If you're getting ping spikes and you're on wifi, try Ethernet
i am on ethernet
i connected my pc to ethernet, but it connects to a booster, not the actual router itself
so a better wi-fi card would be better then?
There's a lot of possible things that are happening, either the connection from your modem/router to your Wi-Fi extender is poor, or the connection from your extender to you is poor, or there's something up with your modem/router, or there's something up with your extender, or there's something up with your onboard Ethernet chip or wifi chip
First thing to do is prob updating Ethernet and wifi drivers
Then try just wifi if Ethernet keeps having issues
i think i might just see how my wi-fi is once i get my new pc because my current one has a crappy hard drive which is making it impossible to use
Then try your connection directly connected to your modem/router without the extender if possible
Usually a better wifi card won't change much but there's a lot of possibilities
i sit like right underneath the router
it’s right upstairs from me
Then you might want to try unplugging or disabling the extender and directly connecting to WiFi
Does your PC not have any onboard wifi?
Ideal to try is get some ultra long Ethernet cord to test but that might be pretty impractical
@marsh sphinx No filter dodging
mb
no
yeah it could easily get torn and there’s no shortcut to the upstairs
are you sure i can’t just get a better router?
Better modem/router/wifi card are nice and all but if the problem is something else, you spend money for practically no benefit
i’ll have to see what i’m promised to get for the wi-fi
Does g305 have hot swappable switches ?
It's Logitech. You'd expect it? 💀
buy asussy
also $25 mouse is $25
it's not even bad
(speaking from my own experience)
it's heavy yes but im not looking to rack up headshots
Anythings hot swappable with enough hot solder on it
I wont buy another mouse that doesn’t do auto switching hyperfast scrolling. I hate logitech but i am spoiled AF by my 3s Master.
I like my G502 but I understand why people don't like Logitech. I've had to repair my switches and do a RMA for double clicking. They're far from reliable for heavy use, but it fits every need I have.
What's the best GPU under $200 used? For gaming only
My issues lie more on the software/driver side. Like I understand advances in tech. But why cant we have all our current tech use the same software? There’s the Gaming software, G Hub, Options, Options +, etc.
6650xt or something
Alr that's what I thought, but 3060 ti is just bordering on the price
3060ti is also good
Or the new one...mouse subscriptions...
It turned out that was not a real thing
An idea from a logi exec yes
Ridiculous she even said it tho
Logitech also is on the pretty bad side for double clicking iirc, though the newer gen ones should be a lot better with optical
If not, razer basilisk kinda nice for that
Titan Xp/1080 ti
I haven't run the Logitech software in years. I set up onboard profiles and then uninstalled.
Best way to use it
Abandon all bloatware

Yeah 2080s is good
Blowers are LOUD but if you can live with that then go for it
@tawdry dragon more options for you ^
5700XT is also extremely hard to pass up
Yeah especially for a 2080 I'd definitely pay that extra $10 and get the gigabyte card
No on-board profiles on the 3s. But its built for the office, not gaming. Still…. AUTOSWITCHING HYPERSCROLL!!! lol. The extra side scroll wheel is nice too. But again, great for web pages, spreadsheets, and architectural drawings. Maybe not so much for gaming.
Although…. Thinking about it, could you imagine a strafing move using a side scroll wheel? 😈
Side scrolling game 😀
is $100 usd too little for a ryzen 5 5600?
you talking used?
no just open box
100 is a bit steep for open box 5600 imo
steep?
oh you want to sell it? that means its used practically
youre not going to get 100
unless you manage to sell to someone clueless
for personal sellers as long as it works used = open box
the reason it doesnt matter is because youre still taking a risk buying from a rando instead of a company
i see
And likely no warranty support
quite dissapointing but i understand
On ebay 100 seems very doable for open box
But you lose some of that to sellers fees anyways
thats suprising
Exactly. eBay takes about 15% so you take home about $85.
If you're selling to an individual then you don't need to account for the fees
Could try for maybe 90 on your local markets. This is the only time I might regret a purchase is trying to resell and/or get a certain amount.
sorry for the blurry image
I need to buy a laptop for college, and these are hte ones that they suggested, which on should I buy?

What kind of a budget do you have and are you in the US?
I am in the U.S.
And the bugget is negotiable depending on which is best, but I dont think ill be spending $2,400, the most expensive one
There's a good option in #tech-deals
#tech-deals message
You'd need to upgrade the RAM but that's easy
Other than that it fits all the requirements for the "best" option at a much better price
The memory you can use
https://www.newegg.com/mushkin-enhanced-64gb-262-pin-ddr5-so-dimm/p/0RM-001Z-000Y2
Iam looking into getting a new build... Im not much in rush because im in school and so I dont have that much time for gaming... BUT, games like PoE keep crashing on me all-the-time and im thinking my GPU is dying.
