanks
So are you saying there will be a better sale or there could be better sale for the GPU?
my mom is not ok with spending over 700 dollars on a gpu
i could get it on cyber monday probably
End of the year, end of the cycle, like now, is when AMD tends to offer the best deals
The $550 6950 XT was an untouchable value a couple years ago
oh wow
also, cant find the deal anywhere
i see stuff for like 600 dollars but not the 330 dollar deal
You need to use the Newegg combo builder tool
If you go to an item page there's a link for "combo up"
do i need to do a BIOS update with the mobo and cpu deal?
I would recommend it but it won't be strictly needed
It's unlikely the version is old enough to be a problem but there is a major issue with CPUs literally exploding that they fixed pretty early on
Intel took their time with that fix
just bought this combo
Nice
should i keep saving up, or should I buy anything else while its on sale?
We're at a weird point in tech where they're raising prices so they can mark it back down for black friday and call it a deal, even though it's the same prices we saw previously
My bad
Was $500 just a couple days ago
It beat it's own record
Dang time travelers at it again
Shows normal on my end
Your Dr. Strange powers are leaking out @lilac prawn
Don't Segue us into last week pls
I bet it does mr down unda man. Daylight savings isn't a thing for you right?
If you want to order psu, case, and cpu cooler you can have a fully working pc for light stuff until you buy a gpu
Part List - SAMA ARGB-Q5 MicroATX Mini Tower
You might save a little money if you waited, but I don't see you saving more than $30 or so total on case and psu
And coolers are already so cheap what's the point
Yeah I already did that
Wen star mi pc have this code 08 and after give this code A0 some help whit this code ., I have gigabyte X870 auros elite wife7 ice.
A0 means it's booting into the OS, if one exists. In other words, it successfully started.
Looks like there's a bug in Gigabyte boards and updating Gigabyte Control Center fixes it
It's not an issue at any rate
rigknow have the code AO,and yesterday give that code 08,so si normal o have somo issue
The codes themselves are not a problem. They are used to diagnose other problems you may encounter.
like what kind of problems
Like it not starting or failing to boot the OS, sometimes blue screens if they're hardware related
ok
Yesterday I got a blue screen, it restarted my PC and everything was fine. Is this normal in Windows 11 Pro64?
That depends on the specific error it gave you
Very quickly the blue screen appeared, I didn't have time to see what it said, restart and that was it.
If you send me the files located in C:\Windows\Minidump I can figure out the error code
Where do I go to find them?
C:\Windows\Minidump
send to a link
where exactly do i go on my pc
I already found it and then
DM the files inside to me and I'll take it from there
mm ned to send to you how
Right click my name, hit message, drag the files into the window, and send
guys it's $4.24 cheaper!!!
I just found a used (like new) surface laptop go w i5 10th. Is it worth it for 220€?
10th gen i5 could mean anything. Which i5? How much memory? Storage? Forget about upgrading that on that thing; how much storage?
1035G1, 8/256GB
I mean if you're not doing anything crazy then yeah it should be fine. For 220 Euros? I wouldn't know I'm not European. Others here might suggest other things for that much. Specs, however, are fine for normal usage
Just a little old of an i5. We're basically on 15th gen atp
Its better than my current surface 6 with i5 8350u 8/256, just looking at this one since mine is a bit damaged and trackpad is failing
Ill think about it
10th gen is only a little better than 8th tbh
But if you have other issues with your current one it might be worth it
I mean if you need something functional and you're fine with the performance of yours, it's by far not the worst purchase but it's also not the best
I could still sell mine for €150, paid it 180 and that was already a good deal a few months ago
Its just the screen pressure damage that i don't really enjoy
- the entire shell is really damaged
Yeah its a really small upgrade
Few downgrades like the screen res
Probably wont notice much differemce on such a small screen, pro 6 has too high ppi imo
Oh wait
No backlit keyboard uhhh
Laptops lose a ton of value once bought
Normally I'd say "avoid the 980 pro" but that price is hard to pass up so I'll just remind people to update the firmware or else.
