Yeah I think Forza is the only game I've gotten a memory usage message from on my 8gb card. I turned my textures down a notch and didn't see any improvement to fps or 1% lows though

I do think in the future it will become more of a limitation but then again so will the raster perf of my 3060ti

Most games will silently use lower quality textures if they're bumping up against the VRAM buffer limit, it's rare that you'll see one that will tell you. Several will give an estimate when you're in the display settings, that's always nice.

$230 for a new Quest 2 ain't bad, but an alternative I'd reccomend is buying used. Tons of people get Quests as gifts or just to try out VR & realize it isn't for them, so there's a lot of lightly used Q2s out there.

ebay sold listings show plenty of headset + controller kits going for ~$150, sometimes paying a little extra gets you a bunch of accessories as well.

So either before or after, grab a usb, google windows 11 media creation tool, and follow the steps, then backup any of your important files ofc. If you haven't yet, swap the motherboard etc, if you have more than 1 storage device, make sure you only have your primary ssd installed, boot to the usb it'll give you the option to delete the partitions during the windows install

6800xt and 7800xt are so close they're basically the same gpu, just 7800xt has a few newer features and bit lower power usage