Is this year good time to upgrade? Or are there some cool things coming out later this year or early next?
If you have the money, new 50xx series is launching in a few months. But if you don’t, what’s your budget?
What GPU do you have and how much RAM do you have?
PoE has had some memory management issues
I was thinking 3-4k?
That would be enough for a 5090 and then some if you mean USD
I have Gigabyte AORUS GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Xtreme Edition 11GB Graphic Cards GV-N108TAORUS X-11GD
and then I have 32gb ram
That's still a quite respectable gaming GPU, and plenty of RAM, so it could just be that you need a driver cleanup
?ddu
DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) Guide by Pato
https://github.com/NeweggTechie/Graphics-cards/wiki/How-to-use-DDU
If anything, just an upgrade to a 4080 super and some 7800x3d style builds would work for em if he wants to just straight upgrade to the best.
oh nice, never thought of clean up... I updated to the latest drivers but it just keep crashing like CRAZY and it literally made me burn out lol
@azure pond Think this is worth the $400 more as opposed to the 4050 version?https://discordapp.com/channels/500085440221806603/500102969702875156/1274771654479974441
Buy HP Victus 15.6 inch FHD IPS 144Hz Gaming Laptop AMD Ryzen 5-8645HS NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 8GB DDR5 512GB SSD Mica Silver (2024) at Walmart.com
Both are great prices, it just depends what you care about really
The 6gb on the 4050 will be somewhat limiting gaming wise
That HP also has a TGP of 75W, quite low power
75w is ok tho
you only lose 5 fps or so
4050 optimally runs on 90-100w
past that it's diminishing returns/useless
my tuf has 140w config but it never reaches past 90w or so
Yeah it's not the worst, like the HP omen that's only 50W
yikes
But it will impact performance a bit
If it was a 4070 then it would be a problem
Cough cough msi
Fortunately HP has you covered on that too with a 65W 4070 on an Omen Transcend
Probably binned better so lower voltage?
i guess so
it's on another chip anyway
4050 is ad107
nvm it's also ad107
better binned then
Amazing board deal there
Wow
That's a rare better buy than an Asrock for AM5
Might be Gigabyte is trying to push out older stock and run down SKUs for next gen, I wouldn't hesitate on that one
That's possible with the new chipset due in about 2-3 months
Sure seemed like a real solid 1 to show for $121. Heatsinks on vrms, normal 2 ssd, wifi6, typical 4 usb 2 alongside all the other goodies. Even flashback button on far left of io.
The wifi 6 on AMD boards is barely worth mentioning since it's barely usable anyway
They had some kind of deal with Realtek iirc and they exclusively provide chips to AMD now, but those chips are always dropping connections and taking forever to reconnect
At least the wifi card on this board in particular looks like a standard one so it's easy to swap to something better like AX210
Oh that's neat. Adapter in Low pcie slot option too if needed. I might've gotten this mobo & a 7600(X) if I didn't just get a 790 for the 14.6K
They also put those SMA connections in a good spot. I wanna slap the engineers that put them between the USB ports.
Like my MSI board. Honestly probably fo the best but one antenna goes _ one goes /
If the goal is cheap, decent quality, and high refresh 1080p
How many fps can you push in 1080p
I have a 1660s rn, might upgrade in a few years but for now im thinking i barely go past 120 anyway
scratch that, i run a 3070 on my laptop
Ok so 240 is out of the question then
Laptop 3070 can get close to a desktop 3060 with the right power limit so it could possibly do 240 on medium
If the CPU can keep up
Which it probably can
What's happening?
Do you just not get high enough fps?
?
Yeah 11800h and 3070m can push 300+
Like the monitor is too big?
too big
27"?
When it comes to gaming performance, the slightest disadvantage can be the difference between winning and losing a match. With a 240Hz refresh rate, lightning fast 1ms (GTG) response time and full adaptive G-Sync compatibility and FreeSync Premium support, you can be sure that the Odyssey G4 Gami...
valorant purposes
You can change the ratio
also i wanna play more games on higher performance
Increase scaling
So people and heads look bigger
Bc im just saying
That $220 monitor upgrade is a $220 6650xt
welp
yeah i kinda thought that was the verdict
damnit. getting a 2k monitor on tiktok then
It's your choice in the end
not bad
Why don’t I have $250
Wha
yes
12GB Storage
huh 💀
Probably meant 12TB
Ah
Then what about the "16GB RAM" in the description?