Oh... hmm, hey @azure pond is there a coupon or something for that drive? Because I see $114
Eh it's a copy/pasted form usually
ah ended quickly
SAMSUNG 980 PRO SSD with integrated heatsink disperses heat to maintain speed, power efficiency, and thermal control, preventing downtime from overheating on Playstation 5 and PCs. Powered by an in-house controller designed to harmonize the flash memory components and the interface for top speed ...
good for the 3 people who got it
I living in Delaware which is popular for being fraud state
at least I can ask for replacement later
yeah they probably will be 1tb lol
Get screenshots of the order before they change the title of the item on you
I did but I probably gonna cancell it . there's chance to get free ssd but idk if it's worth to try lol
Sue for emotional damage
I mean with Amazon it's pretty easy to return things within 30 days, especially if it's unopened.
Well if they spent however dollars for 4tb total and only receive 2tb I doubt they'll refund 50%, easier to return
Depends on how amazon support feels that day
Sometimes they'll tell you to keep it and do a full refund
Yeah unfortunately I feel like that is happening less and less. Not necessarily completely out of greed but rather people abusing the system.
Worth a shot though
Oh probably also depends if it's sold by Amazon or a third party
Ah yes the game of amazon returns
I hadn’t played it either, but a friend said “Really cool game. The story is kinda doo doo, but the environment and monster designs are top tier.”
Is there any vpn deals atm
like proton forced me to update their software & now I can't connect to the netherlands
and they're pay walling me by putting the "randomly change location" button on a 2 min timer.
Private internet access is usually on sale PIA
Nord is good, just more expensive than the rest
Proton and pia are the best In terms of privacy iirc
you know you can literally just reach out to them and they will actually get back to you within 2 days, right?
If proton has worked well for you so far with the free tier, it might be time to start paying them for the service lol
and also, that too
They don't even restrict your speed on the free tier
they just limit the locations, servers and frequency of reconnections
Proton is pretty good, a VPN Plus subscription comes with some other programs as well
Well I’d love to go with proton just there’s a bunch of offers atm with end of Halloween and Black Friday coming up
- I have uniday coupons & atm, PIA has better pricing & coupons without unidays (💀) aka to the general public
They also have other subscriptions that give you more benefits to their other apps
nordvpn I know is reliable but is it worth the extra like 30$
Cause it’s 57$ vs 90$
For 2 years and the extra 3 months
As far as I know all you get is just
well I just realized idk if PIA gives extra benefits
Proton has an encrypted drive, email, password manager and some other stuff
That’s the $90
It looks like basic VPN
They have exactly the same services as Proton
Like it’ll protect me, check my passwords and credit card info
But tbh that’s all I see for Nord Plus, their highest one gives me the drive but it’s more expensive than protons option.
Like the same exact thing just for 50$ more.
Up to you if you're going to use those services tbh
Though I don’t think proton has mobile support does it?
proton does have mobile vpn
Oh
and the app for their password manager
they're still improving their password manager for now
would it affect anything if I just stick my old gtx 1050 into a powerful pc? I don’t currently have my other GPU since I’m waiting until december to buy it
i’m using a ryzen 5 7600X for the cpu, not sure if it’ll ruin it at all
Wouldn't do anything good or bad. But what's the purpose of putting a 1050 into a PC? You say you're on a 7600X so I assume you have a decent GPU
it'd just be a bit better than using an igpu, you wont be getting top of the line perf but you can still get by with it
just might be a hassle hooking it up and what not
If you're not planning to upgrade gpu 8600g would be cool. If you're planning to upgrade gpu later 7600/x is a good choice
Unsure how to feel abt 12900k 3090 at $1290
https://www.ebay.com/itm/167053809519?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=FD6px4KaRcK&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=r8em-zv_qyc&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
HP power limits the 12900K HARD. Below the Intel spec.
I’m gonna buy it on cyber monday
or black friday
since i have enough money for basically everything else
Lowkey could sell it and drop a 12600k/12700f in
and the gpu is like half of my budget
What's the list you're looking to buy rn?
Also no XMP
True
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Montech XR ATX Mid Tower
DDR4-3200 max hurts a LOT on these chips
W
3090 builds are on Jawa for same price
say what
W
sauce?
Probably just Honey grabbing the wrong price
nah WHAT
Oled is a big part of that
32" 4K OLED moment
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WY8Mnp
someone told me the GPU wouldn’t fit in this
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Montech XR ATX Mid Tower
Some1 fact check?
