currently for wifi im using whatever my asus motherboard like came with, idk how to refer to it, maybe as an extender wifi antenna?

#

regardless, the speeds from that to my main wifi in my house is horrendous, sometimes it will just disconnect/stop working and when it is working its slow

#

as for access points, i dont think i have any in my room and im not exactly into the iodea of running a cable along my house

Does anyone have experience/suggestions for replacing a Samsung galaxy A11 SM-A115U1 screen?

got it recently because i thought the issue was with the one cox provided

the issues stopped for a while but they are back again and its been a couple weeks and the issues are still present

my channels and what not, i noticed the amount of uncorrectables is high

this is less than 24 hours of uptime on the modem

kindred yacht
#

If you've had these issues with more than one modem, it's probably an issue on the ISP end. Maybe have them send a technician out and they'll figure out what they need to replace.

#

Odds are there's a bad/corroded cable and they'll need to swap that

nocturne ferry

see thats the thing

they replaced the lines

i thought it was me being a mean guy but the issue is actually still present

they replaced lines from my house to the tap, the tech stated my connection was "perfect"

Hi

#

Can someone help me with the right product / sound card for live streaming

#

Pls help me to choose the right product/ soundcard to purchase for live streaming. I had a very bad experience with the v8 sound cards

nova pond
#

what are you streaming

green stream
#

For xlr interfaces something like a motu m2 or the arturia minifuse might be good as they have loopback channels to record desktop audio. Elgatos interface might be good if you need software or clip guard

You dont really need a soundcard for most types of streams tho

#

Hey guys

#

What is the best way to get better wifi in my room?

I've had this issue for a while now, ive had 2 of the same netgear extenders in my room which i then plug into my PC via ethernet and those have worked good (or fine enough)
the issue is, both have broken with the second one being super recent

#

so i got an ac1200 or w/e just to work temporarily and ive had more issues with it, random lag spikes (maybe not even random, its just constant), even when its not spiking its still horrendous

#

compared to my say 7 ping or w/e i was getting previously, im now averaging like 40-60 excluding lag spikes

#

so what would be the best way to fix this? i dont have any sort of budget tbh, i just want relatively good wifi in my room.

if it helps, i have fios fiber optic i think, i can get more specifics if needed. The router is 2 floors down in the basement, basically on the opposite side of my house

I was told by a remote tech it was my operating system, and he couldn't fix it so i find this a little hard to believe?

green stream
#

there are many things it can be, in general hard drives for a operating system are very slow and not recommended if you use that. There is a chance you have a download in the background doing funny things, or some kind of virus or crypto miner. you could start by looking in task manager and seeing what it taking up resources

Move the antenna out of high traffic area would be my best guess. It doesn't seem like interference so much as signal degradation when a person consisting of mostly liquids passes between the receiver and transmitter.

sturdy jolt
dense spoke
sturdy jolt
#

As in the PSU that came with the prebuilt only had 6 pin?

dense spoke
#

No it had the 8 pin but it didn’t fit. The pins were a different shape

sturdy jolt
#

uh

#

Assuming that was prob eps12v for CPU power then

dense spoke
#

I’m not all that smart about computers so I don’t really know what you mean by that

sturdy jolt
#

Welp, other than maybe waiting to get a new PSU, not too much to do other than clear cmos and check just in case that helps

#

The shapes are slightly different between PCIe 8 pin and eps12v 8 pin

dense spoke
#

Yes it was the eps 12v

#

I needed the PCIe 8 pin

#

So it’s not the psu cause I swapped the graphics card with my old one and it worked fine

kindred yacht
# sturdy jolt

The scary thing with the keying on those is you can fit the pcie plug into the eps with no resistance

sturdy jolt
kindred yacht

Pretty sure the sense pins will save you from catastrophe, assuming the psu knows how to deal with it

I've been using my iPhone 6s for several years now and though it still functions, I am starting to look for a replacement especially since 3G networks will be coming offline soon. I am having trouble finding a good option so I thought I'd share my requirements and see what suggestions the community had to offer.