Oh huh
120gb storage
@stoic crest thoughts?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/156363107184?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=92chrSivS8C&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=r8em-zv_qyc&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
It looks good
@civic sun
Finally something I can recommend for a basic laptop
See like how hard is it to make a decent laptop like that
Lenovo cooked lol
I'll say that I didn't like my Ideapad while I had it though (but this was a couple years ago)
Been using ideapad slim 5i for awhile and I'm happy with it . Screen is trash but aluminum case is great
Grabbed it for 400$ . i5 13th gen with 16gb ddr5 and 500gb ssd
I had a weird audio stutter with my Ideapad (I'd imagine it would be fixed by now). I think it was getting better after every BIOS update but they didn't release a BIOS update until 2 years after the previous BIOS update on one point 💀
I had to go through some workaround to get audio to work. I eventually gave the laptop to my gf (who really needed an upgrade) only for the mic to be super quiet for no reason at all (laptop audio I swear)
Tired of laptop audio bruh. Always garbage for no reason. It actually makes me want to get her a MacBook for when she needs a laptop for when we call (she's stuck on an iPad for now which is fine for us)
I hmm I mostly using it with earbuds anyways while having coffee
Most of my audio problems on all pc's have been related to realtek
AM4 is infamous for it
And those use...?
Not even. It's just some crappy third-party audio program that works with the hardware audio. My previous three laptops have all had something goofy (Asus with Synapse, Lenovo with something else [forgot], and Dell with Waves Maxxaudio)
Damn
Well the fact that it sounds like realtek speaks volumes (haha geddit) to just how bad the pc world's most prosperous codec supplier is
Just some third-party crap that they have to put on laptops for some reason. It's not even a single Dell laptop too. I have multiple ones (some of them are totally not stolen from a previous job) and they all have the same crap
Sometimes I'll try to turn up the volume and it'll buffer the YouTube video I'm watching 💀
My android has a funny trait, very common apparently
(Preinstalled audio hijack software)
If you plug certain headphones in, the google assistant goes insane
It'll randomly spam the volume up and down, and google will start randomly reporting the weather and listening to you be an ass to it
Make an open-source operating system
Pair it with the worst audio software
And it's always audio too. They could've played with any other piece of hardware on the computer but they choose audio, the most annoying one to get comfortable with
I yearn for the day realtek nahimic has a day zero virus so they can finally nuke that 1998 program
I'm not the only one who notices this or annoyed by this, right?
Like I don't need a program to determine which device to automatically route audio to. Windows already does this by default. Why have a Window launch being like "Which type of audio device did you just plug in?" just so you can give it some crappy software-based EQ that my laptop's hardware can barely handle while watching YouTube
I wonder if Framework has these issues
Windows currently cooking up new system specs requiring "A.I hardware" only just give it time
I hate that laptop reviews don't mention this type of thing either
It's tremendously annoying
I can rant all day about it lol. I just woke up
I wonder if HP has some audio crap. I heavily dislike HP but I'd like them more if they don't come with any extra audio software
I kinda wanna try a spare HP laptop my parents might have
That SSD in tech deals is not the mp33, but the ms30, which is a M.2 SATA SSD. Or am I missing something?
Nah I think you're right
Plus it's $90 (unless I didn't see how it would be $60)
Still not too bad for what it was
It was the mp33 earlier at least
Went oos, and they must've changed where the link goes
Wrong link maybe? I found this in the URL:
I saw ms30 tho . Bought 2 of them just as extra storage since it's almost same price as hdd lol
Calm down won't be for a good few years
Win 11 is only less than 3 years old
I still find it funny that Windows 10 was supposed to be the "last version" of Windows that they would iterate on. Until they fired the guy in charge that said that.
12
A much better version of 11 probably
Bro really thought 13 comes after 11
Windows 12, Windows 11 but it prohibits you from using anything other than Microsoft products rather than just harass you about it
It makes me want to try dailying Linux for a bit lol
Personally I can’t wait for apple and Microsoft to have one big merger
So then we can only use Microsoft/Apple products and have our data constantly sold off
lol wishful thinking. It's going to have AI garbage everywhere it can. A real privacy nightmare, even more so than 11 is.
AI craze is seeming to go down
As a significant amount of companies reported losses with related projects
Hopium
Only because there's no real AI products yet, and most hardware still isn't capable.
Once more hardware is capable, they'll try to shove more useless features down the pipeline.
Samsung got exposed real quick with their "on device" AI processing of images. It gave an error if you weren't connected to the Internet.
The new pixel phones are mostly cloud processed too
@grand orbit what does this show for you?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CGLYMRFX?tag=pcp0f-21&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1
£340 7700xt pulse sold by Amazon
No worries, mabe it was for a few mins or something or excluding vat because you're in the us or something
Change shipping location to UK in top left maybe?