It'll fit. Maximum GPU length in that case is 420mm, the GPU on the list is 330mm.
they mistook it for another card
they scared me lol i didn’t wanna have to get a worse card
the xtx can fit in that case too
The 4090 could fit in that case for that matter
The longest GPU I know of is the Galax HOF 4090 at 360mm
Just depends on the board size and fans n what not
I mean, I guess the board might matter if you get an ITX board with a 4 slot GPU
But neither of those things are true for this list
I didn't check the list so fair
i have -p varation of that monitor and i liek it
dyno is not a fan lmao
Lmao
Dam, the 9800x3d already sold out at newegg and microcenter. Scalpers on amazon selling at ~$700+
Ah. Too bad i dont need a combo. I have an AM5 board already and DDR5-6000
I hope nobody buys them from scalpers
Reach max performance of PCIe® 4.0*. Experience longer- lasting, opponent blasting speed. is this a good deal?
Not really
M480 pro is $120
I checked earlier for combos and they all said out of stock or notify
it restocked
link?
There is a 4080 that is 375mm iirc
Lemme check
Zotac PGF RTX 4090 D is 380, but that's China only
AMP Extreme AIRO GeForce RTX 4080 is 356mm
Strix 4090 is almost 360
IIRC the 370mm long 4080 is the Aorus Master one
But that's oos everywhere so I can't check
The 4080 Super model is 357
Huh
Guess I remembered wrong
Even still
Some old dual core cards were humongous
R9 295X2
The chungoid monstrosity
That was 308
For the 390X2
295X2 309mm
Yes, at the time they were considered massive, but we have GPUs that weigh more than an average brick now lol
1000W of power isn't unreasonable for those to cool, or even for it to use when overclocking
Unironically you could put two twin-GPU cards in Crossfire and simultaneously spend less money and take up less space in your case than a single 4090
Ikr?
Though I believe it's entirely abandoned at this point
It might work
But probably won't
Oh ofc but it would work on a technical level
Just not at the game support level any more
Now add inter-chip latency to the cross-card latency
You might get a few frames per minute if you're lucky
Decided instead to get a 1060 and I was better off for it
Tru
Got all my pc parts in the mail, gonna start building today ^^
only issue is that idk if i need to update my BIOS. can someone help/remind me?
unlikely, unless you are doing an AM4 build with an old motherboard and newish cpu. Even then I think most have been updated at the factory. PCpartpicker may check for bios compatibility
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WY8Mnp this is my build, doesnt say so i think
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Montech XR ATX Mid Tower
Yeah I think you should be fine
i dont know the exact model, but its a curved monitor from MSI
1440p?
how do i check?
settings -> system -> display -> advanced display
if you haven't built yet, you can look at the back of the monitor and it should have a model number
back of the monitor doesnt have it. not sure if i ripped off a sticker or something
oh found it, G27C4X
1080p
sounds about right
7900xt is overkill for 1080p. Personally I highly recommend 1440p. Nice sweet spot of performance and visual clarity.
i am eventually gonna get a 2nd monitor
this one is just what i had since I was moving into a new place and the old guys screwed up my monitor and never gave me anything back for it
fair enough. keep your eye out for black friday deals
awesome
Check your local microcenters if you can. 9800x3d in stock all day so far, in-store only. I want to get it but now im trying to restrain myself as there’s other things more important and im not even taxing my 7600X currently…lol
It won't be required for you but I would still recommend updating due to issues with old versions of BIOS and performance improvements on newer versions.
Once you have the CPU installed you can download the bios file, extract it to a FAT32 USB drive, and head into the BIOS. You can search for the word "flash" once there and it usually comes right up.