I am interested in switching to an Android or similar iPhone competitor as I haven't seen anything from Apple that seems to suit my needs and I dislike the trend of decreasing user serviceability. The following parameters are in no particular order.

Carrier: My current carrier is Verizon and I would prefer to stick with them.

Form factor: I prefer a more compact phone. Preferably no larger than the iPhone 6s itself. I do not like the trend of phones becoming miniature tablets.

Battery: I want to prioritize high battery life. I do not like having to multiple times daily or feel like I need to carry a charger with me when I go to work. Something that can deliver at least over 24 hours with moderate to heavy use of communications apps or music and podcast playback would be nice.

Security: Good security and privacy protections are preferred. In addition to software protections, hardware kill switches would be nice, but I've only seen those on Linux phones and those aren't well supported enough yet for me to consider as a daily driver.

Durability: Either a rugged phone or something with support from Otterbox or a comparable case manufacturer preferred.

Software: I imagine Android probably has me covered here, but I do use discord, GPS navigation, and listen to podcasts a lot on my phone. I imagine that there are equivalents to the Apple versions of those apps but figured I'd mention the requirement anyway.

Any suggestions and recommendations are appreciated. Thank you for your time.

typically you could use something like a midi through box like this https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MIDIthru4--midi-solutions-multivoltage-quadra-thru-1-in-4-out-midi-through-box to split the signal or you would do a chain through all devices since they usually have 1 in and 1 out at least. you should also be able to do it through software but either way you might have to research a bit more how midi works and how to setup in a daw. making sure the master and slaves and clocking is all setup right

Hello! I recently bought a replacement battery for my Asus Q551LN laptop. When I went to replace the battery, the connector on my laptop broke off into 4 pieces. Asus won't provide the connector part number or a location to purchase the part as they want me to mail it in to get it fixed, however, I'm adept at surface mount soldering and would like to fix it myself.

Would anyone happen to know the part number or how to find which connector to use? I tried linking the actual battery, but I got a message that I couldn't post a link.

@eager bison
So my highs in the front the 6.5s are wired with a high pass filter that splits the signal into high pass and low pass.
It has 4 wires 2 for the high pass end and 2 for the low pass end.

#

Each speaker has a high pass filter and the speakers have connections on them for both the high pass lines and the low pass lines total of 4 wires plug into the speakers.

#

My new Infinity speakers only have a spot for 2 wires. So what should I do completely remove the high pass filters?

eager bison
#

depends on the frequency range of the new speakers

#

it sounds like your current 6.5s are a component system consisting of a tweeter and a woofer

#

so they have a filter designed for the specific frequency ranges of those two components

#

if your new speakers only have two wires, then its either only a single speaker, or is a two way component system and has an internal filter

warm fable
#

45-40,000Hz

#

That seems like a huge range

eager bison
#

thats a two way for sure

#

how much did you pay for those?

#

also yeah they def have an internal filter

warm fable
#

It's these

#

I didn't pay that tho.
I got them on sale

eager bison
#

wow

#

yeah no filter for those, just hook em straight up to the amp output

warm fable
#

LOL

#

Ok

eager bison
#

also those are 3 ohm, make sure your amp can handle em properly

warm fable
#

That either means they're really good speakers or really bad.

eager bison
#

theyre for sure really good

warm fable
#

That's what I was saying when the amps possible a bottle neck for the speakers and not the other way around you know...

eager bison
#

check the data sheet, make sure the amp will do 2 ohm speakers

#

and see the output rms at that resistance

warm fable
#

Okay

#

So if it says it can do 2ohm it should be able to handle the 3ohm?

eager bison
#

if its limited to 4 ohm, it might sound like garbo

#

well it might destroy the speakers

warm fable
#

Omg

#

I wonder what the Memphis speakers I have now are.

eager bison
#

probably 8 or 4

#

nearly all car amps will do 4 ohm, with some being rated for 2

warm fable
#

@eager bison
It's 2

#

Just checked

#

The amp has two knobs one for HPF and one for LPF on the highs.
I have no idea where to tune those to do I just have them in the middle atm.

eager bison
#

this amp only drives the new 6.5s, right?