Ah yep that did it
That's why I'll usually use a VPN and private browsing for international price checks
@worthy junco can you add a description to your posting thanks
@worthy junco L
Intel core i7 6700 6th Gen ooof.
yeah
how do you get win11 on there without tpm
you can
yep
We shouldn’t let people without a green role at least post there lmao
yeah that last one almost seems like a self promotion or something
@worthy junco 11 downvotes is nuts lmaoooo just take that post down
Naw leave it up it’s good for people to see bad deals too so they don’t go out and buy that lol
17 downvotes
I went to see why it was such a bad deal...
single stick of ram
budget mobo
i7 6700
almost definitely a sata ssd
basically paying for a bunch of trash around a 4060
damnnnnn I didnt even realize
17 downvotes is crazyyyyyy
so do i leave it up or take it down
take it down it's not good
The world: take that garbage down!
This guy: should I take it down or leave it up?
Didn’t you know? That’s how they ship gpu’s nowadays. Well protected if it’s previously installed! 😂
Intel guy be like:
"I'm investing "
Everyone: "do not do it"
"Imma do it anyway"
2 days later
"I messed up"
Buying used be like:
- Intel Core i7
- RX 7900 XT
- 32GB of RAM
- 1TB SSD
The actual CPU: an i7 3770
Literally
Hold on
I have a great example
"HD" I swear
720p is HD after all
I mean... they're technically correct. But also so, so wrong. It's a full 18% worse in single core.
It's more like a 2600K
you dont
The 1680v2 will fit the same socket. It's fewer cores but they're stronger.
The 26xx series is meant for more, weaker cores.
you run from that
Is this pc good?
Kinda. Cyberpower isn't a great brand in general, but the PC itself would be ok at 1080p gaming.
How much is it?
@amber kelp get this.
It’s better than all your choices.
If he asks the same question again I'm gonna laugh
My guy just refuses to take a deal
Prebuilts by big manufacturers 9/10 are gonna be less value and performance
Cyberpower specifically ive heard has rushed production, which is how they get their "lower" prices at the cost of the integrity of the whole building part youre skipping by getting a prebuilt in the first place.
Just get the used one, genuinely just better
@azure pond You'd be surprised but that's actually those fan's normal price lol
Sure you're not thinking of the c12c 3 pack?
I think?
I'm pretty sure I looked at S12W fans either yesterday or a couple days ago and they were that price
I'm looking back at my invoice for two 3-packs, I paid $15.39 for those (these are the black version)
Looks like they're the same price as when I bought them a couple weeks ago (August 5 to be exact)
curved IPS? or incorrect pictures?
This says it's VA.

What would you guys sell 32GB 1333mhz ddr3 ram for?
2
Not sure
Ripjaws, that's a UDIMM
Wait you've got only 2 sticks of that? That's a 16GB kit
2x8GB
someone mentioned a scam site using neweggs name but err ones dm's are closed
Dude is selling 4
i tried said no
Should’ve corrected
$15-20
Try now, seems Discord reset my settings
That's DDR5 price lol
ok I see it, lemme check it out and I'll alert an admin if needed
thx
my pc blue screens and restarts every time i log into my pc does anyone know what’s wrong?
We aren’t that strict here dawg
Intel discord is wack
But any upgrades/hardware changes recently? @umbral summit
If that 7900xtx was gone it's back just at 806 instead with LABORDAYOFF
Nevermind bacca reposted I'm blnd
no not at all
samsung, of all brands, having a good deal on an ssd??!?!?!!
There's been a lot of fake drives and used being sold as new on Amazon, be careful
Even sold and shipped by Amazon
its real
no one would use the actual company name because thats just gonna be a gigantic lawsuit that would ruin their life forever
and thats not worth it to scam a few people
Do you have it in your hand and the case cracked open to inspect the drive inside? If not then you can't tell.
I've seen old broken drives with hacked firmware being sold as new very recently. Sold as Seagate but they were actually HGST/Hitachi.
It's sold and shipped by Amazon
cool
To be clear, I never said this specific deal was a scam. Just that there are current scams running that people should be aware of.
yea def
Reminds me of the gpu stealing scams
Someone swaps the box with weights, or sand
Or you get a refurbish with no physical core
lmao
amazon aah scams
it's still inherently wrong, but if it's amazon getting scammed i feel a lot less bad about it-
Or the Ebay:
GPU for sale!
