Found the problem
It's likely not the battery, or at least it's not entirely related to it, it's the 2.4ghz network... whut? (I'm 67% sure)
I've tried leaving my phone near me while doing other stuff:

• WiFi off = no shutdown
• connected to a 2.4ghz network = shutdown
• connected to a 5ghz net = no shutdown.
  Also it only happens when the phone is in standby, so it's likely something related to power saving when not in use

I'll leave it on the 5ghz net so I can figure out if that also causes the shutdown (got none til now)

Since I mainly use WiFi on this thing, I'm not the first person to have this issue with the lumia 950, some others reported the problem on the 5ghz, not the 2.4 but I guess that doesn't really make a big difference. Likely small incompatibilities or bad software for the network adapter

I don't think it's a hardware issue that occurred over time since this thing was almost never touched since 2017. Just left in the box the whole time, maybe used for a short period because it already started to become obsolete in late 2019

Maybe it's hardware defect from production on some devices

(I'll probably get the new battery anyways, and if I need to use the phone outside I'll just set my hotspot to 5ghz)

removed some phones from the list, trying to figure out which one is best. i'd personally remove the FE because it seems to have a worse camera than the standard s21 (lower contrast, less detail and noisy pics) so that would leave me with 9 phones on the list. s21u 100x zoom isnt really that surprising as it blurs out a lot... however its 30x zoom is the best one among all (screen too big tho). recommendations?

The phone is going to be a present for my mother, she has used a S8 for over 4y, I just asked her to hold my phone that weights about 220g and said it's kinda heavy but she could get used to it if it was slightly lighter.
So, considering a 20g cover, the s20u would be the worst one. I also never realized that those sub 200g phones are actually lighter than many others

The s20u is likely to be removed from the list as it also has a very large screen

i just changed the list a bit, removed the "good" conditions phones as they tend to have really noticeable scratches or dents. this is what remains (updated the prices too) i'd actually leave the s21+ as the last one on the list, i watched a lot of reviews and figured out the s21 and s21+ have the same identical camera. they may differ in some other smaller aspects like speed, battery or screen size but nothing too relevant (price is higher for the + model). She also said out of them all she'd prefer the s20u as it has the 100x zoom, even if it's not amazing after all.

i was trying to find a good comparison between the note 20 and the s20 ultra, cant find any good ones with photo comparisons... I may add the note to the list since i saw it has a very good camera and the zoom also looks very sharp and clear

I've got a tplink mr 3220 3/4G 150mbps router, I was setting up some stuff in order to make it basically PnP for when I want to use it as a second router on some networks, I encounter a big issue when changing the credentials to log into the admin web interface to set up all the stuff. Default username and psw is "admin". I changed both to what I find suitable for me, as soon as I click save the settings are applied, and I get asked to re-enter the credentials in order to keep using the web interface, I input those and... doesn't work, even if they're 100% correct. Tried rebooting,... nothing to do. Tried the default ones. Still nothing.
Solution was to hard reset the router and get all the settings back to def.
Any ideas why this is happening? Solutions?

I sure don't want to keep the default credentials as the web interface literally tells you "default username and psw is admin" which means that anyone with some basic knowledge that has access to my WiFi could easily change the router settings

I'm using it as a 3rd router, configured it and works almost perfectly. Only problem is speeds, I'm able to get barely 40 ↓ (fluctuates a lot) even if my main net is capable of 180 download, I'm not sure if it's related to the standard it uses to connect wirelessly... using cat 6 cables and testing speeds using Lan seems to work as if it was my base network.

It runs in 802.11b/g/n. n is capable of 300mbps if running 2.4ghz. g is 54mbps and b is 11mbps.

That 300mb number is assuming perfect signal with the devices so close they're touching and no interference

2.4ghz networks are extremely vulnerable to interference, basically everything interferes with those bands

Every measurement was like a few inches away from the router, so maybe it actually is interference

I could test the router outside where there might be less stuff interfering with the wifi. However that's not a really useful test as the router is going to be inside the house all of the time

Get a big "faraday cage" and test them inside that. Pretty much any metal box works tbh. That'll cut down on interference by 50+% depending on how sealed the box is.
If you're in a high traffic area (lots of networks and devices visible) interference is quite likely. 5Ghz doesn't suffer nearly as much because there's a lot more and larger bands available.

If you're saying it's interference... I was testing in a room where I have these devices: two more active routers, 4 pcs, including server and raspberry pi, monitor, tons of power supplies for other small devices, printer, phones, wireless k&m...

So yeah, problem found, luckily this router won't be in this house and it's going to sit in an area with very few devices

So it turns out the correct answer was no, I shouldn't.
Battery life is half what it was before and phone is very hot.
It's randomly deciding to turn Bluetooth on and off.
Apps are failing to notify me when they would before.

It might not let you play them after a while of him not signing in to PSN.
You can transfer them easily to an external drive to back them up, then when you swap the drive, initialize, and install the OS, you'll be able to copy the data back. But you'll need the PSN login to play them.

12th gen is bad for efficiency/heat/battery life, id avoid that

7000 series and 6000 series amd cpus are good efficiency wise, and have very nice integrated graphics depending on the cpu

Anything with a 6x0 or 7x0 igpu (660m, 670m, 740m, you get the point) is very capable in terms of igpu

Im not familiar with the particular laptop but ram can be upgraded on devices that don’t solder it on board. There would be a slot to change out sticks. Gpu you cannot upgrade unless you do a egpu enclosure if your laptop have some kind of pcie or thunderbolt connection but that alternative is very expensive

Before I do that is want to backup the entire phone, just to make sure I can revert things if i get something wrong, how can I save the current windows 10 mobile somewhere so that I can "reinstall" it if possible? Other than that I could use windows device recovery tool (wdrt) if I accidentally end up bricking the phone (of course not permanently).
I was thinking I could clone the entire storage to a drive using Macrium, can it be done? Or do you have other suggestions?