Just got a free 65" lg OLED TV 💪💪💪
The heck
Wtf
they said it was broken, I factory reset it and it started working, although psu is acting up at higher brightness
also has a dead pixel straight down the middle length-wise
PSU is an easy fix, and annoying as a dead pixel is QC usually calls it fine if it has less than 5
all these plugs are for RGB fans. No idea where any of this goes
Each fan has like 4 connectors and i don’t know what goes in what
Sorry let me rephrase, a deal pixel line spanning the entire display
Oh a line of dead pixels is much more annoying
it kinda fades out towards the left though, very odd
probably damage caused by me in transport
They connect to each other, creating 2 chains that will connect to the motherboard at the end of the link
Ah ok thank you
ååååuggh another issue
F_Panel on my mobo is 2 pins, but the plug for it has 9 pins
That's RST
oh wait
F_PANEL is to the right
Nah it's not on you, they don't make it very clear
The reset jumper is usually closer to the CMOS battery so that's an unusual place for it
i’m still having a tough time with this
is it like, they all have their own plug-ins?
and they connect?
or is it they all connect into one plug-in
One motherboard connection to the first fan, the first fan then connects to the second fan, and the third, etc
This is why I do not like RGB lol
They either go into a 3v or 5v rgb header on the motherboard for lighting if those aren't already connected
If RGB already connected, its an extra cable I think
i just have no idea where to start
lol
???
are these all supposed to go in loops or something?
I might genuinely need someone to hold my hand thru this
ok think i did it right, not sure tho
these cables are all connected except for one which plugged into the left side of my mobo
Rgb no fun
finished the rgb fans n stuff. now having issues with my psu
(excluding the PCI-E cable, no idea if to put it in PCI-E or PCI-E 5.0) i have absolutely no plugins, my motherboard doesn’t even ask for it
Do you have a Nvidia 40 series GPU? If so it goes in the 5.0 one and will be the 12VHPWR connector on both ends.
Ended up getting help from my friend, got it all sorted out. still trying to figure out this damn RGB for my fans tho
Looool
Pc doesn’t give my monitor any sort of output, just keeps restarting constantly when i power it on. Any reason why?
It did like once (that’s where this photo was) and that’s when it did this. But so far, just keeps restarting and not giving any output.
well they all worked like.. once
i don’t know if i clicked something or?
Haven’t touched it since
i’ve been trying to spam f12 or del since i booted it
If it's restarting that means the power supply or motherboard detected a fault in the power and it's not getting sufficient amounts of it somewhere
What GPU is that because I see that there's a 6 pin plugged in but not the other 2 pins
gtx 1050 for now
Ah ok so it really is just a 6 pin
@marsh sphinx did you forget thermal paste
no
took off the peel too
there doesn’t feel to be any hot air coming out of the cpu cooler
Yep. Everything is plugged in, seated correctly, i don’t see where there wouldn’t be getting enough power, all it does is just turn on, but not load up a single output onto my monitor. It did once and i missed it
It might be worth clearing cmos to see if it'll get into bios again
And if you can get into bios then immediately disable "memory context restore"
how do i do that?
?cmos
How to clear CMOS (works for AMD and Intel)
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000025368/processors.html
Defines CMOS technology and how to clear CMOS using the jumper or battery methods.
also i don’t know if that will work because anything software related just doesn’t boot up
nothing is coming out of this computer other than spinning fans
CMOS is a hardware thing
You probably have a jumper you can use instead of the battery
i’m kinda stupid, remind me what a jumper looks like
any other solutions?
Did resetting with the jumper not work
nope
well by that i mean, i couldn’t figure out how to
Touch both pins with something metal to jump them
Non-coated metal works best so it's more conductive
Things like paperclips are my go to
can i use a screwdriver?
If the tip is not coated
Ok I will have to replace the PSU, but only a $75 purchase
Are there any good laptops for around 800 USD rn?
what for?
I'm still looking
The Lenovo LOQ 15AHP9 is a powerful 15.6" gaming laptop designed for high performance. AMD Ryzen 5 8645HS (6C / 12T, 4.3 / 5.0GHz, 6MB L2 / 16MB L3). 1x 16GB SO-DIMM DDR5-5600.
Felix and foxy are better w laptops than me
Alright ty
Will either of these run games like FN and apex well?