Description: this is a picture of the GPU I bought.
garbage deal
i litteraly have that mobo and my build was sub 600
will explode under a 12900k
F
nah
@civic sun you were looking for ssd deals right
I already got it covered but thanks for asking
Bought. Thanks!
That's certainly a PC.
Average deal I guess, assuming it's not the 3050 model that should have been called 3030.
Never get a 3050 anything.
Just save money and get something better.
fr
i outperform it
Me running on a treadmill outperforms a 3050
Need some help finding a laptop if anyone is willing,
Under 800, the cheaper the better
Mostly web apps, so doesn't have to be powerful
Battery efficient
Good webcam
Will last 5-10 years
At least 1tb of storage
16gb of ram is fine, 32gb is preferred
Screen doesn't have to be amazing, just good enough
Keyboard has to be good
Has HDMI port
Has DVD drive (optional)
5-10 years on a low budget is a bit of an ask
Honestly the cheaper ones are easier to repair, so they might last longer
MacBook Air m1 fits the bill almost perfectly, but not sure it would work
Best Buy has an M2 Air for $800
If you want 10 years for $800 that's probably your best option
Only 256gb but if webapps are primary use I don't see a need for 1tb
1tb kinda is necessary for documents and files and such, but I'd say something that can be repaired instead of something that will last 10 years is better
Wish i’d read this in March….
so your saying i should get rid of my 3050 XD
Not that I’ve needed it. Fans haven’t even kicked on more than a couple of times.
Yes
100%
Go get literally anything else
"unless there's a good deal on a laptop"
8gb?
ram
nvm it has 16
wow
apple
good job
I plan on upgrading. Just needed something better than the igpu and more ports than the MB to get me by and Best Buy had it on sale for ~$180 or something
Some do have 8gb but thats less of a problem on macos than windows
what do you suggest with a b550m pro vdh and amd ryzen 5 5600g?
6600
Could probably fit a good 6700xt in there without many issues, yeah? Given they have a good enough PSU?
yea
@plain sphinx what’s your PSU?
Segotep 600W Power Supply,
they changed the link it was a 600
it was a cheap build 3 years ago, and has worked well for me so far
I'm unsure if this is worth posting
https://www.ebay.com/itm/156365542689
@plain sphinx personally, I’d just take the opportunity and upgrade to a 750w Corsair or something higher quality
Xeon processor and Quadra gpu
Interesting combo in 2024
Only issue is I can't find how much vram it has
There's multiple versions tho
oh
And I can't find which version the pre built has
Higher vram
like the a and ada?
bc i cant find any versions with just higher vram
Oh wait
also music makes boring tasks so much less miserable
So I was looking at ebay sold listings, I guess I didn't look at the listing titles well enough o
I don't know nvidias workstation lineup at all
1:1 trade for my gt 1030
no
its like a 710
bc kepler
its just meant to be a display adaptor for my seriously girthy xeon
I did actually try warzone on my old 3470 1030 build
which sucks
It didn't go very well
i love how the highest end 10 year old cpu cant beat a low end cpu 3 years ago
or not the highest end
close to the highest end
also nvm the 12100f is 2
10 years is a long time for tech tbh
For a whopping 4 frames per minute
Best ssd brand
just leaving this here
i looked at some ebay
and im disgusted by the amount of flippers who are successfully selling the victus 15 from walmart
699 for what is still a 599 laptop
Bring back tiktok deals
There haven't been any good ones lol
There's a 24" 1080p 165Hz for $99.99 though
I mean, they ain't making much profit. Ebay takes like 13%
Last time i sold something on ebay, it ended up costing me more than i sold it for.
Granted, it was only a $5 item. But ended up costing me almost $8 by the end of it all.
Me wondering if I'll even try to give away the spare lga1700 Thermalright socket I have if possible buyer at least pitches in for part of shipping, lol. (Not here)
EBay sellers be like:
Why is the group buy price higher than the regular discount?
30" 1080p 💀
It's ultrawide, but it's the 100Hz that kills me
No need for curved at that size too
How is this monitor do yall think?
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-g2524h-24-5-full-hd-1920x1080-monitor-gaming-280hz-oc-fast-ips-0-5ms-amd-freesync-premium-nvidia-g-sync-ascent-gray/6567509.p?acampID=0&affgroup="Deals"&cmp=RMX&irgwc=1&loc=PCPartPicker&mpid=79301&ref=198&refdomain=pcpartpicker.com&skuId=6567509
bc 280hz is useless unless you are a pro
plus I already have a 1440p monitor
the difference between 180 and 280 isnt that much tbh
What's the pc spec
i5 9600kf, 1660 super
What's the displayed fps in game
uh 300 i think
Is that with a cap
yeah
that sounds reasonable
Is it constant or peak 300
oh constant is like 200
Mmmm
my friend gets 75 fps max settings on a 3400g 1650
What's your current monitor fps
for competitive val that monitors a fine choice
Suggestion
mh?