#

in that case, you wanna use the HPF

#

and turn it to 45

#

or around there

#

there should be switches or a switch that enables one or the other, or disables both

warm fable

Question. What would be the best smart doorbell with a camera option. I’ve been looking but dunno. Was looking at an Arlo one but also Ring but dunno.

#

Would prefer wired.

kindred yacht
#

I used to install smart home systems. All the doorbells are kinda the same level of crap imo. Like, 30 seconds+ delay between the doorbell being rung and you getting a notification kind of crap.

echo parrot
#

Yeah I was reading about that and afraid of that. Any decent ones that you could recommend that are decent enough?

#

Or what would you do

kindred yacht
#

Arlo I'd consider acceptable for most people while not being too pricy

#

Ring is... ring. Basically a meme.

echo parrot
#

So like this one?

kindred yacht
#

Yep

echo parrot
#

Ah.

kindred yacht
#

Make sure it has VERY strong wifi signal to avoid notification delays. I used to install repeaters just for the doorbell lol.

echo parrot
#

It would be connected to a Asus AX3000

#

Probably very close to it

#

Over 5G

kindred yacht
#

5GHz has weaker signal, and it'll be going through a wall

echo parrot
#

Yeah true then maybe the 2.4ghz

kindred yacht
#

Standard 2.4GHz at 300Mb is plenty for a single camera, even HD and HDR

kindred yacht
#

300Mb connection to the router

#

Which in the real world through a wall is probably 100-150Mb signal

echo parrot
#

I’m still slightly confused. What do you mean by mb signal

#

Like the actual up/down speeds?

#

Or latency

kindred yacht
#

No, there's a max signal speed negotiated between the router and device depending on signal strength and other factors

#

So let's say you have a 1Gb download speed

#

But you're far from the router and only get a 200Mb connection

#

Your actual speed will be lower than that even, and will fluctuate a lot

echo parrot
#

Yeah that makes sense...

#

My current internet plan is only 50mb down and 5 up

#

I bet I’ll be running into bandwidth issues

kindred yacht
#

5... up...
You're going to be getting some serious delay on video recording yeah

echo parrot
#

Oh also the AX3000 supports up to 574Mbps on 2.4

#

And 2402Mbps on 5

kindred yacht
#

Seems right, it'll have extra antennae to accomplish that on 2.4

echo parrot
#

Yep has 4

kindred yacht
#

The external ones are usually the 5GHz ones, the 2.4GHz are usually internal

echo parrot
#

What would you recommend that I really would need for upload for that arlo doorbell. I’m guessing it really only needs maybe 10 upload at full speed 1080p or something

kindred yacht
#

The official spec lists 3Mb as the minimum spec, more is better for higher quality and reduced latency

echo parrot
#

Yeah makes sense... I don’t think the isps around here offer very high upload.

kindred yacht
#

Yep that was me too, being forced to use xfinity and their ancient cabling/speeds. The highest speed they would give me is 600/15 for $250 a month.

#

Which sounds like a speed tier from 10 years ago

#

So now I use the t-mobile 5G and I get about 600/150 for $50

echo parrot
#

Oh cool. The main isp around here is working on doing fiber with symmetrical up down

#

With 10g

kindred yacht
#

That's what xfinity told me 5 years ago

echo parrot
#

Lol

#

I’ve actually seen them laying some fiber around here so I wouldn’t doubt.

#

Near residential area

kindred yacht
#

Yeah well I saw them laying fiber at my complex too, I even asked their engineers doing it. Yep, it was 100Gb fiber they were laying. But no, I still have to use coax.

echo parrot
#

Ah

#

Maybe one day

#

But I’ll definitely look into that arlo one more because my mom really wanted to get one for our new house we are moving to.

#

Ah here we go. On the 1gb down plan here it has an upload of 35

#

Which is more than enough

#

$50 a month tho (then probably $100 after the first year lmao)