Yeah, the one with the igpu will have much better battery life and temps but will run games worse
Gpu perf is around a 1650
On this one what is SDRAM
Just laptop ram
oh 😭
Alright i might go with that one then
ty for the help, i have ZERO knowledge on laptops 💀

I'd probably get the Intel one. I don't think the AMD CPU is worth $150 more
Is this the best monitor I can get sub $200? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1784672-REG
Get #1
Usually I'd say ryzen, but there isn't really an upgrade path for laptops lol.
yes
would need to uphrade ram for the second
which is easy
8645hs will be better and i believe more efficient
this is $180 after coupon, good deal? https://www.ebay.com/itm/256271376641
I'm weary of panel quality
also imo mini led is a bigger difference than 240hz w this monitor here
pc is done, thank you all ^^
gonna do some mods to it in the future but i’ve been quite happy with it
but it's also low end mini led, which I hear can look like crap
your wish has come true
it isn't
lol
it's a very nice monitor on par with the new AOC mini led that recently came out
oh nice
hey @azure pond! Would you say that latest PC deal you put in the Tech-Deals channel is really good?
Im trying to find a good PC for a friend but trying to not break the bank..
at that price 100%
you won't find similar value period
Do pre-builds like that still use cheap components/use propriety parts that you cant switch out?
you'll likely want to add more storage, prolly upgrade the ram at some point but those are both cheap uphrades
yes
they're not as bad as omen or dell pre builts
but you're very limited in terms of upgradability
if upgradability is important i would either buy a used build or build your own with some used parts
How trusting are used parts generally? Ive always worried how someone treated their stuff, if they had proper cooling, etc
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, Cougar MX330 ATX Mid Tower
that's all new but the cpu is off aliexpress, and you'd want a used gpu
used gpus are fairly simple
cpu off aliexpress o-o is that normal?
yeah, it's made by amd directly but they're not sold in the US
it's jsut a 7600 with no igpu and a slight downclock, and then shipped here from some other countries
Would you say thats all pretty solid for someone doing gaming and tying to stream?
She is doing a laptop/ps4 setup right now and thats just..
you could also do this, but you get much worse cpu perf and upgradability https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YwmCJn
Part List - Intel Core i5-12400F, Cougar MX330 ATX Mid Tower
Usually pretty good, and ebay has decent buyer protection
yep, but in terms of performance the pre built is far better
no way you'll find even close to 3070 tier perf in the remaining budget
ah. So if its more of a 'hold her off for 2 years while she saves for better'
The prebuild is a better option?
in terms of quality and upgradability, diy on am5 (7000 series cpus) is far better
Which option would you go?
I'd say if she plans to keep the pc without changing the cpu or gpu for 3+ years, pre built
if she wants ease of upgradability, especiailly sooner rather than later id go the 7500f list
though a better mobo isnt a bad idea w upgradability in mind
oh wait
what games is she looking to play?
8600g is a valid choice, comes with a solid igpu near the 1650 in terms of performance
and still gets her on am5 for good upgradability
Her main is Dead by Daylight and Rocket League. Not sure what else she plays
8600g could def handle those
I would say ideally something along these lines https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vbVFTM
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 8600G, Montech AIR 903 BASE ATX Mid Tower
better psu that can handle literally any gpu aside from the 3090 and 3090 ti (yes it can handle a 4090), better case w more gpu clearance, better motherboard
and better ssd
the only corner cut is ram, it's a good kit but you have to set the speed and timings yourself for it to run well (youtube video and 10-30min will handle that easily)
hmmm. Is it pretty straight forward to do for someone that is unknown tech savyness
also are you aware of any god deal on a nice cpu cooler? Looks like this case comes with fans in it so I guess those can be skipped unless they are garbage
Anything thermalright imo
You can get some non rgb options as well
geeze these things are so cheap LOLL
Lmao yeah, very good price to perf
And im gonna assume you arent overclocking anything besides the ram
nah I dont even live local to her. She has been one of my twitch mods for a while XD
So I gotta hope between her and her bf, that they can figure it out LOL
Good luck to her then lol, hope they can figure out how to piece stuff together
Pc building guides will come in handy
yeahh I did my first 2 builds just following youtube videos. But my 2 recent I just got custom from PowerGPU cause I was lazy and couldnt get my hands on the Y70 Cases
For me half the fun is the challenge, i also build in mini itx cases because i think i just hate myself
BRUHHH LOL
My next build will be my first not itx tho
Lemme find the case
Introducing the Thermaltake Tower 300 Summer Edition in Matcha Plum and Peach Fuzz. This Micro-ATX case is designed for performance and aesthetics, featuring two pre-installed 140mm CT fans and support for radiators up to 420mm. For some reason i really like it
Idk what it is about it
oooo that looks great! I wanted a case like that a long time ago but if I got it, I wanted custom loop. But custom loop is just impractical
It def is
I dont plan on doing any loops but if i ever get anything that needs it in the future thatll be the perfect case for it
okok true. I have had my time with a gaming chair but it doesnt beat the herman miller
nothing beats the coziness of a big, fat, worn out leather one tho
The 8600g does have a stock cooler that will function fine
Honestly the herman miller is overpriced imo, theyre obviously great but unironically the novos are one of my favourite lines for chairs
But a diff cooler would be better, functionally wise it won't make much of a difference
Customize and price your next office task chair.