I used to play pro so hear me out
Set an fps cap to 145
Dip below your constant, so if you have high load scenarios, you won't stutter as much
You could also do 165, 180 is fine
Just stay below your norm
ah ok
So the gpu can ramp up to when you need a high load
think 180 or 165 is ok?
Ye
Just try that first
I think the monitor is good but only if you can easily hold 280 constant
Otherwise it won't feel all that much smoother
idk
Hm
3070 mobile would do 240+ on val
Well point still stands
3060 ti at a 65% pl for me gets 240 fps constant with a limit
If you can do a tailored 280 constant with a bit of gpu headroom left
Then go for it
I think its worht a shot at least
Hell 240 works too if you run the monitor at 240
do you have any plans to upgrade your pc?
But my point being going for high fps monitors don't really improve things if you can't*maintain that fps very easily
and anything against refurb/open box options?
no I uinderstand that
im just thinking I wanna see how the higher refresh rate looks
I dont wanna keep a 1660 super forever
oh yeah im doing the whole pc lol
If you can't sustain that fps then the gain won't look different
Ok hear me out
dunno what cpu I want yet. Not in a rush to upgrade, my laptop isnt dead yet
NO
Mini led
Lol
MY PC GONNA EXPLODE
Cool monitor, way off the spec tho
I would try an fps cap first lad
My god my brain
For val it really wouldn't be that bad, a 1660 super would do 100+, and with the plan to upgrade mini led would be good for competitive play (if I'm way off base ignore me)
If he wanted to go baller I'd do a KTC oled personally
the thing about valorant is just the pixel density
too many and you really cant see the crosshair clearly
and targets look smaller
when i went from 1080p to 1440p in valorant, as well as a quality/vibrance upgrade the biggest thing was the clarity in resolution
im using a 1440p monitor, tried a 1080p monitor and i had a significant difference while playing
although its $500+
im waiting for black friday to buy one
Imagine that 280hz you linked
Now double it
That's how fast oled is
At the same speed
but like
Ips 560hz = oled 240hz
i could buy a gpu with that money
Sure
im going oled w 3060 ti
I get what yall are saying tho
not sure if oled is worth it yet on a 1660 super, but w a gpu upgrade as well thats a good choice
god my brain is scrambled
ill grab one later man
im not spending that much money when i could literally fix my brakes with the money
Not telling you to buy one lol
Start with an fps cap
Fix your stutters
High load situations
That's when you want all the fps
That's also when you get the most stutters
i.e, gunshots, grenades
Allat
Fix your lows and the results will be better than aiming for a higher peak
Smoothness in fights >>>> smoothness everywhere else
These things come as the opposite to a new monitor
I'd be looking at cpu and gpu load, seeing if I could improve with a better cpu
Or a ram tune
Making sure I get the right utility out of it
If you can then see the game is a pretty consistent, 240fps, 280 fps, then I'd say go for the dell you linked
Cos that extra fps won't matter whatsoever if it doesn't show up when you're in a battle
I learnt all this ages ago, wish I had it hammered into me a decade ago before I went for pro
Lessons of the wise ig ☠️
Nilas how r u
Oh hello Nilas
🫃
👶🏿
Noki r u the father

nokia
What a goofy PC lol
eBay builds be like:
- CPU: i7
- GPU: 3060
- RAM: 32 GB
When actually the i7 is only a 3770
Not even a K-series i7
Xeon 12 core
4060
32ddr3
bruh 💀
That’s my kinda build BABY
That laptop is such a good deal
it is
tho for a bit more
$599 gets you 8645hs+4050
but ofc 8gb ram
still food for thought
that laptop is still on at walmart
Easy enough to toss in another 16GB stick for $41
Mixing memory on laptops isn't as bad as on a desktop since it's usually running at or near jedec anyway
It's a lot cheaper than what they'd charge you for memory at any rate
mhm
Also, who's overclocking memory on a laptop too lol
Alec
i payed 60 for my a750gl i got scammed ;c
jk i payed 70 and got a 10$ rebate
hopefully i do
Yea definitely a pretty solid price tbh. Almost surprised it's not some sort of sale. A lot of good 850's are 100+, excl refurbs and such
the fact that you can get a pc like this for close to $300 prebuilt is just absurd to me https://www.ebay.com/itm/276568547953
Considering the 1660 is below the requirements of several recent games it's not that crazy
of course it's not the best pc, but I don't think you could do much better by building it yourself.
back in my day that cpu cost $300 by itself
Got my SSD in today. Kinda disappointed how it arrived. Just one of those bubble wrapped envelopes and the plastic shell. I wasn’t expecting a retail box, not even in a box at all is fine. But maybe a flat of cardboard or something to give it rigidity. On top of the fact Fed Ex just threw it in the middle of the driveway. Luckily i’d seen the delivery notification so i knew not to run over it. Literally 3ft to the right, there’s a chair for them to put packages on. Anyway. About to install and check it out. Thanks again @azure pond for posting the deal.
That's annoying, ngl I don't remember the deal but np and glad you snagged it
No it's 160, if you're looking at it from outside the US or alike it's removing the tax for you
ok
but im looking at it from the us
Sorry meant in the us started typing outside the UK but then changed it
Because think it's just US they do it for
Because most countries include tax
ok
I usually use a VPN to get more accurate pricing and shipping costs
genius
isn't m482 better than that 990 evo ?
Don’t know, but hey at least the 2TB 990 Evo in the deal is cheaper than the m482 with same storage
No it isnt…
Wow that's a nice one there
Okay never mind that’s a pretty good deal
Must’ve been really hidden when I looked it up
No
It is. For some reason, it’s not even listed on the main website. And you have to dig a bit on the store to find it. Makes me especially thankful that Truebaca found it and posted to begin with.
Cracked that whip on my CC, for sure! Haha
instead of cracking your whip you cracked the keys on your keyboard
hit them really fast
Actually used my phone. Must be why there’s a crack in my glass screen protector XD
fair enough
It’s a shame that mobo and ram bundle can only be used in store
No micro centers near me
How do I pick a good ISP? I want to do gaming on a good internet provider since our current one isn’t holding up for us
Generally you don't have many options
aaah darn
It's often a monopoly
I can say don't use satellite or mobile network ISPs, you get latency spikes that can boot you from games
yeah we’re using optum fiber and it’s garbage, my mother was considering going back to AT&T but idk how good that is either
didn’t plan on that
AT&T is a very broad category, they have so many different services. They still do dial up.
can it be good at least?
like if i choose the right stuff
Yes, their cable and fiber services are good enough generally speaking
i’ll let my ma’ know then
Starlink is usually what I recc people if they don’t do serious fps gaming
But it’s a high upfront cost
yeah cost is gonna be an issue for my family
and i plan on vr so i do
off topic; is a ryzen 5 7600X and a RTX 3080 10GB a good cpu/gpu combo?
yes
just been looking at builds and found something that caught me off guard, it’s beautiful lol
it’s only worth like $900 USD now
gonna stick a huge 200 dollar AIO in it lol
That cpu definitely won't really hold back that gpu. Perfectly fine pairing
well that’s what i’ll be saving up for
..what’s a “lüfter controller”?
found it in the setup
Translates to "fan"
Gesundheit
Any other good mobo replacements for this PC? Part list says it doesn't have an extra argb header for the AIO
Do you already have all of the parts?
no but its something i wanna look forward to
the GPU and CPU will most likely change
You can split the header or get a controller
probably just gonna get a controller then
i dont know how hard those are to set up
I don't think that mobo has any argb headers at all
They're dead simple. Plug the controller into the header, plug in SATA power, and plug all the argb into it.
oh awesome
Need sata+usb hubs when the board doesn't have the header
Bottom left, UART1
Dunno why it's not listed on specs
now that you bring this up actually, how much should i save for a gpu for something high end in a white color?
idk why they'd use the same style header
What resolution and detail are you targeting?
well i plan to play vrchat/half life alyx smoothly which i know it takes a lot
What headset
Ok that's basically 4k, 1832x1920 per eye
A 4080 super would be ideal I think, about $1000
damn i meant smooth but not that smooth
You could do it with a 4070 if you upscale ig
does it really take that much for it to run 60 fps?
You need lots of memory, that's the problem
If it runs low on memory then it slows to a crawl
oh yeah, forgot about that
ill see what i can find
if it seriously ends up being that much i might just cut that in half so i can just play high end games
VR is an expensive hobby lol
i usually just play vrchat to hang out with friends
not in any publics
half life alyx does seem to be an expensive game
euh yah ill probably just not play half life alyx
thatll have to be like a dream gpu
If you really needed to you could get a 4060 ti 16GB, but no white models when you get down that low in the stack
6800?
AMD doesn't really play nice with VR
Why do you say nvidia sucks?