Ive never had a chair from em i didnt like
Although they have a couple sketchy ones
That i never bought
Because they looked almost scammish 😭
interestinggg. There are so many models its hard to know which you would like
So wait, back to the pc. Where does one find a non garbage gpu to go with this build?
I assume the reason bacca chose that cpu was because of the igpu
These are very non demanding titles especially if she does 1080p
Do you know if she plays anything more demanding?
mmmm
lets say hypothetically she wanted to play the new cod.
I assume this cant handle that?
or fortnite
Theres a very big difference between those 2
I thought fortnite was pretty demanding at one point? Did that change? 😂 I dont keep up with that game
She could play the new one but a fair bit lower settings id say
Well it has to work on mobile somehow 😭
its on mobile? 😭
Not mobile but like the switch
I play sudoku on my phone
oh LOL
I think of the switch as mobile lol
Regardless, with 1650 perf she could play those games
To give an idea for the new cod benchmarking has said you need around a 3060 to have max settings w/o upscaling at 1080 and reach 60fps
Technical city is pretty accurate from my experience, and if the 1650 is about half of that im guessing youll be dropping to medium settings to reach a good target fps
Also most cod games i recall are more cpu intensive anyway
The new GeForce GTX 1650 - GDDR6 has turing encoder. Featuring concurrent execution of floating point and integer operations, adaptive shading technology, and a new unified memory architecture with twice the cache of its predecessor. Get 1.4X power efficiency over previous generation for a faster...
oop thats a long ling
*link
I dont know the specifics on igpus but based on what bacca said yeah
Passmark gpu comparison is decent
Ane has igpu benchmarks
Also i can't read up but pls don't buy a 1650 for more than $40
Lol yeah

4gb vram is very limiting, and it's just not a good gpu anymore
1650 perf in an igpu is good because the cpu doesn't cost you much extra, and gives you the upgrade path of am5
But a 1650 itself isn't a smart choice imo
^
If you really want a budget gpu to stay with until you can upgrade down the line id go for a used 7600 or similar
oh wait, so are you saying this cpu as a 1650 built into it or something? I dont know much about igpu
Pretty much never buy new at budget
Basically
It's based on amds rdna2 architecture, which is 6000 series gpus
And it is very close to a 1650 in performance
And its built into the 8600g/8700g
Igpu stands for integrated graphics processing unit
8700g igpu is a bit better and has two more cores, but gaming wise it's not worth the extra
The gpu is integrated into the cpu
So then you can drop a much better gpu in down the line, but still have a solid pc for now
so it can just run off that with no actual gpu? thats cool
It is the gpu
Yep!
My 13600k has an igpu, it's just far far worse
Like it can't even run minecraft
Igpus are also just generally great to have in general
Thats terrifying 😭
I ran battlefield 1 at about 30fps 1080p on mine
so even with components like that, it would be able to stream and game?
Not the best gameplay but it worked lol
Not to the best ability but enough to get by
Buying a cpu like that has a bit more of a future proofing hint to it
Preparing to upgrade in the future versus getting the top specs for a cheap price now
Yep, it won't run games like bo6 or cyberpunk but it'll run most games
So I do have a 1080 laying around. would it help to thow that in there as well?