8GB on the 4060 ti is proven to hold it back, thanks to nvidia releasing the otherwise identical 16GB model
Games are running out of VRAM at 1080p now
I mean that's fair. Nvidia has done some weird stuff, but 4070 or 4080 still real good.
i say the memory bandwidth is a bigger problem than the vram amount for the 4060ti
8GB
yeah its 8gb
I wasn't even aware that the 4060 had an 8gb model lol
But while nvidia is higher cost to perf, they do still edge out power to power usually as far as im aware.
I wouldn't buy an 8gb card in this day and age tho
Nvidia got a LOT of flak for a "midrange" GPU like a 60 series only having 8GB, so they caved and launched a 16GB model... and asked for an extra $100
my 3060 is 12 gb. They had a 6gb model too though right
The 7900 XTX does often beat the 4080 super, unless you count ray tracing
can you explain what gb does anyway?
im not familiar with how gpus work
just know what they do lol
its like dedicated ram for graphics processing
as graphics get better, they eat more ram
ah so the less ram the more time itll take to process
what about in VR as you mentioned earlier?
Everything you see on the screen is made up of textures that need to be stored and accessed quickly and frequently, as well as some physics data. That all gets stored on the GPU VRAM.
much better description lol
No
darn
There's 12 and 24 though, that would be enough
but that feeds my point is that while the 7900XTX can beat a 4080 super in some cases, it loses in others. They both have their uses. I believe nvidia is also better for streaming and modeling, isn't it? I'm not sure that's still the case but I remember it being so lol
Nvidia only wins in modeling due to program support. There's programs that translate Nvidia speak to AMD speak and those close the gap.
12 is good
3060?
Ah well that's good.
3080ti?
For streaming, AMD beefed up the stream encoder so it's effectively equal now
3080ti is 420 rn
used?
That would be a great pick
It's what I have too
The 3060 has become the minimum required GPU for 1080p medium in some recent games
yummers
if you have a psu weaker than 750w then this is a bad choice since umm
the problem i forgot the name
transciencr
transcience
ill probably just save up a specific amount of money then buy whatever gpu is in that high end range and buy it then, right now im only focused on the cpu and gpu price combo
I have a 12gb 3060 and Black Myth: Wukong runs at about 45 FPS with raytracing on medium and graphics on high. Kinda sad I cant run it on cinamatic tho lol
so its a 4070 souper
But im sure my cpu might be bottlenecking my gpu too 😅
2600
it is
i need something in white tho
why
yeh but I'm a broke boi so I'll fix it later lol
75% aesthetic 25% performance build
all the white ones are big $$$
Funny story, my 3080 ti is noticeably better than the 3090 I had before
not a specific gpu
fool
cool*
also maybe for a cpu too
im thinking saving up 200 for a cpu and 500 for a gpu or would the market be higher in 3 months?
Loose shroud sounds like temps would be finicky unless I'm crazy
ok but i needed it to prove my 430$ 3080ti point
As long as it's just the shroud itself and not the heatsink it would be fine
I think I'd take this instead
https://www.ebay.com/itm/387340821706?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=_WbF24AfQmC&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=r8em-zv_qyc&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
The less vram will hurt at 1440p tho
That's good at least
Spending that much money on a gpu tho, id rather grab one without any issues
ye
@stoic crest
be gone, BOT
Tyty
how does one even know a good CPU/GPU combo?
like how do you figure out what’s good with what
Good place to start out with is basic details like use case and budget. That will help funnel down choices then you can research the best combos from there.
well i already know that
but i mean down to like part specs
Well, what are the specs you’re looking at atm? @marsh sphinx
oh none im just looking for knowledge for the future
im gonna save up for my entire pc first before i do anything
1300 USD
idk how to get a combo that wont bottleneck each other nor do i know what worst best with what
That will depend on the kind of games you play. FPS games tend to lean on the CPU more, while open world rely heavily on the GPU.
mainly VR FPS
..if that counts
oh, also helldivers
What headset
oculus quest 2
but if theres any recommendations for something to upgrade to from that headset i would love to hear it
You'd want the best CPU you can get, probably a 7800X3D, with at least a 4070
4070 would require DLSS
Upscaling
upscaling for resolution or?
also yea 230 isnt bad for a cpu
i can afford that
but i was also thinking of getting a RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB
Upscaling meaning it renders in a lower resolution and outputs to the headset at native res
ohh
would this suffice?
its already a pretty big price tag for me
also i thought it would be a bad idea to plan this out before i have all the money?
so
what do you do
with your pc
ok
i woudnt get 4060 ti 16gb
it might have the vram but thats the only thing it has
so it sucks
the 3060 is better value
the 3080ti would also be significantly better
and probably the same price
the a770 exists ig
3080ti is good but idk if itll be a good price when i do buy it
when will you buy it