Yeah a LOT lmao
You just upgraded the cpu
LOLL I wasnt even thinking about it. I was gonna throw it on the marketplace but I guess I could ship it to her
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, Montech AIR 903 BASE ATX Mid Tower
For reference 7500f>8600g
8000 series has strong igpus, but has less cache and whatever other differences that hurt performance
It won't make much of a difference with a 1080, but means she has more cpu headroom to upgrade gpu down the line
And 1080 is a great card. It can run any game that's currently out afaik
oh really? Big W then. Wasnt sure that card was still viable
Its a 1080p beast imo
Rip
Dudes giving me a refund though and he might have a 2080 ti available
Thatd be a nice upgrade
Def
2080 ti is more comparable to a 3070 if i recall correctly?
My 3060 ti has been dying so I needed a temp card till I have money
Hopefully this card still works. It shouuuuld but its been laying arounda while
Id throw it in your rig to test before making any decisions for the new build
Alr i gotta run for a bit, gotta drive to class
byeee thanks for the help!
Gl with class bacca
Ty
so.. this should run better than a ps4 right?
That and its not locked behind memberships and stupid sony interface lol
1080 ti is about ps5 performance
HAHAHA
So ps4 isn't even comparable lol
Sheeeesh really? I didnt realize the consoles were THAT far behind
Consoles are the value for money market in the short term
Well until cough the ps5 pro poked its head out
so expensive for a console
At the end of the day this should be a really good upgrade for them, hope they enjoy it
Been happy with my pc so far, runs amazing even on half life alyx with a 1050 ti (surprisingly). My only issue, is after 45-55 minutes of playing, it starts to have massive lag spikes and decrease in quality, and it will constantly every 5 seconds kick me out of SteamVR. I also plan to get body trackers that also connect via the wifi , so I'm wondering if its because of my poor-quality GPU or will I need a better wifi connection?
Probably running out of VRAM
figured, gonna buy my new gpu in a couple of weeks anyway
Oos now but wouldnt this have been a great deal?
4090 alone is $1800
official lenovo refurb
which website/app did this deal pop up in
but it's amazing deal just refrub obviously, it's probably a dell equalivent of a prime z690, possibly decent OEM cooler, and a psu thats just barely passes any laws to be called "safe"
Slickdeals
Went oos about an hour before and people mentioned potential issues with the 13900 as they might be damaged and returned
Hey @bold willow that's a solid deal but I believe it's a scam seller
Only one review on the sellers account
Yeah its fake
Deleted. Definitely scammer.
In which case you contact Intel to replace it, which is inconvenient but far from the worst thing
It's an easy trap to fall for when it shows up on a site you think is reputable like Amazon
Meanwhile Amazon actively does not care that the scammers all use the same Shenzhen, China address and when their ratings fall they just make a new account
It would be so easy to fix the scammer problem on Amazon. Just enforce a policy where they can't cash out until the item is received and the customer confirms it's correct (or a week after delivery to account for non-response).
But Amazon has no incentive to do that because they take a large cut of every sale, so they're not only complicit with the scammers but also actively profiting with them.
tbf some of them are just random resellers, that address is in sichuan and not shenzhen for example
Drop shippers are as bad as scammers though
Drop shippers who lie about their product are as bad as scammer
I get pissed off at those content creators who claim to invent or create something they buy off aliexpress for a 10th of the price.
I was at a vintage fair and someone was selling these awesome looking PvZ and Pokemon Crochet stuff they told people they made themselves (Costing anywhere from $25 to $100). Found the same ones on etsy for $7.
There doesn't even need to be a lie involved. You could have a normal problem with a good product that you received, but you'll have no warranty support to cover it and the seller will never respond.
Drop shippers
Nw
I have r5 3500x and I wanna upgrade it without paying too much any recommendations?(I dont buy intel)
Ive done the exact same before lmao
5700x3d if it's available to you would be an Amazing upgrade, if not 5700x or 5800x3d
How much is too much
i guess amazon or newegg doesnt sell 5800x3d
$439.99 its not overpriced?
Its absolutely overpriced lmao
Imo
Most id spend on one of those would be 250 300
It's 2 generations old, they don't make it any more
yeah thats for sure
Which is why i gave the options
You in the US capon?
ye
It's currently about $350 used on ebay
200 flat
do you think the price will drop even further on Black Friday
Probably not and if it does i doubt by a whole lot
